....I seriously think you have a problem.clearly you don't watch hockey. Go to YouTube type in Detroit vrs Colarado see what happens then come here again.

    >Implying I said that every time a team trash-talks it is for more viewers.
  • The languages that will be used will not qualify for the 'T rating' because it sttes that anything that belongs in the 'T' category will only contain minimal violence and infrequent use ofstrong language. I would think Z8 have a chat filter just to meet those guidelines.

I don't want to take this thread too OT. But Z8Games is the name of the portal that is run by G4Box. And Smilegate are the developers. A lot of the chat filter stuff comes from the developers. Some things can't be helped or find their way in to the filter without our knowledge (see some of the recent filter updates). There are some solutions to this, but others we have to live with it.

The chat filter in game though really shouldn't affect trash talking.

On the forums here we've really never strictly policed the trash talking. The problem comes with 2 or 3 specific members of the community who have nothing to actually trash.

Coming on to the forums here and saying "You *!&$ Suck!" isn't really trash talking at all. It's not saying anything, and it's just bypassing the filter for the sake of ticking off a moderator or an admin.

Being an admin here for the last 2+ years, and working with WOGL and other places. I've come to learn when a user is just throwing a tantrum for the sake of it, or when they are just having it out with the other side.

It's my feeling that trash talking in general is always going to be a personal opinion of the people involved. Everyone has different levels of what they feel is appropriate. In Game we censor the F word. Sounds obvious, but is saying "F You" better or worse than "I hope your mother dies"? I'm not so sure. It's all a level of opinion and how people take it. The same could be said for a lot of things in life. Some people just take things more personal than others.

And my final opinion on the subject relate to the last two paragraphs. Trash Talking in my mind is only actually FUN when it's done properly. Throwing a bunch of curse words or meaningless internet meme's (cool story bro for example) does absolutely nothing. Those things are used so much that they mean next to nothing, and likely all you're going to do is tick off the administration.

Trash Talking is as much what you say and how you say it as it is as much about the administrators hating or liking it. If its done properly and within the limits there's going to be less of a "fight" with the administration, and more a fight with your opponents.

Hello CF Community! go go go go go ok ok

    I just laughed ahahahhahaaha!
  • This is tough for me.. kind of on the fence about this. On one hand I try to show professionalism in matches and in e8 (whilst screaming at my team) but at them same time I used to be a huge crap talker.. as doop knows the days of AmpedGaming for CS:S so many years ago.

    So I'll say this.

Let the crap talk be on the forums. Let the crap talk be in interviews. Let the crap talk be in scrims. But when you step in the game come match time.. a team should be more worried about laying it all on the line than watching chat for the next message. If you want to play a game that is a essentially a chat room.. go play WoW. But I know when I compete, regardless of the out come, I'm playing to win and thats the what I try to teach the up and coming players.

    agreed, good post slip.
  • This is a game. If you cant deal with the fact that you dont win all the time and have a little bit of humility you should go sit in a dark corner with your self consuming ego and leave the rest of us to have some fun.
