You're a moron, the i7 is only marginally better. IT's not worth the extra hundred or so dollars.
Also OP, the PC is great other than the video card, if you were going all out monetarily you should have gone for a 6950.
Oh, if you paid over 1000 for that you got ripped off. -

Chill, what gives you the right to call me a moron?
I7 is better then I5, that's a fact, if it's better it's worth it, are you stupid? :L -

Price to performance wise the i5 is superior, not to mention the i5 performed better in a few tests. Though I can't really explain that one. -
Depending on the budget, i5 may suite him well. In the future although, he may regret not getting the i7 2600k. Since more games is moving towards HT and multiple cores. I wonder, what was your budget?
You do realize the i5 and i7 have the same number of cores and threads right? -

but it's not worth the money, just a bad choice, just buy a good cooling system and OC the i5, i think enough Oc'ing will match the performance.
OT: the computer is good, altough you should've took another VC, like a GTX 560 or an HD 6950, the HD 6850 is just overpriced

its is NOT superior. Its just more bang per buck.
you say its barely better... yet the i5 is superior? -
The i7 got hyperthreading, the i5 does not. Maybe you got something wrong. You do realize the i5 and i7 have the same number of cores and threads right?
An i7 for a gaming pc is wasted money. You won't get more FPS cause you will most likely have a GPU limit.
Btw I prefer the i5-2400 over the i5-2500k. The 2400 runs at <1V and so you don't even hear the boxed cooler
Btw² Nice built. -

The i7 has higher potential headroom for overclocking. Theoretically it should be better, but look up testing of the processors against each other, the i5 pulls ahead in several tests including music decoding.
The i7 is OVERALL a better choice, but only barely due to its overclocking room and general performance increase due to a raised clock speed.
The i5 is better because with the extra 100 dollars you could upgrade to a 6950 and a better cooling system for the i5 and just overclock it. At that point the i5 was such a drastic performance increase for the same price as having gotten the i7 it is completely pointless.
If you want to get an i7 there is no problem with it, overclock it and it's great, but there is absolutely no reason to take it over an i5.
@smagjus right sorry, forgot about the hyperthread to double the potential thread count which realistically doesn't matter due to most software not using excessive amounts of threads and even if they did the processor being so fast anyway it's pointless, AMD however DOES make great use of theirs. owait. -

The fact that its better is a reason to do so. Most people here mommy and daddy buy their stuff so to them money is no object.
since money is no object i7!

The case is only 800, but the total is 1100 because i also bought the monitor, speakers, a mouse pad, and wins7. Also the deal was pretty good, i got upgraded from hd radeon 6770 to 6850, 4gb to 8 gb of ram, a free thermaltake challenger pro keyboard, and free shipping. So i dont think i get ripped offYou're a moron, the i7 is only marginally better. IT's not worth the extra hundred or so dollars.

Actually i researched on the i5 2500k processor and it doesnt have threads or whatever that thing is. -
Awful. Awful. Awful. Awful. So, start the flaming at me, how does the FX series perform? :xI_LoveTheUSA wrote: »The case is only 800, but the total is 1100 because i also bought the monitor, speakers, a mouse pad, and wins7. The hyperthreading is for the most part pointless. You can argue that in the future it will be more beneficial to have more threads, but the fact it processes data in microseconds makes it pointless anyway, you would never actually SEE a difference unless you benchmarked.
But yeah, for 800 that was a pretty good deal overall. -

guess AMD is losing my subscription, i'm going to build a new computer, budget: 3k dollah, i'll have a fun, fun time C: -
Goddamn people in here are dumb.
Almost as bad as the Steam forums.
This is what you get when you try to talk technology with downies. Learn your lesson Moof.
Also, I guarantee nobody here has ever extensively benchmarked in their life.
It's okay, a hundred dollars more and you get 2 extra numbers beside the i.
TWO WHOLE NUMBERS. -

Good, the quad core FX has to be overclocked to even MATCH the i3 2100 in performance. Their flagship quad. Has to be overclocked, to match a dual core locked processor. -
i'm brazillian, i need to buy part by part to have a nice price, the packs are generally either too expensive, or too shoppy... e-e
I'll pay you to have sex with me, then you can buy many packs!
But no seriously, drop the AMD. It's god awful. -
