I like Apple' creativity.
Macbook Pro is what I recommend. Only the Pro is good for design and art.
But you have to buy windows separately to use on Mac Pro, it cost 200 dollars.
CF can only run on windows.
I have a PC to play CF. The notebook would only be for university work and web-browsing mainly. -

Toshiba's got some nice models out there so has HP
I personally like the Satellite Models over at toshiba...

and i found this sort of simple looking Hp http://shopping2.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/products/Laptops/HP-ENVY/A9G89AV?HP-ENVY-Sleekbook-4t-1000
I don't like Macs -

the only, only, only
laptop that is good enough in terms of quality is the
Lenovo
that are used on Space stations by astronauts.

- You could install Bootcamp and play CrossFire in it, that's what my friend did with his 15" MacBook Pro and it gives him around 70 stable FPS
- I agree with you, Apples' design is awesome, simplicity at its best
- Hatters gonna hate

I have a Macbook Pro 15 inch released last November.
I would think next November, or around then. I'm getting another Macbook Pro [I'm am Apple freak, haters will hate, my parents have the money to get me it, so I'll take it any day].
There are a lot of rumours about a new Macbook Pro being announced at the Apple WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference) some time in mid June. I'll probably wait it out until then before I decide what to buy. -
Stop wasting your money......
And get a real laptop the specs on Macbooks/Ultrabooks are pathetic imo.
Wanna bet your programs/rending/editing etc will be way faster on a normal laptop.
I bet like most people your gone say it's to heavy looks ugly etc etc etc
Who cares if it's a heavier than a thin Air or Ultra you will have it on a table/lap most of the time anyway and you must be a skinny weak person to not able to carry a normal laptop around.
Also the appearance is no excuse there are enough great looking laptops out there these days.
DESIGN DESIGN DESIGN ahhh shut up all apple products look the same the wouldn't know creativity if it hit them in the face!
You got the chance to save money + work better/faster but no you rather have something overpriced and slower.
Stupid fanboys, -
fan boys? the only laptops that match in quality are lenovo from my experience, who wants to lug around a piece of plastic sh1t like most windows laptops, i rather pay for the looks with a laptop because what the hell is the point of gaming on a laptop? the unibody is a great idea and there is no reason other companies shouldn't use something similar to it, and any type of rendering can be done on a macbook pro, and don't bash the design because it is simple, it is also durable, having a metal lid and a plastic bottom just kills me, like what the hell were you thinking for you to do that, these companies are so cheap and should go to hell, just make the entire laptop metal. don't get me started with batteries either..
also not to mention, get a job you poor ****s. -

Stupid fanboys,
Oh wow. I've used Macs before and I've grown accustomed to their OSX. Of course, it might not be as flexible as Windows 7, but I have a gaming PC specifically for that. I don't need super high specifications for my laptop. I need a good looking, light laptop suited for university work and browsing. The Macbook Pro offers me that, and them some. It might not be the cheapest laptop in the world, but if I want to spend my hard earned money on a Mac, I'll do it.fan boys? the only laptops that match in quality are lenovo from my experience, who wants to lug around a piece of plastic sh1t like most windows laptops, i rather pay for the looks with a laptop because what the hell is the point of gaming on a laptop? the unibody is a great idea and there is no reason other companies shouldn't use something similar to it, and any type of rendering can be done on a macbook pro, and don't bash the design because it is simple, it is also durable, having a metal lid and a plastic bottom just kills me, like what the hell were you thinking for you to do that, these companies are so cheap and should go to hell, just make the entire laptop metal. don't get me started with batteries either..

Yeah that's true, the Macbook Pro is one of the most durable laptops on the market due to its unique unibody design.
Battery life is really important too. Most laptops seem to offer 4 hours max. Macbooks offer up to 7 hours. -

Tell me, how you will replace ur battery if the are damaged?
Oh ya it can happen even to your macbook it's just hardware.
Who needs to spend 50 dollars on new batteries when you can buy a new laptop again right?
-
You can render on a mac you don't say.
The point is better specs help better rendering speed on any type of rendering smart ass.
btw I like how you keep saying normal laptops are nothing more than plastic ****
Maybe you should stop reading those macrumor forums thread and actually look at different laptops out there.
VAIO/Asus/HP even freaking Dell these days is making better more durable sh!t than a
Macbook
Ya Macbooks/Ultrabooks got 2x the battery span but ofc why is that?
Oh ya the specs are so ****ty that is why.
You can have your 4 hours extra battery you will need it to render.
P.s
Funny, I got college/intern job/part time job so tell me again I need to find a job.
There is a difference in spending money good and spending money like a m***n
Anyway whatever fanboy keep on buying that trash ur the typical consumer apple just loves. -

enjoy your 2/3 hour battery life with most windows laptops unless you want to carry around an 8 cell battery, but that defeats the purpose of a laptop, also something called apple care which does not involve speaking to an indian that doesn't speak english which is usually the case with most computer companies when you contact their support. you don't even need to replace batteries, i've had mine since 2007? i believe and still holds a 4-5 hour charge, longer than most windows computers out of the box...just facedesk..
i've used more higher grade windows laptops than you could even afford, i work at an engineering firm ffs...they're good spec wise, but aesthetics and durability lacks, and these are laptops that cost 1200+, some even in the 3000 range, battery life blows as well.
you're just posting mindless sh1t, saying sony/asus/dell are better quality, go to their websites and read reviews by people who actually purchased the laptops, you will laugh and read "this thing broke into a 1000 pieces after it fell off my 2 foot table onto to a pillow, also the battery life is 2 hours while the screen is off, oh not to mention the countless bsod and terrible indian support."
I've had my share of laptops, i still use windows because i do accounting and they don't offer numeric keypads on their laptops, and who cares about rendering not every person renders that uses a laptop, it's a no brainer that windows will be better for rendering, but what the hell are you going to do with 1-2 hours of battery life while rendering, WAIT you can plug your charger into the wall outlet, OH WAIT why don't you use a ****ing desktop if you are going to do that, laptops were never meant to be desktop replacements, they try to make them like that but it defeats the purpose, the max use you can get out of a laptop that is categorized as a desktop replacement is 1-2 hours, there is simply no point...
Apple wins
-Durability
-Aesthetics
-Battery life
-Quality
most people just word process or surf the web and if you have the money why don't you just buy something that won't break into 1000 pieces, that will last 7 hours instead of 3-4
Also apple hires much more american people when comparing the competitors in the industry, yes they're all made in Asia, but at least they make an effort to give jobs to americans. -

I'm sorry, i'm just trying to have a debate but it seems impossible without a flame war, people just get so butt hurt even when just putting up a good argument, just shows the maturity of this "college" student who can't keep it on topic. -

Really.....I'm a IT student.
I worked at 5 different IT shops were the sell/repair.
atm I work at a fashion design company with there own servers that I actually work on(If I get permission of the IT manager ofc I'm a intern hehe)
So really don't bother about bragging what kind of PC's/Laptops u had in your hand am pretty sure I have more experience than you in ever will get mr I work at a engineering companyApple wins

Ya that is why even a Lenovo IdeaPad U300S beats it.
In battery/Quality/Durability and really don't start about aesthetics Macbook look the same since 2008!
I would rather get a Ultrabook than a Macbook if I had to.
But screw both normal laptops are better specs are better the laptop is more reliable.
Lenovo IdeaPad Y480 such a example basically on the go desktop for all your needs and not just word/surf the web and still cost cheaper than a Macbook haha
Even if you replace the HDD with a SSD it will still be cheaper.
Also, Apple care ya.... you buy it for 3 years never use it.
Till you actually needed it it's not valid or it doesn't count for the problem you got.
Go to your local IT shop pay 50 bucks and the will have it fixed the other day.
Please carry one telling me how you imagen Apple products are but in reality aren't. -

yay
people are too dumb to realize they are two different types of animals, you can't compare the two, they have different applications, but for the sake of general use, which is the majority of use of laptops, a macbook will win, and for the sake of the thread
