The great ping discovery!

So I've always played Alpha Server with about 68 ping. I always thought that was the best server I could play on, ping-wise. I then decided to check all the servers, and see what my ping was. They were all about 130+, but then when I went to US West Server, my ping was 44! Looks like I've found my new home town! (I've been playing in Alpha for about three years)

Ever found any discoveries like this?

Yea I realized that too, but it was 5 months after I started to play.

where do you live at?

alpha server is in toronto(i believe)
and us west is in california

i live in illinois, so im in between both of them. but more twords toronto. 68 in toronto and 110 in us west.

I love West Coast, except for the lack of players.

A lot of them seem to be Aussies, and because of that it seems more active when most of the U.S. is sleeping or somewhere at night.

Still I only play in West Coast, except for the occasions I go to Alpha when there are no good games on West.

OffTopic:my biggest discover was when i found Ghost leader of BL. i felt like i found E.T

Yeah, I'll see you guys there too. I mostly play Eagle Eye S&D, or Downtown S&D. From the odd times I'll play GM, but not too often, not as often as I used to.

That's good, I enjoy playing with mainly my own language. It gets annoying when team communication cannot be made because of the various cultures in Alpha.

When I started the game I was playing always on alpha server (with about 120 ping), but after about a half year I went to see if uk servers are better for me and guess what happened? My ping was 48-60 ^^

With McAfee security centre

US servers = 300+ ping
UK servers = sometimes 200+ ping (after reconnect 30 ping)

Without McAfee security centre

US servers = 140'ish ping

UK servers = 30 ping

Sometimes I have 120 Ping on the UK Servers when the servers are instable (obviously only for me, because on CSS I have normal 40 Ping) and then I went to UK 2 , and voilâ, my ping was 42 again. I jumped and shouted "hooooraaaay!!".

I don't get it. Since you are from Canada, how can you have 130+ ping on US servers? I have 120-130 ping in US servers, and I'm from Romania.... that's..odd...

Alpha typically gives me 25~30
Bravo typically gives me 30~50
South typically gives me 30~50
UK typically gives me 100 ~ 120
My ping only changes during patches ;{

I'm not too sure, all I know is I average at about 68 ping on Alpha Server and about 43 ping on US West. I live in Canada, BC. California isn't all that far away compared to Toronto, which is a couple days driving distance.

Well, I get 48 or something ping in Alpha and around 28 or something in Bravo. So I prefer to play in Bravo whenever possible.

for canadian US West is a better server then Alpha? I have 20-40 of ping in Alpha.. Nerver tried US West.

If you live in the western part of Canada, then yes. But if you live on the east, near Toronto, you should play in Alpha, Bravo, etc.
