Swearing.
Oki... First things first.. I understand why z8 would block Swear words.. and words. Its Rude..
But in my opinion i think z8 should un block swearing. Why? Because this is ''T'' Game T = Teen and Teens swear... and Teens like my self like to say what we want to say... id go dude that pi.ssis me off but i cant spell it without the period witch anoys the hells outa me..
and sometimes u wanna type a word and it has a censored word in it and it b like al???sk and thats very anoying..
So all im asking is to un blur the swear words soo we can express our selves.. Remeber this is a T game TeeN soo dont say but there are children i dont give a fck they shouldnt b playing this if they arnt old enough -.- pfshh ... and FYI noob is not a swear word -.- same with HACK

too many infractions and you get banned from the forums
you don't get freedom of speech here since you're using their website. that's something all veterans here know. -
Teen can encompass anyone from the ages of 13 and up. And thats regardless of anyone's views of what they consider a child. Since TEEN is between "thir-teen" and "nine-teen" both quite different maturity levels. And this also doesn't exclude kids under such an age who got permission from their parents.
So, unfortunately for you the ESRB ratings still apply at this level and you have to deal with it. If you want kids swearing their blocks off with high pitched squeaks. Go play COD. -

pretty sure at 18 you're not a teenager anymore, even though it does have teen in the number. -

Varies from country to country, but the ratings system distinguishes 18 and up as mature depending on the content. But it was the general idea of the 'teen' census for the adults who seem confused by the ratings. -

Mature is actually 17 and up... so you can be a teenager (at 17) and still be considered mature.
The ESRB as far as I know doesn't rate online interactions, so if cross fire wanted to they could remove the filters. they just choose not to, it doesn't have anything to do with the rating of the game. -

Either they changed it in the last few years or something since I remember it was 18+, think I still got games that say so. I could be wrong there.
Usually the ESRB makes games have standards they must uphold even online, and posting obvious warnings experiences may change, but if there is any sort of mature content available, they must label it as such. Like Everquest and such, you'll see such labels.
However, since ESRB hasn't rated CF's online interactions, and their only notation of such ratings is only 'Violence' they are most notably making sure to keep it within that grade to prevent it being regraded. -

what are you basing all this on?
I've seen on many game that "online interactions are not rated by the ESRB", which lead me to assume that they never rate online interactions, which means cross fire could let the players swear, as long as they're not encouraging it and doing it themselves or anything.
I've never heard of a Mature game that was 18+... as long as I can remember it's been 17+.

Guess I've gotten to used to the euro style ratings. Coulda sworn ESRB had it as 18+ for the longest time, but checking my games proves its been so forever, my apologies. Learn something new everyday.
Well, the basis runs on the 'content'. Perhaps one could argue that a chat system is considered content of one form or another. Since not all games have it. But then again, considering the origins of the game, I'm more surprised why they haven't removed 'blood' and other stuff to tame it down. To be honest, our version has it good in the censor regard. -

The ESRB does not rate online interactions, I'm not sure what you don't understand about that. There are games that have chat rooms and and allow microphones, but they're still rated teen, and people can swear as much as they want in them (example: ratchet and clank games)
A game can have blood and still be considered teen, as long as it's not excessive, and there aren't a lot of other things that could be considered bad like swearing, nudity, drug abuse, Violence, Etc.
The only two things CrossFire has are Violence and Blood (although for some reasons ESRB didn't include blood in the rating). Based on my research, that would warrant a rating of Teen.

In conclusion, removing filters would not affect the rating of the game. -

I just said what I've seen. When they lose the honorable soldier after I reported them and got a response from the support then what else did happen? Of course they just get temporary bans but it is worth it. They just have to be reported repeatedly.Really? Don't tell me.. I have 30 one shot hackers reported and noone of them are banned, and your swearing people are banned? Wake up from your fantasy..
You have to know that it takes several weeks until a ban is given right now. -
If the publisher wants to censor its words because they feel its inappropriate to have 13-18 year old teenagers running around swearing it up, they can. Period. Does it degrade the game? That's up to a matter of opinion. Obviously these Developers feel that it does. Deal with it?
