Vista Home Basic to XP Professional-Good or bad idea?
I currently have Vista Home Basic and was wondering if it would be worth it to downgrade or should I upgrade?
These are my PC Specs:

I've heard XP has better performance than Vista, so I want to know if it's worth it.
Also, if someone knows where to "buy" it and how to install it, I would appreciate the help.

7 is better than XP in the sense that it is updated and more aesthetic visually.
I don't care much for looks.
I use windows classic theme(for performance) and I like it more.
So how much will performance be affected with proper settings?oh my lord baller
compaq presario? I had this computer when I was 8, can pretty much verify it is as the worst computer I've ever used.
dont even downgrade, get a new fking computer

depends on your memory card. If your memory card suck. Then more updates wont do anything. It will just ruin your computer by making it slow. -
I would downgrade to Windows XP.
Windows 7 requires a minimum of 1 Gb RAM to run decently, after you install a couple of programs you will notice that the PC will go run slower little by little.
But as Tasty said, you can unable some services so it can run faster, but with XP it runs fast right off the bat. -
Ok, I think I will be getting XP since I have heard good things about it, and I don't want to risk my PC not being able to handle 7.
If anyone is EXPERIENCED with "buying" and installing Operating Systems, please Private Message me.
I will be needing help. -

So will disabling programs and changing theme to classic match the performance of XP? -
