M4A1 or Tar21

Tar,
Easy to learn spray, fast reload, and it zooms in, Great for CQC and long range, powerful
M4,
Very accurate, fast fire rate, good damage, medium to long range, fast reload
I would have to choose tar, I do alot of GM and TD which means for CQC, but its also good for SnD but has a tad bit much recoil which makes it a bit worse for SnD. Though if you are 1 to wait it out and have them come to you then you are better off with the Tar-21 as where the M4 would be good for TD where you get alot of different close-mid range but tar can also play that role with the zoom on it.
Imo, Tar
EDIT: Though the AUG is a possibility too,
Pros: Easy to learn spray pattern, Larger bursts, Scoped, power, accuracy
Cons: RELOAD TIME TAKES 4 EVER!!!,not full damage thru box
notes: plays out nice as a sniper and assault or CQC which ever your doing works great in all modes -
I have to agree with Fireagle.
I used to use all versions of M4A1 until I bought a TAR. Now I very rarely use an M4A1. Only in TD sometimes.
The scope on TAR is great for quick zooming long range. I never liked the AUG very much but each to their own. -

M4 for an over rated gun.
Tar for a competitive multi-purpose gun.
tar = Scope; Sniping, long rang single shots, and CQC
M4 = Mid range spraying your ass off, and sometime's single shooting.
Tar does have a bit more recoil which should rule it out of being a "noob" gun but it may also fit the category because of it's high damage and accuracy but for it's recoil, it really shoves the accuracy of it off. thus making it perfect weapon for almost anything.
M4 does have faster reload and better accuracy and lower recoil which would put it in the "noob" slot as well, but when you start spraying it's hard to predict the spray pattern which isn't very tight. The tar on the other hand has a tight pattern but the recoil throws that off
though the cool down time on the tar is a tad faster makes it better then the M4 but then you gotta look at price and rank. 50,000 GP (I believe) is quite high for much recoil compared to the M4's 43,000 GP (I believe) so which is best? It really depends on you. Are you a quick pattern learner? Tar. Are you needing to hold A site or B site? M4. Do you need high damage? Tar. are you good at single shotting? M4. Are you a competitive player? Tar.
There are many way's of choosing the right gun but you have to think of what it is good for. Imo out of these 2 I would have to pic Tar but if I were to pick any for this time of stuff it would be the XM8 regular. The XM8 is yes pricey but the performance matches the price very well. XM8 has a low recoil, high accuracy, high damage (And full threw box) which rivals it to the Scar-L which has this all. But the XM8 does lack a bit in firing rate and not so good for CQC where the M4 is. So it really depends on what you like. -

That's not true, as I stated it depends on what you are comfortable with and how you will use it. You can very well use the M4 for sniping. I have many times.

I had a Tar for a few weeks and it was great, i can't even remember why i got rid of it.
I'm using M4a1 atm and i can't stand it compared to my Tar, it's also incredibly over-used, which is another reason i hate using it.
It's reasonably rare to find a player using Tar now'days.. -
