black screen when loaing a game

Ok. So I did some test for you guys. Test were done with 4gigs and 2gigs of Ram
First 4 gigs of Ram:
Sec.to load/ map / players / server / Ram % used
7sec. Ship 12 Alph 7 32% Ram
9 sec. BW 10 Alph 7 29% Ram
8 sec. MM Port 10 Alph 7 26% Ram
Second 2 gigs of Ram:
9 sec. Ship 10 Alph 7 57% Ram
12 sec. BW 14 Alph 7 62% Ram
11 sec. MM Port 12 Alph 7 56% Ram
Now all test were done with a stop watch, a G15 keyboard that shows CPU %
and RAM % ,Windows XP, I didnt record CPU usage because they all were about the same.
Test started when the Join Game button was hit.
When join was hit I did notice a black screen just before the game loading screen appears.
But when 2 gigs were used the black screen time increase, from just seen to 1 to 3 sec.
3 sec. time being BW map. I will test 1024 MB Ram tomorrow as I do have 2, 512 sticks of Ram.
To late to do now as I will have to swap out the Ram. Hope this helps?
So finishing test, test 1024MB RAm and 512MB Ram
First 1024MB of Ram:
Sec.to load/ map / players / server / Ram % used
13 sec. Ship 13 Alph 7 90% Ram
14 sec. BW 16 Alph 7 88% Ram
34 sec. MM Zone13 10 Alph 7 91% Ram
Second 512MB of Ram:
5 min. Ship 8 Alph 7 99% Ram crash
2 min. BW 16 Alph 7 99% Ram
3 min. MM Zone13 12 Alph 7 99% Ram
There you have it. All had black screen loading. Ship crashed back to lobby.
BW loading black screen with 5 sec. of loading screen froze, playing was
crap. MM ZONE13 same as BW. So in my case its A Memory problem, could be many things, but as I said before. Bet its a Ram problem with all the new content added to game. Take it for what its worth. Do youre own test. Dont juust wait for someone to fix it for you. Would be nice if someone else could do the same test as I did... -
Another thing I would like to add: The 512 MB test would be single channel on the memory. All other test would be dual channel memory. Another thing is all that have post here with spec. seem to have a Intel Chipset. May be a problem with Intel CPU ? If you guys could post Spec. This would help alot.

Solution?!?!?!
i used to have this problem before the patch but i fixed it by doing the following...if u have windows xp put your settings at minimum dont allow it to record the game and put it to 800x600 (wont really effect gameplay) then 16 mp and u should be fine gamma doesnt matter. i have a new problem ever since the zombie update it takes forever to load a match and its really ****ing me off if anyone can help plz tell me how to fix this problem. -
Bro, DO YOU KNOW HOW TO READ? I don't know what the hell your talking about changing your graphics and resolution settings to fix something this isn't what this thread is about -.- This happened AFTER the patch not before the patch. Idiot. Yes, the problem is taking forever to load a match, THAT'S WHAT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT. NOT SOME PROBLEM your talking about that no one understands. Idiot. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE learn to read before you post. -.- God.Omega30000 wrote: »i used to have this problem before the patch but i fixed it by doing the following...if u have windows xp put your settings at minimum dont allow it to record the game and put it to 800x600 (wont really effect gameplay) then 16 mp and u should be fine gamma doesnt matter. i have a new problem ever since the zombie update it takes forever to load a match and its really ****ing me off if anyone can help plz tell me how to fix this problem. -
settings have nothing to do with this problem. I'm running on absolute minimum settings and my PC, although old, is still fast enough to be over the minimum requirements this game has.
If it is user-based and not CF-based, then there would have to be a new minimum requirement which hasn't happened.
I still believe it is something with the coding and more so, connecting to other players. If I play the same map with the same host long enough, I get little to no delay... But if I play a different game and with other players, it takes longer..
Something's going on that's causing more delay in connectivity than usual and it's not because of my PC or ISP that I've been using to play this game ever since I first logged on. -
Its not connectivity. It still happens when I load something in Shooting Range.settings have nothing to do with this problem. I'm running on absolute minimum settings and my PC, although old, is still fast enough to be over the minimum requirements this game has.

Ok.. So with connectivity between players is not the actual issue, then it could either be the coding of the patch or again, connection to the server itself..
I'm leaning more on the coding now because even when someone throws a grenade, my game freezes for 2 seconds.. Similar to the flash bang bug we had after HM. Maybe those files might have something to do with it...
All I know is that I'm not gonna play until they fix it and make a sticky thread about it being fixed. I tried playing 2 simple games just today and I almost threw my laptop out of my house... -
Get your hands on some more Ram, borrow some from another computer, buy some, ect.
If the Memory doesnt fix things, your at no lost. Because more memory is a good thing, your computer will run faster. Look at my test judge for yourself. More memory better gaming.... -

*ahem* once again, read the specs that other people post. Some people have gaming computers where they can run higher quality games than CF, and they still have the same issue. -

I understand that, but what you dont understand is that 99% that are having problems have less then 1gig of Ram. Now its just a guess on my part. It may be other things that are causing problems. But you can sit there on your hands and wait for them to fix a problem that a very few are having. [small % there is no motivation for them to do] or you can start eliminating things to get to the problem. Now you clearly see I have no problems playing the game in my test. Only when I drop to 1 gig do I start to see a problem, when I drop to 512 MB of Ram the problems increase. Now you can post again about its not our spec. its the game... I KNOW THIS. The game is the problem. So just sit there and do nothing. Or start eliminating........ -
All you guys do is troll, If you would post your spec. This would help them pinpoint the problem. Just complaning and trolling people that are trying to help you does no good at all. If you dont know how to post your spec. There is a free program that you can google that will do this for you. CPU-Z will give you all your spec. of computer. The right way to post your spec. would be:
Intel Core i7 2600k 3.4 GHz
4096 MB DDR3 1600 MHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 1 card
Asus P8P67 MotherBoard
Windows XP SP3 -

Okokok. I'll increase my RAM see what happens. I already posted my specs a few posts after Saidin posted here, you just needa find it. -

I did see your spec. and all others. This is why I came up with it may be a Memory problem. All of you have 1 gig or less memory. This is why I did the test I did, to see if I had a problem with less Memory. And I did. Now I would like to add, I have no problem playing the game, Im just trying to help. If I had this problem I would trouble shoot and find out what is going on. They way I would start:
1 - Close all programs
2 - Update Drivers
3 - Change settings to low, game settings and computer
4- Then I would try more memory
Try these steps 1 at a time, You may find after step 1 the game will run. If not move on.
Good Luck.... -

Did you guys find something? Any clue what might be causing the black screen?
Could some of the moderators pls keep all those trolls out of this thread? Some of us have 2 or 4 GB RAM, so pls stop telling us to buy new computers. This game is using a 10 year old engine, I would understand it if someone goes to the Crysis 2 or Assassins Creed Forum and complain about the game cuz its not working on his old computer but this game is old and simple. I don't know about the others but I am a student, I have to work to pay my school and I don't have the money to buy a new computer ever year, and especially not when I am rarely using it. Its not worth it. -

I'm a student too i feel you Dx We can't just go and buy a new PC whenever we want. And yea, people with over 2 GB has the same problem and they can run stuff like COD/Crysis, AvA, ect. -

And you have how much memory? 4 gigs? -
I have 447mb of ram its cause this computer is really old but can still run cf fine, been playing since like 1 month after cf came out never had a problem this big that's affecting my whole cf gameplay.. cant do anything, so cant complete missions, wasting the days of my limited items and more... it's not cause of the ram because even if u had like 4gb of ram and windows xp or something it still happens..
-
It's definetly not the specs of the user's PC's... Different OS, different RAM, different processors and it's all the same results.... If it was consistent with 1 of those 3 things, then maybe, maybe it's the PC...
It still has to be something on z8's side of the table. -
i have same prob,i have been playing cf for well over a year with no probs since this zm patch cant join a game, any game until half way through. i have done everything they suggest from disabling my anti virus,to removing every aspect of the game from my comp and re installing.[tried 11 times from different locations/servers]still same probs.playing a clan war is a joke cant join until round 4 or 5.my clan used to cf every day now 12 of us have same prob, all of us with diff comp at diff spec, so i really don't think that has anything to do with the problem.at the moment the game is unplayable.
