crossfire starts in the corner of the screen,......

about 75% of the time when i get to the login page, crossfire gets un-centered .... and there is absolutely nothing i can do to get it synched with my screen.

It is really irritating, to the point that it is just not worth the trouble anymore.
(this used to happen on my old piece-of-crap computer, and it also happens on my new/better computer)

  • What screen resolution are you using? And have you tried changing these settings?
  • crossfire changes the screen resolution to a very low density (and then it is restored to the system set resolution once crossfire ends).

i tried messing with the screen resolution AFTER crossfire had set itself up in the corner, but that did not help, it was still misaligned.

Do you mean when your in the lobby? Because everyone gets the same resolution in the lobby (800x600). And once you join a game, the game should go to your screen resolution.
  • it doesn't matter. it happens originally at the login screen (where you enter your password), but once it gets misaligned i can see the corner of the "crossfire screen" in lower right corner of my regular desktop (which has been switched to the lowest resolution). and then if i do anything in the crossfire screen it remains misaligned, and over to lower corner, and i can only see about a third of the crossfire screen.

as i said...it doesn;t happen every time, probably about half the time.

Have you tried to reset your screen resolution settings both on your computer and in-game?
  • i have tried messing with the computer resolution... and it hasn't helped. but i should point out that the resolution doesn;t seem to be wrong for the game. the window seems to be the correct size (at a low resolution), it just isn;t centered correctly. and i have no way to re-center it, once it goes a kilter
  • here is a screen cap of my desktop view.

the crossfire window is the right size for my monitor... it just isn;t centered. If i finish logging on, it remains in the lower right corner, with about half of the screen obscured, and unplayable.

i have no way to re-center it
  • i cant be the only one this is happening to....

Well.... there is a option in-game which lets you center the game windows.

Right now, I would suggest to manually reset you game settings by going to the CrossFire Folder and deleting "Systems.dat".

If that does not work then I complete new re-install of the game is needed. Which will most likely solve this problem.

You're not alone,I'm having the same ****ing issue.
    + I can't find the "Systems.dat" file anywhere.
  • I sent a support ticket but they were useless...

it might be a problem with windows 10 but I don't know...might be a recent update that can be uninstalled to fix the issue?

I have the same problem since 3 days -_-
  • Yeah, Fucking. BUMP.

This was never resolved or helped with. I'm having this problem also.

After pressing the big "Play" button the game loads normally and the login is visibly center for a split second then instantly the game uncenters to the corner of the screen, 98% of the time. This occurs when i select Fullscreen in the option menu. I cant login so i gotta force shutdown the game.

When i select windowed mode the screen still goes the the bottom right corner but this time i can actually drag it and login and be in the lobby until i get ingame, its also uncentered like an inch of the right side of the game is chopped off. for example i cant see how ammo i have left.

Uhh my laptop is a better newish one. i bought the best one from staples like half a year ago. Its touchscreen, 16ram and whatnot so its a good one and can run a lot of things really well.
  • I have the same problem. The only thing that seem to work is to change your desktops resolution back and forth when CF starts in the corner. But you have to do it every time you start CF, so no permanent fix.

  • This is an annoying issue. I had it a while back and then it seems to have corrected itself. When I launch Crossfire the Splash page opens full screen and then you get the login prompt. What happens now is that the Splash screen opens full screen but then for the login screen opens off to the lower right showing username and password but cannot see the Exit button or anything else. My screen resolution will go to 1280x1024. Since I can see my desktop I have to (I am on Windows 10 latest) right click, go to Display settings, change back to my recommended 1920x1080, login in and then I can go from there. I am not in Window mode but If I want to fix from here I set it to Window mode, save and then back to full screen mode and save. Next time I launch Crossfire I have to do it again.
It was all good until I had to re-install due to continued Server Errors and getting disconnected and read in forum to uninstall/reinstall. So I did and now I am back to this annoying issue. Something is not stcking somewhere or a file is read only and not taking changes I think.
I should have just kept dealing with the server errors until i got tired and just uninstalled the game completely again and move on with my tired old life.
  • Well here is something you can try for Windows 10 users. Set the Compatibility Mode to Windows 8. Seems to have worked for me. Someone else might have mentioned that
either in this thread or another in the Forum so credit to them.
Right click desktop CF Icon - Properties - Compatibility tab - Check box for Compatibility Mode and set dropdown to Windows 8.
