Keeps kicking me out after about 5 minutes?

It keeps kicking me out of Crossfire after around 5 minutes saying I have an illegal program or something conflicting with it? Idk what it is though, I have Microsoft Security so that isn't it. Does skype inflict with the game?

Comments

  • My friend is experiencing the exact same problem. He has Microsoft Security and I went on team viewer with him and uninstalled it in hopes that it would solve the problem, but it didn't.

I'm really interested in what others have for solutions on their fingertips, because I'd really like to play with my friend. :/
  • It would help if you could tell us your

    OS
    PC Specs
    Running programs
    The error message

    :) Thanks!

    Windows Vista
Not sure, but it's definitely an older computer (runs CF at ~40 FPS)
None (slow computer, turned everything off)
    Hack Tool Detected

    This is my friends computer.
  • If you have an antivirus either disable it or add Crossfire to it's exception list, if you have ''Game Booster'' as well, disable it.

"None" isn't really an answer, I can guarantee at least 10 running processes.

Have him take a screenshot of the task manager when running Crossfire.
    Some things are easily overlooked.

    This goes for op-Josh too.
  • Why do all MODS think they know everything >?

I'm not sure what you're trying to say.
If it relates to this particular issue, please try again.
If not, type it in notepad and spare the rest of us a cluttered forum.

I use MSE on all of my systems and don't have a problem with it stopping anything crossfire related with it's default options. I opt out of the MAPS and the stuff that monitors and reports what you're doing in the settings though. I wouldn't think MAPS has anything to do with it. Might be worth a try to turn it off.

MSE is on all of these that I use. Win XP SP3, Win 7, and Defender on Win 8 in my laptop.

You could double check the firewall and make sure there are exceptions in it for the crossfire executables.

I had reinstalled crossfire on one of the machines one time, don't remember which one now, and had connection issues with it until it dawned on me that I had pushed the button that said ask later when windows firewall asked to add an exception the first time after running crossfire and it never asked again lol.

    Edit:
Heavy downloading will cause that error message about hack tool being detected if it is saturating your connection. I will get that sometimes if I forget to slow down the net usage in the system that I use to download torrents with.

No, I was the one that was looking at the task manager. The only things I allowed to run were system applications, I closed absolutely everything else.

Perhaps it's something you closed then?

Drivers not running properly might cause the game to do something it shouldn't > Software conflict.

I don't know really, this stuff is all trial and error.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. The problem has been ongoing for three straight years, I don't believe it's something I closed, because it would have re-opened, or whatever the anonymous program does.

There should be a definite solution to this problem, because others are experiencing it, and it's the same problem caused by something every time. However this solution isn't as easy as others to obtain. - -

Yeah, data collection is what we need, but as you can see from my thread it's not easy getting people to take 60 seconds to fill out a form.

I can with some confidence say that if my hack report data collection thread had as many replies as views, the issue would be resolved.

So it's up to someone to randomly stumble over the solution (to this specific issue), explaining it to someone like me, and we can more officially declare it solved and let people know.
  • Now wouldn't that be lovely? Someone out there must know the solution, I guess all I (we) can do is wait.
  • Bump. Still occuring.

He's now able to play at least a match, or a match and a half, then he gets the error.
  • Nevermind, its at 5 minutes now. I'm his friend playing on an alt.

Restart your pc, Scan your whole computer for virus/trojans, Delete them clean you registry delete all items you never use,, search for any illegal programs for any game delete all of them, Make sure you dont run any other programm when you playing crossfire,

ADD crossfire to your Firefall :)
