Wave mode class restriction.

Am I only one who thinks z8games should add some kind of class restriction in wave mode that would limit number of same class in teams?

From my point of view seems like most of people (read almost everyone) who were playing wave mode since begining pushed for leveling Blaster so now we have games where whole teams of full leveled blasters overwhelm everyone.
For me that kind of situation is very discouraging so lately only Super solider TD seems like a viable option to get and upgrade my class cards and even if I do level my class cards all the way I don't think I'll have any fun in wave mode because of all those blasterfests.

EDIT: I understand that this thread will discuss a lot about "Blaster" class card because from my point of view that is class card that brings this thread on forum, altough I don't consider nerfing as an option because that is game developers job and I think they have done
a good thing while balancing cards (they know their job). Main problem here is overwhelming numbers of same class cards in room.

I'm sure there is more to say but I can't think of it now but I feel there are more players that feel like me so they know what I think about.
If I think of something I'll edit this post.

Let me know your opinions on this and how you feel about playing wave mode.

  • I believe this belongs in the suggestions sub-forum.
  • Well it is not a suggestion yet, I'm just asking for opinions and am I only one who thinks like this.
I might suggest it later on.
If mods think it should be moved to suggestions sub forum feel free to move it or let me know so I make a new one but I doubt it would do anything.
I haven't picked up right time to think trough all of this so I believe that my first post could have more details and maybe then it would be considered by admins to implement those restrictions
so that is why I'm asking for other opinions on topic so I can edit everything and move it to suggestions.
  • This conflicts with a certain thing, however.

Restricting classes is the same as restricting the amounts of M4s in a room for example. Some people most likely paid for gems to upgrade their Blaster or Shocker to ridicolous levels.

Restricting those people from accessing their desired class is begging for trouble on the forums because of disgruntled players. (Whatever remnant of a player base there may be for Wave Mode lmao)

This all fails on the "If people paid for it, they are allowed to use it" hurdle, in my opinion.

It's fine where it is, it is a discussion at the moment, and so Barracks is fine for it.

OT: It could be good to add it as an option in the menu perhaps, but what happens when someone dies and changes their bag to a class that someone else is using? What happens then?

That is why this is only for Wave mode restriction, where no matter what bag you change to your class stays the same you picked up before you joined match. There are no changing classes in middle of match in Wave mode.

I understand that this issue is happening in Super Solider TD too but considering it is Team Deathmatch while Wave Mode is more of a MOBA where players have to defend their towers and push on enemy towers there are some differences between those two.

Fast respawns on TD kinda counters overwhelming numbers of same classes + player can switch to other class wich gives more options to adapt to battlefield while on the other hand Wave Mode have slower respawn times considering how much time player dies
and there are no class switching in middle of match so if you get overwhelmed in begining there is no coming back.

My bad, sorry, I don't play wave mode much, so not sure how it works for that!

In that case, then yes, sounds like an awesome idea :') But have it as an option for host to turn on/off rather than being enforced?
  • But have it as an option for host to turn on/off rather than being enforced?

Oh yes, I forgot to thank you for that idea, I'll keep that in mind. Giving players an option would be ofcourse better than enforcing anything.
If we would get an option, players that made me make this thread would still be able to play like they do now and others would be able to chose between joining them or making a little different pace of wave mode.
  • No !!

    -1 !!

as I waver I have to disagree with your idea.I get used to use my blaster +10 against rockies with panther +2 & hunter +1 etc' and farming kills on them(some times I even use my laptop and put a spy in the enemy team to kick strong players who join vs + send air plains on my bot and farm even more kills).my K/D on wave mode is like 18.000/ 3.000 in the last time I checked.if you hate strong wave players with high card levels who gather in one team and farm on rockies then I suggest you to make your own room and put the "Balance on" options(or whatever this is called)

It probably isn't a very good idea for your reputation to be openly saying that you plant a spy on the opposite WM Team to kick high level players and boost your KD.

With how small the playerbase for WM is, what do you think are the chances for this to actually happen? My guess would be "slim".

Well you just proved my point why there should be option to limit specific number of same class cards in wave mode. Also I would like to say that this has nothing with hatred for high leveled class cards wich should be obvious.

Rookies should get a chance to evolve into players who could keep up with players like you if they want to. Farming like you do should not be only option to level up class cards in wave mode.
"Balanced Team" doesn't help at all if room is overflown with Blaster class, same would happen with other classes.

Must be alot of fun killing 8 year olds over and over again who can barely even walk.

I somehow missed that post from M1600wner but if you have read further posts this "class restriction" would be an option that host could enable before match so it would be up to him/her to turn it on or off.

Dont you love when people openly admit, without anyone forcing them at all, that they're abusing the kick vote system? Brilliant I say!
  • I disagree with this post. No limited class because what if a game is needed full of medics? incase of op damages.

I'll edit my first post later on and add this so there is no more confusion.
WeBeast lets say class restriction limits classes to x 2 so both teams are limited to pick up 2 x of the same class, no matter what kind of teams are 1 or 2 medics would be enough.
  • There's really no need for that, because in Wave you have to work as a team to win so class restriction will just forbid you from using your prized cards. The room might not be able to start at all if both teams keep arguing on which one should go with which cards, etc...

Also each class has their own strong and weak points, it's all about utilizing them. I have no trouble taking on a +10 Blaster guy with my +10 Juggernaut & AA-12 Xmas combo.

Yes I do understand how Wave Mode works. Also I understand that your +10 Juggernaut & AA-12 Xmas combo work pretty well against 1 Blaster guy but I'm talking about high amounts of blasters in oposite team.

Have in mind if you are playing pubs on your own there is greater chance for you to hook up with lesser skilled players or lower card classes so again you would do nothing with that Juggernaut.

I know you will tell me to get a decent team but not everyone is able to do so or even think about it, specially because of low population of "wavers" which is caused by high amounts of blaster cards in the first place.

By adding class restriction option players would have to chose their class more wisely considering what kind of team they are playing against, also there wouldn't be class exploitation by stacking one.

Room can start when there are 6 players (3 in each team) so if you want to play with specific class if its already taken go to another room or pick another class. Class restriction option would hopefully raise wave mode population so there would be more rooms to play.

All classes are viable so if class restriction limits one class to x2 in team there are still options to pick.
This way players would work on other classes too.
  • Play super soldier to get cards and then use them with stabilizers....than join in wave...it's what i also have done....
If you want to take wins then it's another thing....for this i farm on noobs xD

I said already that playing SS TD is only viable option to get cards...
  • As a previous sort of competitive Wave player all i have to say is you guys probably never played a "real" Wave game before. 2 jugg + 3 c4/rpg combo can rip all your 5 RPGs camps. The juggs can kill with a ak in about 5 secs. GL running away/camping blaster while juggs chase you and c4 rush/support and rpg support. 1 Jugg isnt that bad, but that 2nd will make your game x10 worse if you dont also have a jugg.
