What is the best PC for gaming ?????????
Okay guys, so what do you think the best Desktop/Laptop is on the market.
I am looking at the Dell Alienware M17x or Area51 and the Visionman Ghost laptop.
Check out The Dell Alienware & Visionman site's, and look at the 3 I am looking at.
And tell me what you think!
Thank You, from DR6

I myself was looking at those alienware laptops and ive heard a lot of people say not to get them because theyre cooling system isnt the best. If you play too long the laptop will over heat on you which is something you dont want to happen. Just build your own i heard it can be cheaper building your own rather than buying one already made

Alienware or Dell XPS
if u got the money id for sure go with the M17x , u can always have them upgrad any thing u dont like , id get the red glow its awsome. -
Dont waste your money when you could get the same specifications for a fraction of the price building it yourself.
A fairly typical high end gaming pc but not overly expensive like an alienware would be something like.
i7\i5\Phenom2 quad for processor.
Mobo with Crossfire or SLI support.
6gb\4gb Ram (i7 can only take triple channel ram not regular dual channel)
64 bit version of Windows.
ATI 5870 or a GTX 295 if your an nvidia fanboy. (But the 295 is two cards stuck together so best to get the 5870 or wait till nvidia bring out their next generation cards next year)
WD black \ Samsung f1 or f3 \ Solid state drive for Hard-drive.
Corsair or BeQuiet 600w+ Power supply unit.
A nice case like the Antec 902.
Extra case fans for Processor and GPU cooling.
Obviously this isnt for crossfire, this game needs hardly anything good to run, this is for running modern games at 1900x1200 res. The lower your Resolution the less power you need. -

Same except I have 4 gigs of 1066 ddr2 ram and it was $750 about 3 years ago including $400 barebones.
Gaming laptops are the biggest contradictions. -

Hardly. I have an M1730 as my only computer, it's great. I can take it to the library, or to class or whatever if I want to study, but it also runs games very well, and performs like a desktop. It's very well worth the investment. Buying 1 desktop, and 1 laptop is much more expensive. -
why not get a regular dell computer with like 3.0 ghz... yes it would cost like 1,300 or osmething along those lines but gaming computers have a fail cooling system and all they are good for is gaming...
Whatever this guy said throw it out the window. -_-
A: You're recommending a Dell.
B: If they have a fail cooling system then that is your fault for not getting a better one.
C: They're easily good for more than just gaming. -

Newegg, Zipzoomfly and Directron.
^ Build your own
Now I'm sure everyone will tell you how to build your own PC, most of them are very biased. Check up on review sites, they're biased but they're more up to date on what makes sense.
These sites are great if you're looking to read reviews

If you're looking for more experienced biased people to help you, check out Eggxpert, it's a great site with a lot of experienced builders. -

I know there are laptops with power, but I was just saying that high power doesn't mix well with portability. My $700 desktop used to be just under top of the line when I built it and if I have to do work while at school I use my $200 netbook that isn't the fastest, but gets the job done. I think that's still under the cost of that laptop.
