  • wow those forums are pretty dead.

Seriously, what do you want us to say? What can Z8games even do against this!
  • educate more people will be good enough.
they only thing that can stop SOPA is the people's voice.
  • U.S. law doesn't extend past its borders.
  • This may be related to Z8Games, but it isn't related to Crossfire. This forum isn't dead, you posted in the wrong section.

Also, support of this bill is more of a concern from large corporations and companies that have a lot of media control, like Sony, Activision, and GoDaddy.

Practically everyone is against this bill. The fact that it has made it this far is disgraceful, but honestly, not everyone with money to make on the internet is obligated to make a statement on their views on the matter.

Global media is basically controlled by corporations in the United States, so it affects everyone.

    ...Z8game is situated on U.S...

people like you need to be educated about those laws SOPA/PIPA.

    EDIT : ninja'ed!!!!!

You REALLY NEED to research what SOPA will do, yes it will even affect you on Canada/Siberia/Antartica w/e country.

see I just learned where the servers are.
and i cited you as just a example of how some people doesn't have any
idea how this law(if pass) will afect them.

they do have servers on U.S, dont they?O.o

They do, but I still don't see how Z8 games can affect the law...
  • this won't affect g4box in any way, not sure how it relates to this forum.

like i said, they only need explain what this law will do if it pass.
because it will affect online games whose host server is situated on the U.S.
anyway only 1 people who posted here doesn't know what SOPA is so...

    care to explain?
  • easy to toss on a tin foil hat and cry 1984, but in reality few things will change.
sites who make a business out of offering unlicensed music need to be and deserves to get shut down anyway, no biggie.
sites who do it legitimately have solid contracts with the music industry

"people post a link to a song in-game and z8games gets blocked" isn't going to happen.
First, theres no way to monitor that, chat happens in realtime.
Second, any block is going to be easily circumvented.
Third, no ISP who wants to stay in business is going to issue blocks willy-nilly, they're going to cry their eyes out and spend every dime they have first.
Fourth, the US is a development country.
The rest of the world doesn't care about your silly laws.
    You are not a superpower.
Fifth, any company who wants to keep doing what they do which would be illegal under SOPA, would just register in a decent non-fascist country.

of course, first, it needs to pass which it won't.

I'm sorry, but are you honestly requesting for people to become more educated about this bill, when you can't even explain in proper English?

z8Games doesn't need to explain a thing. It's been explained by both acting parties, and opinionated 3rd parties, and it's all online. There is no point.

Saying "YOUR silly laws" and "YOU are not a superpower" seems a bit too directive to be impersonal.

And saying the United States is "fascist", true or not, is a bit emotional, especially on such a stupid topic, don't you think?

It's done, anyway. It don't mattah.

Well that was against America, not americans. I do that. Faster to type.
    Just assumed he was american.

I think its a pretty accurate description, although I should probably save the "america is fascist" discussion for a later date (and better thread). :>

No problem, i just quoted you before you edit your post.

and you have James Spader as your avatar... and its a pic taken

I will admit, I could have made a better work on my first post.
  • I speak for myself, and only myself.

SOPA is a menace to everyone, not only Americans but can change a variety of things. It is allowing the various media groups to take down websites that have the POTENTIAL to copyright infringe, not even if they are infringing. You could be seeing the censorship or removal of social media, forums anywhere that will give you a voice to share things.

Over last few years we haven't had any big inventions other than the internet, many of these new social media sites are lowering costs of marketing and distribution so that many start up projects can be found and shared for virtually nothing. Which is why so many indie developers and products are successful in this age.

In whole, if the media doesn't like what you're sharing they can remove it. This will also limit the future of internet business or projects as no one would want to invest in companies without huge returns thus hindering the growth of possible revolutionary tools or websites in the future.

I myself have moved my own personal domain out of GoDaddy due to their recent shenans with support SOPA.

The chances are that something as drastic as shutting down Facebook or Youtube is slim, but if you give a corporation this much power the chances they will abuse it in some shape, way or form is highly probable. Regardless this is MORE censorship.

Now these are just some examples of how SOPA will hinder the internet, if you search around and do some research you will find other reasons. I'm not going to try to force an opinion or anything on you guys but I urge you to research this yourself and create your own informed opinion to share with others.

TL;DR Internet censorship is bad, it will hurt the internet and probably the sites you visit frequently.

Oh, the groups themselves would be given the power to take sites down?
Thought it was just the same old "send angry letter to ISPs" deal.

Guess I'll have to read up on it.

    Thanks for your input!!.

and i agree with all you posted.
sure domain like youtube, facebook etc... can "just" move their business to another
country, but what about the people who work for them on the U.S?
the fan arts that we see all around the internet can just disapear.
yes we all are against piracy, but to shutdown someone's site just because
he posted a video with a music that isn't his own, isn't right either.

edit: and for what I understand( can be 100% wrong tho), i dont even need be the guy who uploaded
the illegal content on my website to it infrige the law if SOPA/PIPA pass,if anyone post it there
    they could shutdown my website.
