For some people it wouldn't work.
There are some simply thinges about it.
First: If you live close to the server (like me, from Holland to London) it is low. So it don't take much to the gamserver. If your further away it will go quicker by ignoring some things about the internet.
Second: it depends also which speed of internet you use. I use 60Mb fiber power. This is very quick, because I download with 7Mb a second. But some country's don't got anny high internet speed, so this could me a problem too.
I don't really know a calculation to know how much your ping is lower. But I'm sure that these things are the most influence.
Maybe this will help a little bit. No for to get lower ping, but just why at some people it don't work.

what about windows xp ?

coz i am using dsl connection (512 kbs/s) , & my ping becomes 110-130 from 5 am until 11 am , then after that , it becomes 500-800 !

i got crazy of this problem & i can't play cross fire if i didn't wake up early to play it.....

I'm guessing that the packet flow was already stressed somewhere else, (router?) and increasing the packets allowed to leave the computer per ms killed it.

Wow which win do u use?
Im using win7 and this tip stabilized my ping.
Btw, 2 days ago my ping went up to 150 in uk servers, but day after everything was ok. Maybe you should wait.

Tried this out, my ping is the same however its less stable.. it moves from around 64-71 where as before it didnt.

I want 40ish ping instead of my 60 ping
