How do people manage to get their accounts hacked?
How do people hack into accounts? The only way to "hack" into someones account is to ask him for the data, right?
I see many people on cf that say that their account got hacked. When I ask them how they got their accounts hacked they just say that someone hacked into their computer and steal their data.
I just want to make clear that asking for someones data is the only way to steal a account. Or maybe some kind of a key logger... But in both cases it is the account holders fault.

This thread is like a rhetorical question... you made an argument, then answered yourself.
But what you stated is true, you must give out your information in order to get your account stolen. Whether it's your email password, or your Crossfire password. Otherwise it could have been a phisher, or a download that held a keylogger in it (doesn't happen much anymore). -
People don't know what the hell "hacked" means these days. example: facebook people leave their facebook open and their friend posts on their wall "lol hacked!"
It is just stupid people giving away their info or using their account info on cheat sites because they are dumb. -
They get trojans or, backdoors...so for starters you need to have a good AV updated and a firewall, to be safe.'Chaos wrote:Oh;2970291']Yes ultimately it will be the persons fault if they get their account hacked.
Would take a LOT of effort to actually hack the servers and get the log in details.
While watching a cf video on youtube, I saw some comments mentioning a tema working on hacking the servers. They're apparently the ones who succeeding in disconnecting you from games. -

If you hadn't noticed you can type anything you want on Youtube. -
All true but you forgot one. Someone could just guess your pass. Could happen? But my guess is most give there info out. Try and download hacks. Or download a keylogger with a hack program.
Impossible. They would first have to "guess" your username and then type something in your password, and there would be literally a 1/100000000000 chance they could get both your username and your password right. -

One thing is the password, how does he know your id, your email and security question to change the password? Like people have said before, it's the account owners fault in every single way possible. -

Impossible you say? Say your login name Frank, same as game IGN Frank. Now frank is a dumb guy. he puts Frank as his password. What ya think, Impossible? Anything is possible. -

Please enter 6-12 alphanumeric characters.
This is what it would say if his PW was "Frank".
If you were seriously that stupid to name your IGN, username, and password the exact same thing, then you deserve to be hacked. -
I wonder why people don't get skeptical or suspicious when the guy asks them for their password, account name and the answer to the secret questions.
Why would that guy need those information to send you free ZP?
Well okay he could say that he needs the password and name so he can log in and buy that stuff, but why would he need the answer to the secret question?
And why would someone just give you free ZP anyway? -
I got mine stolen.
I did'nt download anything at all, infact cf was the only thing on my comp since I just re-installed windows.
What happened to me was I spammed with the same email over and over then I got an email from z8games with my info so im guessing they got my email and password somehow(I can only think of it being on my z8 profile) and seconds later I got another email saying my pw and email adress had been changed
There was no other way anyone could of got my email other than my guess of it being on my profile since I never tell it anyone online who I don't know.
But its all ok now I got it back within 3 days and I changed my email for my account and all they did was buy a 3rd bag.

That might of have been an attack by "Email spoofing" and you thought that the "Z8Games" site was the official one when it wasn't... -

By the way, a AV don't recognizes all the hacks.
Its easy to download stuff from CF related sites, untrustworthy sites. Or something someone gives you, tricking you. -
Things needed to take over someone's account:
1. Account name (Not the IGN).
2. Account password.
3. Registered Email.
4. Emails password.
5. Security Question answer (Optional).
Ways for others to get this info:
1. Keyloggers. They are hidden with downloads of things, but the only ones interested in CF accounts would be downloads related to CF (Hacks and other programs).
2. Sharing the account. Even if you share it with someone you trust, the info is no longer secure because it is known to more then you. The person that you shared it with could download hacks with keyloggers or share it with someone else as well.
3. Traded it away. In this case they are trading the account away and are now trying to get it back. In other words they are actively scamming people. Plus account trading is against the rules.
4. Used a fake email that happened to belong to someone else. If one used a email someone else controls then they have the ability to take the account away at any time.
The email used has the account name, password, and the ability to change the pass and email at anytime.
All 4 methods require the person that lost it to be idiotic.
One doesn't lose a account to someone else with out doing something. -

You forgot something....
Somehow my e-mail was hacked and I had a recent lost id/pw email.
I got the acc. back and I still don't know how my e-mail was broken. -
As stated many times, if accounts were easy to hack, surely the GM's accounts would be the first ones to get hacked...?
but they all know the basics of internet security --> Don't download files you aren't sure about, Don't give out any personal data//information, Do not share passwords etc with anyone, and don't share accounts. -

No the emails I got spammed with wasn't from Z8Games they were from someone else(which i didnt even open) then I got an email from Z8Games with my info and then my email account password got changed and so did my CF account password but I managed to get my email account back quickly and sort everything out.

A IP is not a pass to your computer. Even if you have someones IP you cannot use it to access his computer. You computer denies any access unless you let em pass. And you cannot just look up someones IP. -
They get hacked because they are dumb, gullible or careless, maybe even all three.
Not getting "hacked" is simple.
The only person who should know your login information is = YOU
The only place to login is:- Z8games.com
- CF game Client
- Play legit
Don't share your information with your friends, cousins or relatives even your mom.
That's how you never get "hacked".
