Only moderators and GMs (and a couple of others who supposedly were allowed them) can have GIFs as avatars.

Because you aren't a moderator/GM, and probably not special enough!

hm, gif isn't the only ext. which makes things move. when i have time i'm going to try to upload a changing picture. Just a simple one.

Yea, just keep it within file size like nonnen said and you should be fine, although I think GIF avatars are a little "over doing it" lol. Transparent ones seem cool enough for me ♦

It's not that they're special, animated avatars, just as image signatures, are meant for only moderators and administrators, however due to a simple bypass others exploit they are able to use them. While we haven't taken action against it, should it ever get out of hand/too many people do it, just as people using fake image signatures was, it will be dealt with accordingly.
