My first hero mode wasn't so great, the second time I played as soon as I entered the game I was hero. All I did was just spam nades :P

There really is no difference between HM and MM.
Only in HM you get a different char temporarily and the mutants spawn in a certain amount of times when they die. I'm not too pleased at all with this patch honestly.
