you need one to point out previous ghost position... just like you need one to point out previous position of the opponent on an S&D map. -
For those of you that do not use a headset on GR for GM get some. I have had a variety of headsets. Spanning for a cheap $6.00 3.5mm behind headset, a $85 set of sony, and even a $100 set of logitech wireless (do not buy) and the headsets below are the best I have found. I have yet to try the logitech g35 hopefully my wife will get them for me for Christmas.
even with breath and footsteps down you can hear ghost for a good 10 to 30 feet away like they are standing next to you. Makes it really easy to find ghost. Warning you will shoot a lot of ghost with out them moving. Be prepared to be called a hack and be kicked.
I know I have been a lot.

I bought an 8$ pair of JVC ear buds with bass and I can hear ghosts easily.
Suffice to say, so long as the headset you are using is of a decent quality and brand it will make a substantial difference.
Compared to the very crappy headphones I had before it was like night and day.
Helps in every mode, but makes ghost mode almost too easy against nearly all ghosts.
The one mode it can be overwhelming in is tdm, especially egypt.
Since you can hear everything it all adds up really fast

I have the SAME EXACT headset FTW!!! Great sound quality, worth the purchase. I suck at GM so FAIL

anyways sound cards are ok. but you still need a decent headset to transfer it. its like having a car turning out 8,000hp and not having tires to transfer that power to the drag strip. (fyi 8,000hp is roughly what a nitro rail car puts out)
