Opinions on the Barrett M82A1
Hey, CrossFire Community!
The Barrett M82A1 fires .50BMG Anti-Material ammunition, which the most powerful ammunition caliber. It is the only sniper rifle that can 1-hit kill anywhere on the body with full wallbang damage. In HMX, Barrett M82A1 proves to be a valuable sniper rifle as it can score 3x damage against mutants (max 5000 damages with Headshot, min 1000 damage with leg/arm shot (Except CF NA, it has been nerfed). However, this gun is very heavy and take the longest time to cycle the bolt, making it not much more useful than regular sniper rifles in TDM/FFA match.
The Barrett M82A1 has been HEAVILY NERFED here in CF NA.
It suffers from ~
-Slower Reload Speed (compared to other versions)
-Slower Movement (compared to other versions)
-Slower Draw Speed (compared to other versions)
-Slower Firing Speed (compared to other versions)
It has HORRIBLE Damage in Mutation Modes like Hero Mode X/Hero Mode
-The AWM Deals 1600 Damage while the Barrett does 400 Damage (Head-Shot)
-The AWM Deals 800 while the Barrett does 400 (Body Shot)
-The AWM Deals 400 while the Barrett does 100 (Leg Shot)
I feel like the Barrett M82A1 Deserves a Buff in Mutation Mode Type Games.
Why?
-Rare (Black Market Item not easy to win, which wouldn't make it "overpowered")
-Slow (The Barrett M82A1 Shoots 33/100 times as fast as the AWM, yet the AWM Deals more Damage)
-Made for Mutation Modes (Barrett M82A1 was designed for these modes such as Hero Mode/Hero Mode X, so I don't see why it's so weak)
Please post Opinions Below, I just wanted to see what the community thinks about this gun and what the future of it should be.

As a player that has seen the game for not too long (I wouldn't consider two years long enough), the Barrett is a completely different experience in comparison to other snipers. If you look at some of the old sniper rifles; the Dragunov, for example, it required near impossible accuracy in order to get a one hit kill from a distance. As time went on, however, things changed. Now, the Barrett has arrived, with 100 damage anywhere on the body, regardless of distance, armor, or material separating the target and the user. Considering the high power this sniper rifle has, I feel it's only sensible to give it other slow statistics. Sure, it is a nice looking weapon with a powerful firing sound, but if you really want something that has all its corners covered, then the classic AWM would be for you. The Barrett, in my opinion, is powerful and very well rounded, but it can only be used correctly in specified scenarios.

Awm infernal 1 hit kill anywhere and full wall bang
Wrong......
Still does 80 ish with a leg
Not full wallbang. Does 40 ish on a body/arm/leg
Z8 initially said it would never be in the game.
I feel we are lucky they actually put it in.
5k damage will 1 shot a slug and berserker mutant FYI
It would 2 shot kill a maximum hp mutant.
Even a body shot would 1 hit a starter mutant at 2k hp.
Seems a Little OP.
Does need to be boosted in hmx though.
Maybe 2500 for a HS? 3k tops.
500-600 for a body/arm/leg -

I would even be happy with 2k P/HS
800-900 P/BS -
Like the other guy said, they probably won't change it unless the VIP barrett is the same way. Always, I feel the damage in enough in gm/td/snd, as long I can snipe speeders in one shot without tanking I'll be ok. A dmg boost in hmx, hero mode would nice. At least make it stronger than the m700

Barrett should have a buff in HM/HMX/MM because
-AWM has higher damage then Barrett, which is ridiculous because AWM is obtainable by GP and FP, while Barrett is ZP crates.
-In China, Barrett is very easy to obtain, you see nearly everyone running around with it. The default mutant is Dread, which has 2k HP, while in NA, the Slug is 3k HP. It would seem reasonable to buff the damage in NA because mutants have a higher advantage in NA against Barretts, and not to mention that Barrett is hard to obtain in NA. -
But we do ever get a "better version" of this gun, what will happen to the Predecessor?
Look at the Kriss Super V for example. We have plenty of versions already and they released a FP version of it making the normal kriss super v useless. I can see that people are frustrated with it but there is nothing we can about it until they release a better version. -

Exactly the point I Argue.
It's SUPER Hard to Survive a Round in HMX anymore. :P -
M82 nerf is a simple nonsence from the Z8. It is just like mates wrote, weapon is very hard to win, is heavy and takes long time to load so boost is justified. Of course nobody here says about VN or CN version, but i would propose boosting M82 damage to 800hp to the head and 200 hp to the rest of the body. For comparison AWM deals 400HP to the head and 100HP to the chest. BTW is there any chance, that Z8 will boost that weapon? I've got a feeling that they don't even check this place.

Well they did say No Barrett sniper so the way they made discourage players from using it (a win for them).
Also
Pro tip for HMX: Get a light sniper weapon type (a assault rifle with a scope), get a Kris (ZM if you don't have one) for pistol any pistol will do. the light sniper is so you can weaken Xeno at a distance when he come close you can just full auto him til he flashing and then pull out a kris and right click congrats you kill the biggest threat in the game (if you time well) if not congrats you are now a mutant enjoy the extended health. (repeat til commando/soldier win or kicked) -

From my understanding, the original Kriss Super V is better then the Red Crystal Version. -
Smilegate West staff gave it some thought since the gun was released in other versions long time ago. People requested and they had a long time to think until they've decided to nerf the cr4p out of the the gun before release. Maybe that decision was made long before we had 50 awm variations so they didn't want a serious competition.
What I believe is that this version of CF does subtle nerfing/buffing for weapons every now and then, that means they do minor buffs/nerfs without telling the community and that is discovered by the players through continuous gameplay. For example, they might temporarily buff a gun upon its release and then do "maintenance" to renerf that weapon (there is no proof just play the game and find out for yourself).
