    gtx 590 SLI + 2700k + 16gb ram + 2tb + WATERCOOLING=SET FORLIFE

doubt you'd be set for life, more like you'd be set for the next 10 years IF no new technology comes out

no new technology will come out in the next 10 years.
  • If your looking building a computer that will atleast keeps you update in 5 years these should satisfy your needs.

    Msi deluxe motherboard
Core i7 960 ( it should include with factory cooling CPU fan.)
    8gb Patriot DDR3 ram
1TB hard drive 7200 rpm ( tigerdirect has a really cheap ones compare to newegg.)
Ok, Graphics Card might be the hardest part decision of buying, but if I'm you u should 2way SLI a EVGA 550 ti or just buy a EVGA 560 ti ( tip : get the 2GB EDITION.)
Case: Cooler master half or Antec case
Power supply: Corsair 800 psu make sure its compatible of doing 2way SLI ( do not buy cheap power supply. )
OS: burn a crack version on a cd ( window 7 64 bit.)
This system should be good in the next 5 years

New tech will be out soon enough.
Unfortunately games development is thumbnailed by console development, but the likes of Xbox 360 and PS3 are starting to struggle with high intensive games such as BF3 and LA Noire.

That rig'd set him for the next 3, 4, maybe 5 years, but yeah, 10 years would be stretching it quite far.

The i7 960 is easily outperformed by the i5 2500k.
Patriot latency timings aren't that great, neither is their overclocking potential.
2GB GDDR5 in a 560 Ti would be useful solely for recording. Much like the 2GB 460, the 560 Ti doesn't have enough raw power to use that memory for huge resolution gaming, as intended.

    Other than that, nice build.
  • Ya but Core i7 960 render faster than Core i5 it really depends on your graphic card. Gaming is not based in CPU speed maybe a little but for the most part graphics card is the most important component of a gaming pc.

AMD 8 core is good too. They set a world record one of fastest proccesor after overclocking it.

If you were really serious, I would invest in a sound card and some senhiesers. That should bring that up to a ~800 $ build.

you forgot a hard drive other than that it seems alrite this one.
for hard drive i would go 120gb ssd verterx 2.5 and a WD black caviar 1tb

bra caviar blacks are 200 dollars.
  • Juice u still rock with 5770?
Btw i tried to crossfire 5770 and im surprise with the result, it's like a 580 gtx.

thats not bad, ok get a 500 wd blue then you cheap ass

It depends entirely on the game's engine, there's no set layout for how any game runs on any PC.

Some games need a great CPU but a mediocre GPU, such as: GTA IV, Mafia II, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., CoD Black Ops, Brink, and even CS:S to an extent.

Some need a great GPU, and will run on a single core just fine, such as: Far Cry 2, Aliens vs Predator, CoD6, Unreal Tournament 3, Crysis, Just Cause 2, Metro 2033.

I'm not speaking blindly here. I benchmark many games including all those mentioned above, on all of my four different rigs.

And that AMD 8 core is terrible, a huge let down. It's passmark is embarrassing.

i use the 5750 atm,but i'm upgrading to a gtx 560. And yea the 5770 crossfired will give good results.

A 1tb harddrive isnt worth 200 dollars IMO, id wait till the price drops back down.
  • i have 2tb harddrive 7200 rpm for 189.99 got it in black friday.

I quoted these to be a little harsh and say that it is bull**** - sorry, but people don't learn it in a friendly way. The CPU is outdated like Cookz already said. The RAM is oversized - he is looking for budget rig not for super-ha.xor-1337-rig. Using two midrange cards for dual GPU settings like Crossfire or SLI is one of the worst things you can do. It simply doubles the FPS you need to play fluently -> wasted money. And a cracked windows? No comment...

Listen to what he says. Although our opinions about power supplies differ he knows more than me about good rigs.
  • I don't recommened shopping at ibuypower nor cyborpower. If your looking for a custom build or prebuild, I'd suggest DigitalStorm. Unless you're shopping Newegg, I suggest that you build a computer. You should post your resolution so everyone can know :) If you save around 1080k and don't want to go through the hassle of building, get the ODE lvl 0 from Digitalstorm. Just my opinion.

Also, you may not need to SLI with your resolution. (Dont listen to everyone) Tri SLI could be useless also depending on your res and games you play. And new Nvidia cards should be coming out soon, so 590/580 could be useless also for you. You can also Oc a 560 ti to preforme like a ,570. I see people recomending a 800W, when you can simply buy a 750W corsair HX that is more efficient and most likely all you need.
  • already blowing your prize money on depreciating assets? nice.

Better than blowing it on things that merely increase your physical appearance. The richest people in the world are absolutely hideous.
  • What encouraged you to make such a statement? Physical appearance is important, and I was leaning more towards actually putting the money away and/or investing than blowing it on a depreciating asset. Please oh please do not reply to my posts.

Physical appearance is important, but only in certain situations.

  • what point are you trying to make by posting a 70 year old mexican? appearance has nothing to do with success.

So explain how physical appearance is important.

i believe on 60 minutes did a story on how better looking people get the job versus not so pretty people but with equal resumes etc, evident in both men and women
  • Landing jobs easier than the bad looking person? Feeling confident? Just because the richest people in the world aren't all that attractive (mainly because they are fairly old) doesn't convey the point you are trying to make which I believe is rich people can't look good. Firstly, you're wrong. Secondly, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. People might find Carlos Slim one of the sexiest guys in the world, while others may find him hideous. I don't know where this debate that you made is going.

Rich people can look good. Anyone can to be fair. I just don't see the point in blowing money on it, and no that isn't an excuse for my looking unattractive. I just don't particularly care about physical appearances.

    you'd get caught mirin
  • you'd get caught mirin
    I'm always mirin'

I'm just waiting for limes to scrim with denxi and gang again in UrT, but this time with a mic so we can hear his manly voice that I'm sure portrays how buff he is with ease.

no, I've scrimmed with him before, I know he has a normal voice, I just can't remember it clearly.
  • Yes, but why did you suddenly mention dedicating money towards your physical attractiveness was a waste after I said Brando was blowing his prize money on a depreciating asset such as a computer? I sense some insecurity. Depending on what type of person you are, "blowing" money towards your attractiveness may be more beneficial than getting a new computer, or vice versa (let's say if you're an actor? or some sort of known politician)

Anyway, Brando is pretty lost. That's alright though, he's still young.

It's only $800 for a computer calm down, that's not even that much..
