Ping...
I don't really play this game much anymore but when I log on to play with old friends especially after 5PM my ping is outrageous. It started since the last patch but before that it also did it, just never this severe. My pings around 230-270 now. I don't know whats causing this, I'm running Windows 7 32 bit and I'll give my specs if necessary.

Yeah since the poorly made x-mas patch, there'd been ping problems left n right. I can tell even during the day that it's gonna jump to 200. My normal ping spikes go a little over 100 but now-a-days, it jumps to 200 then drops to 80.. When 5pm hits, it jumps to 200 and stays at 200 and higher. Definetly crossfire's servers. Nothing wrong with the users.

I had the same problems many times... When i Love to play at nights, ""cause On the day Im busy or something"" The ping starts to spike.. Really annoying if you're a Sniper-man.... I started to think.. ooh, maybe my computter need to rest or something haha, But I think it's the server's who laggs on the night... -
Good to see I'm not the only one, funny how my pings regular in any other game...
used to have 36 ping in the beta.. then they moved servers and i was getting 60ish now im getting 60-70 sometimes 80 range for my ping. and now i see that the clan pages are messed up....AGAIN! ping isn't so bad for me but what i can suggest is something a buddy gave me. what this does is it unbundles your packets. windows by default has them bundled. meaning it tells the server "just send em" instead of "wait...wait...ok got it send the next one!" i have noticed better reg since i have used this and my ping doesn't seem to matter with this. also you ping will fluxuate but overall it is more stable for gameplay than what we have now.
all this does is changes a 1 to a 0 or vice versa. there is even an undo option to revert it back if you don't like it. =D
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info13581-LeatrixLatencyFix.html
its on a wow site but it works for everything that uses the internet.
this is on the page for it. so if your OS doesnt support it you dont have to waste your time. it also explains it better than I can.
System Requirements
Leatrix Latency Fix is supported on these operating systems only.- Windows XP (SP2 or higher)
- Windows Vista (SP1 or higher)
- Windows 7
Macintosh users should read the relevant section in the FAQ below.
How It Works
Online games generally use the TCP protocol which requires that network segments sent to your computer be acknowledged in order to provide a reliable connection.
Windows bundles these acknowledgements together and sends them in pairs. While this is an efficient way of dealing with them generally, the inevitable delays caused by the bundling process increase latency considerably.
This is because when Windows queues up an acknowledgement in order to bundle it with the following one, the game server has to wait for the acknowledgement timer to expire before sending new data.
Leatrix Latency Fix removes the acknowledgement bundling process so that an acknowledgement is sent immediately for every segment that's received. This produces a significant reduction in latency as there is no longer a delay before new data is sent to your computer.
In a normal networking environment, you would prioritise network efficiency over latency and use the Windows defaults, but in online games the opposite is true and you want the lowest latency you can possibly get.
Typical Scenario
If you could listen to a conversation between your computer and the game server, this is what you would hear.
Before Leatrix Latency Fix is installed:- Server: "Ok computer, I just sent a data packet over to you, got it?"
- Your computer: ...
- Server: "Come on, answer me! I don't have all day! Stop wasting time!"
- Your computer: ...
- Server: "Ok, forget it, I've waited long enough, sending another one over! Got it?"
- Your computer: "Yep, got that one, also got the one you sent before, thanks."
- Server: "Well, why didn't you acknowledge the first one when I sent it? I was waiting ages!"
- Your computer: "Sorry, I'm just trying to make the network more efficient by bundling the acknowledgements together in pairs. This is how I'm setup by default."
- Server: "Ok computer, I just sent a data packet over, got it?"
- Your computer: "Yep, send the next!"
- Server: "That was fast! Ok, here's another, got that?"
- Your computer: "Yep, send the next!"
- Server: "Wow! What an improvement! Now that's more like it!"
- Your computer: "Yep, it's certainly keeping me on my toes, thanks!"

So they can fix it.
First can some one post the IP of the servers so we can run a ping test.
Second I have this problem, after the server crashed and no ones on I get like 32 ping, at night now I get 260 to 300 steady.
So........first this is for us to give them useful information, one by pinging there servers to see if your just hitting a bad jump between here and their.
I dont know if they need this but, if your DSL, Cable modem, and how fast your internet is.
Post any other information that you think is useful for them to help solve it. -
I've done anything possible and yet my ping is over 100.... This is not the users fault, it is THE GAME'S FAULT. Just they're too lazy and have the ego the size of the continent to call themselves on it.. All I've gotten is that it's a connection issue.. Connection issue my donkey. I live in US, my normal ping is supposed to be 80 but what do I get instead? 280... Other than completely rebuilding my PC, there are no other fixes for some problem that is not the users fault...

In any case, It's an unplayable ping... Which makes me want to leave CF all the more to play better designed games. -
Fix it please? Thats as nice as your going to get it Z8.
I mean dam, I live in OHIO, you know right below your servers, and get 200-280 ping. Only like 3 months ago i got like 32ping.
Stop Failing trying to fix the problems caused by the overwhelming amount of high pingers, ban the ****s instead. Fix issues with the game and dont worry about problems caused by people with high ass ping. I want my 32 ping back so i can play the game I invested over $300 into. THIS issue should have been fixed by now, not just sat on for three months. Fix your ****. -
I may leave CF and play another game.
Who's with me?
not me
put a lot of time into my account am not going to up and leave it, i just want my ping back so i can play the game in the afternoon and not just the morning.
i could just play in US South Sever where my ping is super low, but i like to scrim more then playing with ***ing BRs
