My opinion on religion:
Hear the about the de vinci code? and how some people take the book a little seriously?
yea, religion is that, novels that people took too seriously. science has already proven religion wrong its just that people haven't chosen to listen yet. -

My family is Methodist Christian.
My dad and I, are thinkers. We tend to stay away from religious ideas.
There's nothing in physical history that proves your original statement. The best evidence we have of this event specifically relating to the person who would be referenced as the Son of God is in a book. The Bible.
It should be rephrased to say:
What if the story of Jesus Christ being crucified was never written.
Now before that goes too far, let me preempt some of the discussion by saying there is evidence that Crucifixions existed and that someone who might have been Jesus at the time was crucified.
But the heart of what your saying is what if the people and events that spawned the entire Christianity story and religion never existed. So you should just rephrase things by asking the question of what if the first testaments and first versions of the Bible were never written.
It stands to reason that it might be a more interesting debate.
And I should say my opinions are similar to STYX. An agnostic. A scientist looking for proof, but conceding that we will never be able to prove everything. -

or God is something we made up, to help us survive loneliness -

To be fair to you. You're right. But as long as we're not Slandering, and keep this relatively intellectual there's nothing wrong with the thread.
@munzta, your line is just another way to ask the same question. Essentially why does religion exist and why do people cling to it so much.
One of those debates would be the need for self gratification, or to give us something to survive the loneliness as you say. The problem with getting TOO much into that is that it becomes personal feelings. And then who are we (or anyone) to say what you can and can't believe. And then you could tangent the whole thing off to organized religion or individual belief. etc etc. -

Where did does space start & where it finish?
Where did time start, where does it end?
Well, in perspective, space started when time started, and it will finish when time stops, Time started when man started to write history and it will end when man stops doing it. -
thing is, there is so many religions, they cant all be right. and a lot of them earn a little too much money......
I consider religions highly likely as a type of scam due to the insane amounts the leaders earn, the most obvious one being Scientology.
no one can change my mind on religion unless any 'god' came down from where they were and slapped me across the face. -

you are mixing man-made religions with the reality of "GOD" Two different things. -
I have a blunt attitude of;
"It doesn't matter what would have happened, this is what DID happen, and its not going to change now."
Religiously I'm a bit more vague.
I guess you'd call me a christian, I believe in God, but I have my own ideas about him and I'm not letting anyone else force any into my head anymore. I have very specific and person reasons for believing, but I've never been very religious and prolly won't ever be. I was raised in a small town of religious nut cases, and told all my life that the bible says the world will come to and end before I can grow up. So I don't care much for very religious people.
