Nice idea, I'll write it down, but it'll take a while to get to, we still have yet to do the ladder on The Mine.

Also, flame war posts belongs to another thread, k thaanks.
No. They belong to the PMs.
  • try to get an 8 kill with a knife, or even more if you can get an 8kill. have your friends stand in a group of people, and rush with knife, one right click only(shovel/axe test too)
^most ive gotten was 3 lol.

i personally alwasy wanted to try the awm one, but nobody would ever line up xD

So are you asking if you can get more then 8 kills...?

Killed 6 people on gm one knife swing when they were crowding the bomb. Ended the round an got kicked for 'hack' ha.. they were all hs too

Also to the spop myth-> it can have a mental disadvantage while shooting at an SPOP whether you think it or not. try shooting a car from a mile away. then try to shoot a can, an you will think you wont hit it, and you will be at a mental disadvantage while trying to shoot it.

If you want to help, send me a PM with your IGN and I'll send you mine, I'm usually on around... 5-10 PM EST on weekdays? And basically anytime on weekends.

My IGN is PanicShot and 5-10 PM is a good time for me. As for what I can bring to the party I've got a SPOP character and many many broken weapons.
  • 0.o the hitbox for the female and male characters are not the same. it is so much easier to snipe a man running than the female character. also the ladder in the mine works. i have seen many do it lol

Too bad you're wrong. A GM even said that the hitboxes are the same.
  • well for me when i hit a little to the side of the thin body of the female it doesn't hit them... so... and i am pretty good with the awm. might not be but to me i see it as skinnier and harder to hit

that has to be seen to be beleived.
  • A few things I was going to investigate (though i'm fairly sure I know for sure) and video but never had the time or will to do it is this:

    1. Flash Grenades
When you get flashed, as long as it is enough to go to the full white screen, you freeze at one point and the game stops taking commands from your keyboard/mouse. After that, it catches up really fast, so it looks like you lagged.

Some interesting things can happen here to, such as reloads taking less than half a second, you thinking you're all the way behind a wall crouching when all that happens is you crouching right where you got flashed, and so on and so forth.

My character is a SPOP with the flash reducing shades.

2.Grenade pick-up on Alaska and Halloween
Is it faster to start a reload, pick up a grenade then switch back? Or to just reload and let it go.

    3.Interp and graphical delays
This issue is one people never seem to believe me on. There is a very small amount of people in this entire game that understand this concept. As it is hard to explain, i'll try to really spell it out.

Okay, so this is what happens when someone turns around a corner. The person turning the corner (person A) notices someone running in a straight line towards them, person A has a fairly fast reaction time so they headshot them fast. What person B sees is him running toward a bend in a wall, then bullets fly >Out< of the wall and kill him then he sees Person A on his screen. Basically what it looks like is that Person A shot him through a wall then pop'd out.

I am not sure what to attribute this to, some random coding error or if it is infact due to the interp. I will say this, although ping and the difference between the two do play a minor role in this problem, it IS NOT ping that really does this.

This also can be seen when you try to hide behind an object yet get killed by a 'curving bullet' / 'lag shot'. On your screen you are behind something and safe while on the other persons screen you are just heading behind it.

So a few things you could capture here that I have noticed:

    - Peeking out (and see how long it takes for the second person to notice)

    - Hiding back in (and see how long you can see him when hes behind cover)

    - One person continually trying to keep a person in sight while the other tries to hide ( this one is hard to explain but I have noticed this and it falls under my theory fairly well) Basically, the person hiding could never see the person chasing him if done right. I've come close to it happening for a long time, upwards of 3-4 seconds where we were going in circles and I kept getting shot at (and hit) while not once being able to see the guy chasing me.

    4. Gun reloads and takeout/switch
Though BlindRob has done the deagle reload, I was wondering about different guns AND how fast some others takeout/switch.

    5. WallBangs
Though I already know all the guns that can punch through boxes and such at full damage, a nice video showing which ones can would be neat.

    6. Shooting through boxes and such
Sometimes if you shoot at objects on odd angles I notice (or I think I notice) that sometimes the bullets end up going slightly off from where I want them to hit. It also ends up showing two bullet holes on the object instead of one when I shoot. I don't really know, was just wondering.

    7. Armor
See which guns punch through armor.

    8. Distance - Damage
Different guns do less damage while at a longer range. Some also have odd quirks about them such as a deagle doing 89 long range headshot, type89 and aug doing 99 damage long range headshots, etc.

There is more but that should be enough to get you started. Have fun.
  • Is it possible to kill BlindRob? I don't think it is but I would like to see it tested.

I wasnt even going to bother but whatever. here is a reply from [GM]Saidin stating that SPOP is EXACTLY the same as all other characters. It may "seem" harder to kill SPOP but it is all in your head.

The character looks physically smaller however the hitboxes are the same.
Movement speeds are determined by the type of weapon you are currently holding not the type of character you use.

  • Ten kills in one shot is NOT possible.

Bust it. I dare you ;)
  • Just an idea but maybe see if you can physically get a bullet to turn a corner or a column, and hit an enemy maybe not killing but inflicting damage. I know lag would probably bust this myth but just a thought.

Also how many people an AWM's bullet can go through at once at close range/long range. Maybe try headshots then body shots
    .

I totally had this idea a while ago, had forgotten about it until now.

no, sorry if i came off unclear.

i mean, in a free for all match have as many people as you can stand in a bunch, and charge them with one right click, and see how many you can kill in that ONE swing.

i know you can get more than 8 kills =p ive only done it like twice sadly, but i know you can =p.

I explained the ping issue VERY clearly in this thread:
    http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=10045

    Regarding SPOPS:
Hitbox is the same. Character models are different.
Firing into the airspace right next to her abdomen will kill her, and firing onto her b.o.o.b. tips will NOT kill her. I have tried this before. Let's talk about something else. Notice the BL/Terrorists have huge forearms? They're as thick as the arm+clothing of the GR/CounterTerrorists. They just re-skinned it but hitbox is the same. Get the concept now?

Regarding posting of videos on Youtube:
If possible use normal letterbox/4:3 mode in game. The game's widescreen mode just stretches the gameworld. Use Fraps if possible and edit straight into H.264 for maximum clarity. Here is an example:

  • Get all the different AKs and test the recoil and damage so people will stop thinking that they're different (Kahlan!)

    Seconded.

Also do a side-by-side comparison of the reloads like BlindRob did with the deagle and deagle-camo (anyone feel like including the gold?)

    GG.
    They don´t have a ****.
  • ROFL i <3 this kid.
Spops run faster and although they still have the same hitboxes, its a trick of the mind, your mind tells you to hit the body of a spop.
    Confusing.

I remember reading that, and though you get the idea behind it, it can't be ping that is causing it. This is because even with a friend right beside me the issue still happens. Try it out yourself with two even pinged people. This problem is something unique with CrossFire that I have never seen in a game before. Not even when someone joins a Source server with over 150 ping.

tried that with ak and psg on alaska, and it reloads as fast as you can press QQ.
wep has to start being reloaded for it to work. i think.

Trust me I have tried this with my 2 brothers sitting right next to each other. Well ping factors in but the game coding is also inefficient, amplifying ping issues. When I tried it with other people the lag in Vent makes timings unreliable.

My guess is they wrote this in C+ with some editor. If they wrote it in assembly language it would have been more efficient.
