And this is why people like Pres. Bush get presidency.Ron Paul is the best candidate for the Republicans (in regards to who is the least evil/stupid), but he still is a terrible candidate for presidency.
Oh, really? and why is that?Erwin_Rommel wrote: »I have no problem with Santorum. In fact, his political views are very similar to mine (pro life, pro family, patriotic, etc.)
Honestly I think Paul's views on Iran are idiotic (pardon the expression). Evidently, he has no problem allowing a country with the stated intent of crippling the US and destroying US allies in the Middle East to have nuclear weapons.
Secondly, Paul is a libertarian. Although this in itself isn't a problem to me (some of my best friends are libertarians), Paul's particular form of libertarianism is shocking to me. The one issue that I will not galvanize on is abortion. Therefore, it is intolerable to my conscience to knowingly vote for Paul over Santorum.
Of course, if he wins the nomination, and is faced against our current president, I would vote for him in a hot second. But Paul is not my first choice.
Why won't you let Iran have nukes? China has nukes, Saudi Arabia has nukes, North Korea has nukes. Pretty much every country is getting nukes. Isreal has nukes. Syria has nukes. THE UNITED STATES HAS NUKES.
Why would anyone vote for some idiot who clearly doesn't know the history that the USA has with the Iranians and ask that their scientists and doctors get assassinated? To be honest, this is exactly the thing that the founding fathers warned against. That and religion with government. Oh, and idk, something about the bill of rights...
I forgot to mention that Isreal is the worst country to ever be allies with. She isn't even a good ally as far as what she has to offer, and not only that, but she moans about more money, while out in public saying that she can fend for herself. Doesn't even have the decency to hold the promises she made, and btw, is more than ready to start the fight than to defend herself.Erwin_Rommel wrote: »Obviously, his state's right's platform is part of his libertarian ideals. But, his ideals also include allowing individuals and states to decide if they desire to allow abortion or not. Although this might look like a stand against abortion to the ignorant, in actuality it provides a loophole where individuals and states can sanction abortions. Therefore, Paul does not stand against abortion because he thinks it is murder, he is against it because his libertarian beliefs dictate that people should have the liberty to do whatever they want.
Chub, you could try shutting your mouth for once, you might learn something.
Are you serious?
Ron Paul has stated thousands of times that he is strictly against abortions. That being said, he isn't going to force that on people that don't believe that, and THATS EXACTLY THE THING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE.
Yeah, who are these pro choice people to try and force you to believe in the way that you believe in? Who are they to impose themselves on you? With Ron Paul, he thinks its the individual, and then the state. So in essence, TRUE democracy. -
You are right, technically its not even murder because the being itself has not yet been born, but is still just tons of gametes going through stages of interphase..So, we have established he is against abortion. so why wouldnt you vote for him?
it is such a contradiction to think that the government needs less power, yet to want abortion to be a federal affair. people want their personal beliefs to be enforced, but nothing else. well it needs to be either all up to the states or all up to the federal government, pick one.
also, would you rather have a cell undergoing meiosis to be scientifically aborted, or women to stab their wombs in back alleys? your choice. -

Boy does he have some balls for standing up there and speaking out against some of these policies!
All his views seem pretty good in my book

About that...what about when the fetus has a brain? Are those abortions acceptable? I'm looking up what defines a human during conception/birth/etc. and the line is becoming increasingly blurred. No brain = no consciousness = no person = no murder. -

Because Harper is a weirdo who likes to mimic the US. -
Erwin_Rommel wrote: »I agree that outlawing abortions would have the undesirable effect of increasing underground abortions. However, I think the root of the problem is the mentality that people have about this.
I highly doubt the mental aspect would stop people.
For example: A 16 year old girl decides to have sex for the first time, and doesn't use protection. She is now pregnant, and is too afraid to tell her parents since abortions are now illegal.
She wants to get rid of the baby as fast as she can. So she somehow finds someone in an alley that will do an abortion. Next thing you know the girl is dead with a coat hanger up her ******. -

The video tells how he doesn't want to control people and how the world is rich and can support everyone. But Greed has made men evil and made a world of hate, how the misery upon us is not our fault but the greed and bitterness of some men that fear human progress.
He is trying to awaken the public to the fact that people are being controlled and he wants to stop that. He wants to bring the power back to the people so they can make the world a better place.
But the big greedy men arent gonna let him do that. so ohwell. -
Erwin_Rommel wrote: »So according to you, my choices are either scientific murder or primitive, brutalized murder? Both ways a baby is literally ripped apart. What is the difference?
And are those really the only two options? I have a sister who probably would have been aborted if your perfect world had been instituted. Yet today, because of alternatives like adoption, people like her can live because of choices besides your neat little barbaric catch 22.
But it is my decision because I have a impact, however miniscule, on who is chosen to make the decision that will be the final word in law.
I agree that outlawing abortions would have the undesirable effect of increasing underground abortions. However, I think the root of the problem is the mentality that people have about this.
In other words, they think like this:
Good discussion here guys.
Wouldn't it be better to just simply tackle the root of the problem, stopping people from being pregnent in the first place? NO concieving= no need to abort in the first place.
Yeah i agree, any life no matter how small is still a life and needs to be treasured. Abortion is a bad thing, though some times people have no choice. -
He wants to allow states to ban and criminalize homosexual marriage.
homosexualty is actually a genetic thing, they were essentialy borned that way. They can't really change how they were born as. It would be the same as criminalizing some one for being born black or with green eyes, etc. -
He wants to allow states to ban and criminalize homosexual marriage.people like erwin use 100% religion and emotion to make their decisions. use logic for once.
baby never lived=baby never died.
you eat eggs, dont you?
I am afraid that people have always used emotional more than logic to make decisions, thats is kind of what makes humans, human. computer use logic, while human use emotion.
" eat eggs" thats is why there are some veg that doesn't eat eggs. but to think about it, a fruit is sort of a egg too( I mean it does serve a reproductive role) -

Which is why I'm against him... -
Yeah....but having green or black eyes doesn't make you more susceptible to aids.homosexualty is actually a genetic thing, they were essentialy borned that way. Also, i'd like to see your evidence that it is a genetic thing.
You also realize that predators could use this argument that they were born that way. With an affinity for younger people....just throwing that out there. -

Except that consensual sex with another adult harms no one, and ****** a child does. -

You are seriously lost.
Learn genetics before claiming that homosexuality is something that is uncontrollable.
Regardless, Ron Paul advocates that the STATE decide whether or not that is an issue. So a gay population could none the less move to a state with other gays and then make laws using the true democratic system as opposed to forcing others into their view. IT works both ways. -

Because it's that easy to pick up, move, and find a new job.
