the game client crashes without giving any error message

I've sent a ticket a few days ago about this topic,
For some reason, the game client keeps crashing with no error message or anything in return.
I can log in and start a game and after a couple of minutes it crashes instantly without me doing anything.
Support replied with that i should re-install the game, and i did. However the problem remains.

I recently installed windows 8.1 Pro, and i had absolutely 0 problems with the game until i updated it. I've been asking around and i was told that there are compatibility problems with 8.1.
Idk what i should do anymore.

Please, help ASAP.
Thanks,..

Edit: I think this problem started ever since i installed the new updates for windows 8.1 Pro. Might it be compatibility problem with the new update or something?!

  • My simple solution will be to close any unwanted programs or any programs that you think could affect CrossFire in anyway. For example, Skype, Rapr, Stream etc

    Start CrossFire and see if this has bee re-solved... If not then try the following solution;

    Add CrossFire to your safe list on your anti-virus and firewall. If you don't know how to do it then reply back here and I will tell you step by step. Try CrossFire again and see if this problem has been re-solved for you.

    Please let me know how things go! And good luck!

    Have you tried to re-install the game in the following order?:

    1. Control Panel -> Z8Games -> CrossFire -> Uninstall CrossFire
    2. Open Up My Computer
    3. Delete the CF directory (Program Files/Z8Games/CrossFire/)
    4. Delete the CF directory (<user>/Document/CrossFire/) (Make sure you back up any photos/screenshots/replays you have etc)
    5. Disable your anti virus
    6. Download the newest client from our downloads site
    7. Install the game from the new download
    8. Add the entire crossfire folder to your antivirus exceptions
    9. Re-enable realtime protection
    10. Run CrossFire as Admin.

    I hope that helps.

    Well, I can no longer help you re-solve this problem. Your best bet is to send in a support ticket, hopefully, they can work out what is going wrong.
  • I think this problem started ever since i installed the new updates for windows 8.1 Pro. Might it be compatibility problem with the new update or something?!

    I doubt it since windows 8 is compatible with Crossfire.

    Then how would you explain all the errors and problems right after the update?

    IT WORKED!!! The game no longer crashes like before. Thank you so much @[MOD]Abel for the solution. Really appreciated :D
  • When you start Microsoft Windows, typically there are several programs that start automatically and run in the background that may interfere with the game. These programs may include antivirus and system utility programs. When you perform a clean startup procedure, you prevent these programs from starting automatically.
