Are you using a laptop? I use laptop and its like that when I play

Are you using vegas to edit the video if you edited anything at all?

It's really easy on vegas.

If you do it on Sony Vegas it will ruin the quality if you like resize it, but when I tested something out, I recorded best graphics on Fraps, then made a small test video that was 5 minutes, was pure HD took 4 hours to upload. Can go up to 1080P HD :P
Sam graphics with Fraps no edit with Sony Vegas® gave me 720P

The quality is barely touched.

It still looks way better without the black bars.

I tested a video I did like a hour ago, 720P HD full screen. Don't you just like that? No black bars in HD!

I just got Vegas so I'll try to find a way to remove the sidebars.. Freaking annoying..

Ill tell you how, it's really easy xD

When you get vegas, you will have a video track/audio track section on the bottom:

Right click on the video track>switches>un-check maintain aspect ratio

Then the video in the preview should look like this:
