Virus from survey download

I downloaded about four applications from the surveys, and one of them apparently contained the RelevantKnowledge virus. I am in the process of cleaning it now, and while this is not the major issue, I have yet to receive any points for 3 of the 4 downloads (no, I don't know exactly which have paid me and which have not, as you provide me with no tools to discover this.) I am quite upset that Z8 Games would promote the distribution of Spyware to its customers. While your Thanksgiving offers had me interested in purchasing Z8 points, at this point I am quite concerned about trusting you with my credit card information when you affiliate yourselves with companies that distribute viruses. I understand that you are not directly behind it, but you are judged by the people you associate with, and this certainly does not speak well to your security and credibility

  • Yep, Z8 lies when they say that there's no virus's in the surveys. You've learned your lesson.
  • They are not promoting any type of distribution of Spyware. You clearly agree to the following:

Attention Players! Survey providers are not affiliated with Z8games. Z8games has no control over any of their pricing structures or methods of payment including but not limited to SMS payments or the divulging of private information that some of these sites may require.

The survey providers are not affiliated with Z8Games. In no way are they scheming to give everybody viruses. To take up action to redeem ZP, you should contact the survey provider, there is a survey option in Support, but they cannot just give you ZP, they need to receive payment from the survey provider first.

You clearly know that you are downloading the program, surveys are not put in by Z8Games, they are merely a plugin in which Z8Games puts on their website. Surveys are accepted and put in by the provider. Now, Z8Games cannot manage and monitor every single survey that you or any other people happen to do, therefore that is up to the player. Try to avoid download-surveys.
  • z8 is unaffiliated with the surveys... they provide the sponsor survey company, they are responsible.

    ^ beat me to it
  • your fault for downloading crap.
I just make a new instance of windows then dl alot of them.
  • Same happend to me on my old pc, it cant even run cf anymore just dc's every time it runs....

but meh it has like 300+ viruses on it last time i checked lawl :p
  • I understand

I'm fully aware that Z8 isn't behind the surveys, and I clearly indicated that. I was simply saying that it shows they don't bother to check up on the people they affiliate with. I run an e-commerce store, and I know that the way to accept credit cards is through a fulfillment company. This is obviously an issue, as they have just demonstrated that the companies they are affiliated with are not to be trusted. The fact of the matter is, I was directed to the download from a Z8 page, and that means that they are endorsing the content I acessed, disclaimer or not.

Also, for those interested, I believe the virus file came from either TheFreeYouTubeDownloader, EasyWebExplorer, or TrafficSpace but I cannot be sure.

At first I tried removing it manually, but it re-installed itself, so I used a removal tool.
The removal tool used was MalwareBytes and it cleaned it up rather easily.

True but Z8 are responsible for being an affiliate to a scheme that they know gives out spyware.

I for example had no control over Clicksor ads that I was running on my own website but after I became aware that many of my visitors were getting Spyware and viruses I had no option but to discontinue Clicksor.

I could of just said "well I'm unaffiliated with the ads take it up with Clicksor".
  • I actually made an article on this and felt the same as you. Despite the content issued by the provider, before use of such affliation, you have to achknowlege that z8 doesn't account for such content. Athough i find it strange they sponsor content that distribute content that may be harmful to there community.
  • Just anoter reason why I don't do the free zp option.

Surveys can give unwanted ads to your email. Downloading and "testing" applications can give malware or viruses.

And people in black suits come to kidnap you. (jk)

    You're so cruel lmao
  • Lol this is why I don't do that much surveys. I do the ones that I know work and I don't need to provide phone #'s or download software. And use a junk mail for CF items.
  • Nine times out of ten, it's adware.

Easily dealt with, and not harmful, don't worry about it.
  • Update

Media Player Lite from Token Ads is also infected with spyware, removing now

    Don't forget phone numbers.
  • I quit earning free zp, I find how survey waste my time.

It is quite possible z8 is not aware of this situation. Contact me via PM's with a list of the ones you did.
  • Surveys are full of Spyware, Malware, and others things you dont want to know about. Everyone knows this. Do you really think youre going to get anything for free? This is how these Companys make money, [sell your info] Dont like it? Dont do surveys. Easy

I have that application too about a weeks ago,it has no uninstall option and the files are difficult to find, but if I'm not wrong as I recall, the folder name is "netratingsnetsight"..I already deleted it.but I'm not sure if my computer still have that virus
  • and thats why i dont download anything from the free zp offers... I tested a few a long while back and all had some form of ad/spyware, dunno if i just chose the wrong ones but that put me off from bothering with any of the otehrs.
  • Here's a hint: Do surveys that don't require downloads..
  • z8 mods

I made a support ticket about it, they just replied with:

Z8 is not responsible for the material contained in the surveys.

I understand that they have to make money, but they have to decide whether they want to be a reputable, respected company or a malicious adware-promoting one The product they offer is far from unique, there are no less then 3 other companies offering almost identical games. The only thing they have to differentiate themselves is their reputation.
  • Do Surveys
    Win a million ZP
    ????
    Obligatory profit.
  • Here's a tip for everyone out there. There's a program called deepfreeze, basically this program deletes everything you downloaded off your computer in a session that you specify. For example, I'll start doing surveys now. I ran Deepfreeze and started downloading virus-containing files. After I'm done. I Close Deepfreeze, and it deletes everything that I have downloaded and leaves my computer unharmed.

It is one cheap way for a company to make money, to allow 3rd party companies to advertise via surveys and downloads. Z8Games is NOT AFFILIATED with them. They give fair warning that there could be a possibility that you can get malware, adware, or even a virus from partaking in free ZP surveys and downloads.

Now it was YOUR choice to continue onwards and complete the surveys, KNOWING the risk. In legalish terms, Z8 cannot be held liable in such a case.

Reputation... lol. Please tell me that you aren't saying what you are trying to say... because you can't really make that kind of a statement without knowing the facts before. Now giving and OPINION is what a reputation can either rise or fall. YOUR opinion, I have to disagree, due to the reason I listed above about continuation with risk.
