I never was very good at pretending that everything is fine. One of the reasons why I haven't gone back to being a mod after I took a leave of absence.

There are many things wrong with Crossfire, through no fault of the team at G4Box, whose hands have been tied by the big wigs at Neowiz and Smilegate. Moderators were going to be given in-game authority, along with limited powers such as kick-immunity and instant-kick, like a GM account has, so that forum Mods were able to assist in dealing with blatant hackers. A request that was put in by the GMs long before even I became a moderator. But this still hasn't happened, because it's not being O.K.ed by head office.

Meanwhile this game is becoming more and more "pay 2 win", with the new WAVE mode system and overpowered VIP weapons, making more players resort to hacking. Not to mention that it is the same elements used in WAVE mode that is giving hackers the coding needed to make their hacks. For example: Speed hack and Aimbot use the same coding as the "Shocker" card, and no-recoil and no-spread hacks use the same coding as the "Marksman" card.

You're right. At this moment, 1 in 3 players are using hacks, and most of them don't even bother to hide it. Soccer mode is a complete waste of time, because it draws in speeding auto-knifers like moths to a flame. WAVE mode is unplayable, because 1 in 2 games is ruined by auto-aimers, and no one can report them for it, because there are no replay files.

Crossfire has been reduced to one giant hack fest, and legit players are giving up hope one by one that Support is going to do something about it that actually has an impact.

    your report system woking fine?

  • 10 000 players are tired of hackers everydays.
There's 10 thread made for it everydays.
There's 100 users like me which will say to wait everydays.

there's about 9 000 players which are being racist everyday because egyptians hack on a NA/UK Version.
The hacking Shield is updated about once every 6 month...
  • Does this mean I should not come back to CF?

No one remembers me? *crying intensifies*
  • I feel sorry for the people that were conned into sticking it out to see if it got better.

    Going as well.
Would much rather invest in something I can actually expect to not disappoint over and over again.

    But, it's:
    -not worth frustrating ourselves over,
-Unarguably not worth spending any kind of money on,
-And, at the current moment, not worth a smart player's time.

I'm seeing people stopping in more to check the status of hack prevention in the game on the forums before jumping back into any kind of ridiculousness. This is the CF "society" I'll be joining as well.

    +1 for the negative reviews.

Makes sense, WAVE mode introduces new abilities and hack makers take advantage of the new code. Also F Ceo's that prevent their employees from doing the best job they can.

  • Good suggestions Snipa. But we can suggest like this till we're blue in the face, doesn't change any countermeasures being put in for hacking. You know this, being here for a good time.

  • Their are so many issues with cf and Hackers. There are so many hack clan, some Hacking Mod's and GM's and then there's the people who master their hack to the point that it's hard to tell. Many people just use a hack to see where everyone is. They have the advantage of knowing where you are and pop around the corner to kill you or aim at the corner knowing you will be there. Then these obvious h@ks that don't even bother to hide it.

It's to the point that even if z8 pulled a magic wand out of their ass and fixed all the problems, the mentality of the players has gotten to the point that the good players will still be accused of cheating. I do believe that cfna will never be what it use to be.

I also realize, like many others, there will always be cheaters. But, if z8 and xtrap were serious about fixing this, they would (at least) update more often. If the hack developers are too busy trying to come out with the new hacks, it would be less time for the current ones to spread. Leading to less cheaters.

Or I am just nieve and blowing smoke up my own ass!

  • Let's see if I can answer some of these points for you.

Let me preface this by saying we recently updated x-trap today against the current most popular hack and it seems to be doing a good job so far.

I'm sick and tired of these hackers in this game. I'm at the point now, where I'm bout to uninstall the game and spend money on another game. This has gotten ridiculous and extremely irritating to me and my fellow players who play clean and by the books. This is what I propose to z8 as follows:
    1. Change the hack detector programs you are using now with something that will actually work.
X-Trap does work, but with the nature of the program it's never going to be "instant". It's always going to be a push-pull thing. We update against hacks, and then new hacks come out. We're contracted with X-Trap for the time being, so at the moment this can't change. We need to continue to do the best job with what we have. And that's what we're doing.
    2. Hire more people that actually play in the games in crossfire and have them take a look at how bad it is. Then, you can start tally marking how many ahmed's and their brother's Mohameds are running around using hacks in the game.
We're not going to comment on the judgmental view of this. However I do want to address the point of staff. As many of you have seen, we have increased the number of staff. Ticket times have been reduced to 12-24 hour response time (way down from 72+ a short while ago).

In addition, we have instituted programs with our new staff members such that they are always playing the game. We have someone in game almost 24 hours a day playing and kicking hackers. It's a big game, with a lot of people. Unfortunately there is never going to be a staff member in every game. But we're doing our best and you all have seen the results here. Greater interactivity, more gm events, and more players kicked and banned from the game in a live environment.
    3. We understand that you can't exactly get rid of all the hacks in the game, and we aren't worried about that. We as in the players of Crossfire, want to see something trying to be done about this. This is why people are quitting and others talking junk on forums.
There is nothing wrong with voicing your opinion. We read everything here whether or not we respond to it all.

We ask that people be respectful and constructive and on those times hopefully we have the time to also craft respectful and constructive responses.
    4. Figure out a way to start banning their IP-addresses from the game or something very similar to that. If they hack, give them a warning and briefly state, next time, they will no longer be allowed on the game. No matter how many different characters they want to make.
Despite it not looking so, we have increased the # of IP's that we ban. And we have also looked in to some of our tracking systems which track the creation of new accounts to curb this behavior too.

With the nature of the Free to Play game, it's hard to fully limit account creation, but we are looking for the best ways possible so that endless hacking alternate accounts aren't being made.

We recognize this is an issue with our fight in anti-hacking. It's just not an easy problem to solve.
    5. Fix old content before trying to add more content to reduce the bugs in the game.

This unfortunately is something we've been working on but has seemed to have taken 2 steps back in the most recent updates.

The zombie mode and Wave Mode bugs which have shown up (since about when wave mode started) have been very difficult for us to track, reproduce and fix.

For example, a patch is given to us for testing (coded by Smilegate, the developers of the game). In testing we see that it has no bugs. But then we update to live and somewhere along the line it created something which blew apart some specific zombie mode map which we never saw in testing.

Another example is when a patch fixes a bug in testing, but for some reason the bug doesn't correct itself in the live environment.

We don't mean for this stuff to happen, when we release patch notes we're doing so based on our QA (testing) version of the latest updates. And we want to convey that we're continuing to improve on bugs, so we list bug fixes. But recently we've seen some resets on old bugs that have shown up again.

I can say that we have updated X-Trap today, and that tonight we should be seeing a game update to fix some of the important bugs. Again they are fixed on our test servers, we can only hope that everything goes smoothly.

Look for an announcement from Juicebox later with regards to the update tonight. Hopefully by fixing some of those and an X-Trap patch we can hvae some fun this weekend in some awesome World Cup related soccer events and continue to enjoy our time in CrossFire!
I understand that you all are working on getting this situation fixed, I don't know how progress is looking... but do you need help? I would be more than happy to go from room to room and write down every hackers name or something if that makes it easier for you. I'm just tired of having a good game go to complete crap because a worthless failure of a piece of sh** wants to hack. Or just simply give me the power to ban the hackers and the world would be a better place with rainbows and stuff or however you picture it.
Your patience and desire to help is most definitely appreciated. We are looking at all ways to involve the positive members of our community more within the game, whether it's finding ways to get legitimate hack reports, or kicking or something. Things have to be done on a fair and safe format for the game and community, but we're always keeping our eyes open for fresh ideas on how to make everyone happier.
I've had enough. I'm also trying to get the point across without having to use the Simpsons pictures for reference...
    Thank you for that.
  • I still like the fact Saidin voices himself on the state of the game. It is a great feeling from someone who can say he was here once before and came back sees the same well working person doing what he does best. Giving information.

So, There is a patch tonight? Ill probably play a bit. Since there is going to a fresh game at least for a week xD.

    Thanks,

And yes. The update tonight should fix some of the issues with the new Soccer Mode, and the zombie mode bugs the latest update seemed to have caused.

I want to be cautious because the last couple of updates have been shaky for bugs. We've not seen them in our testing environment. So we hope they will be fixed.

this sounds unique, but one question, how often did you write a comment like this ? Many times. How often was the game "playable" ?
I will go ahead and solve the problem. I will ask Obama to bomb egypt... maybe he will listen to me *ironic off*
  • We'll see! For some reason I doubt it last more then a day or 2, "IF" it works at all!
  • Well I don't see any change with the hackers there are still a lot of hackers ingame right now. I just played for a hour and counted 12 different hackers all of the high pings and ahmed in there name. I thought since x-trap updated it would be less but I got my hopes up to much.

QuietSnipa, I recall playing quite a bit with in GM. Casual, decent, good natured person to play along side of.
Another dedicated vet turning in the guns if you should happen to depart from CF. :-/
..could join the cf-lurking-crew, for lack of a better moniker. Those of us that check in once in a while on high hopes that the game will turn(and stay turned) one of these times.
I held on to hoping that, after one of these patches the timeframe would be extensive where there'd be no hacking. (Regrettably)

Ended up frustrating myself. So the stress free alternative was to leave. It's tough to make a humble 'shove it' thread and just get mocked, as I've witnessed so many do. So I chose to rogue it.
Unfortunately, it's sad that some are forced to resort to these alternatives.
I, for one, enjoy creating visual art modifications for the crafty players. I just withdrew some motivation in doing such, as well as a few others.(probably observed)

The game, ultimately, oozes of potential to be a consistently enjoyed experience.
Although I quieted myself as far as community involvement/promoting/events for a good deal of time, I still keep 4 virtual fingers crossed for CrossFire NA.
