Revenue from Crossfire videos
I have a simple question that is a bit complicated
I want to use the monetization in Youtube for my Crossfire videos. As far as I know I need a permission to use the contents. So is it possible to get a permission for Crossfire? And who would be the contact person in this case?

Just write: I dont own CrossFire and only use this video to entertain.
You dont need special contracts or anything. -
So, the question still isn't answered. Someone who got an idea?I have a simple question that is a bit complicated

Now I can stop washing cars outside of my nicely build house.
But seriously if you want to do this make sure you know what you are doing. This can easily get you some copyright strikes:

Yoursista you won't make some godly amount but you will net a fair bit. More than you had before anyway which is worth it.
Njeppero you are dumb if you think that writing "lol I don't own this" in the desc will stop copyright.
Smagjus you don't really NEED to get permission from G4/Z8/SG in this because most of the time they wouldn't take legal action anyway. You are basically giving their game free advertising and in turn they are making money off of you making money. I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if you really feel you must contact support or PM saidin. -

you can get approved for monetization a few different ways, I know youtube can send you an application email, and I think you can do it if you already have an adsense account but I'm not sure about that.
You can also become a youtube partner but that is really difficult. -

I meant getting permission from z8games :P
It'd be nice if a GM could post here telling us what to do and if we're elligible, and if it's case-dependant or not. -

Like I said, you don't really NEED permission from Z8games, or it's parent/head companies.
You can by all means request permission, which would require sending an email/ticket to their support or customer service departments. However it would be quite time consuming considering they would just say yes. -

I'd still like some confirmation from a GM that this is indeed the case, trying to cover my ass here :P -
This is in the ToS. Basically it says you need written permission. I'd recommend using this information from G4box's website to obtain it.

Its under the fair use policy. You can use gameplay in a review or user made type of thing, like montages.
You cant breach copyright laws and gameplay doesnt.
copied from youtube:
Which videos are NOT eligible?
Your video is not eligible if it contains content that you didn't create or get permission from its creator to use. You need to be able to show written permission for the following video elements:
Audio: recorded music, live performances, cover songs, background music, etc.
Visuals: images, logos, software, video game footage, etc.
Any other content you don't own worldwide commercial usage rights to.
And how much do you make? -
I just informed myself about the fair use policy and I think you are right.Giggletron wrote: »My CF vids are monitized.

Meanwhile I got a response for my email. I am told to use use the support system. It seems to be an automatic response. I already sent a ticket before I read the new messages. We know our support team very well. I think they won't understand what I am asking for.. I will wait until next Friday and when nothing special happens I will just monitize my vids with a reference to the fair use policy. -
There isn't really a difference between monetized copyright violations and non-monetized. If it is fair use, it is fair use. If not, it is not. The below link basically says that it has not been tested in court yet, but it guesses that whether it is fair use depends on what exactly you are using the video for regardless of the licence. Most games don't really care if you do use it, and I haven't heard of any instance of someone getting sued for doing it. But, Youtube discourages it for a reason. Personally I think most cf videos are fair use. Especially reviews as those are for the purposes of commentary, education, and research. However, things like montages are much harder to justify the fair use of under 17 U.S.C. § 107 versus 17 U.S.C. § 106 and 17 U.S.C. § 106A that restrict usage.

Sorry, that we don't agree with you but some people care. I am German and we have one of the strictest copy rights in the world. For example: If someone would sue you for downloading 3 songs here, you would most likely have to pay 3000€ (4100$).You people are dumb.
It comes down to whether the game developer cares if you use their game or not.
Crossfire doesn't care otherwise you wouldn't see a Fan Works section.
Stop arguing about it and go make videos.
