It's a loose loose situation for them.

They do things right and clean stuff up immediately and people yell at them for closing and/or deleting things before they had a chance to be trolled. Or they close things late and everyone complains because the reason they closed it off is a one-line "we're done here" type statement.

Trolling is not closing a thread with a response to end the subject. (Even if it is premature). Trolling comes when the other person continues to post the same stuff over and over again. And the more they do that, the more random forumers start jumping on the bandwagon. And within 10 minutes we've got one moderator trying to remove threads and people from the boards as fast as they can post hate threads.

    It's not an easy job.

Working with these boards both from a technical and social standpoint is a constant uphill battle.

The fact that these guys remain active and help as much as they do sometimes boggles even my mind.

    Also, it's Saidin. Not Saiden.

To "Troll" is to post inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

Yeah, do that closing statment but please dont do it in a rude manner? A perfect example is what Giggle just did. He capitalized "Their" with the purpose of emphasizing that word. Its not like Im stupid. I understand what he means.

Thats what I mean. To post something like that is obviously going to cause an emotional reaction to someone. Maybe not me, but for the average forumer that doesnt know the rules or is just starting posting.

Yes, hate threads. Shouldnt you guys try and prevent them just as much as you close them?
  • They're mature and cool. Most of them. They just follow the rules whether we like them or not. Yeah...they close some threads but sometimes they do it to prevent flame wars or nerd fights.

So far I haven't seen them do anything wrong O.o

oh rly? what about the drunk mod? humm

It seems that currently the close thread button is the go-to for many MODs at this point. I've seen multiple threads that could just be cleaned up, rather than flat out closing.

More often than not it gets to the point where it would take too long or be pointless enough that it may aswell be closed and possibly remade it its important but got trolled.

Im not denying hat you say is true, but often it simpler for us and we can go on our merry way and do what we were doing before. We have our own lives too, we cant be sitting there going through post after post after post and deleting them.

Its much simpler to have the OP remake the thread.
  • mods ban people for the fun. another thread has been made on a closed one? BANNED. PMed? nah not gonna reply cuz i know ill lose.

You understand that what you're saying is that you want people to break the rules, right?

They're of legal age and are allowed to drink?

Of course stuff like that WILL happen, but they also get taken care of when it does. They don't just get let off the hook.

So when people constantly make useless threads on pointless things or not reading the rules and directly addressing another member..multiple times per day and mods take action over and over again...then a mod says something that might be slighted...you want them to be removed?

Heres an idea and this isnt directed to you in no means...you know we get along. STOP trolling mods, follow the rules...that simple. Of course they get a little agitated. They take their free time to try and help this community out and this is what they get? Come on....

They signed up for it. They are Volunteers as Saidin stated. My bad for the spelling.

Its like signing up for a football team and then complaining that your legs hurt. Of course they're gonna hurt; you signed up for it.

I type how I speak. If I was talking to you face to face, I would have emphasized the word to. I wasnt implying you were stupid. That sentence wasnt even aimed at you but to people in general.

What do you mean provent them.... We cant stop people posting hate threads.
  • Denxi wrote: »

In that situation I personally tell them to remake it... not just have them guess at doing that. They have permission.

[MOD] you know what you are always doing ok? now stop talking
  • ALSO to anyone who has said or will say that all mods are mature.

This is false.I won't refrence any Metin Mods that the CF community has had "experience" with, however Famasnewb proved himself to be immature during a brief "situation."

Not saying that that should be used to refrence every MOD, just saying that just ebcause someone is a MOD doesn't mean they're perfect.

Thats true. Ill have to agree with that

In my post that you responded to, the majority of threads I have referred to have not been given permission to be remade, and have either been 100% within the bounds of a decent thread topic or have been hugging the line, but could still hold valuable discussion.

The extremely large threads seem to get cleaned more than the medium sized ones do.

    Examples.

i dont recall closing one of your important threads.
  • [MOD]Giggletron, please use the PM system to talk with Denxi. (i wonder why u got lots of posts)
  • MOD's are not cool at all.
I have been insulted by one (I will not tell the name).
And sometimes I PM some MOD's and never got answer (xFire, in game(I will not tell the name to)).

Sometimes I think they don't care about people who are not known.

Our discussion is relevant to the current situation.

    Nice try though
  • Examples.

i dont recall closing one of your important threads.

I'll try and find some. Most of the time they get to 40-60 posts, sometimes as high as 80, and are then closed.

None of mine have been closed prematurely by a Z8 MOD iirc, and I never emant to give off the impression that they have been.

Well if I did wrongly close one of your decent threads, Ill apologise for it.

This thread has a topic open to all, they are discussing it's related subjects.. As long as it's related to the OP and everyone can be involved, PMing isn't necessary.

So is mine, so why did you delete my post? Exactly why people complain about the moderators here, if something doesn't favour them than it's usually deleted.

Things have been explained to you, if you are indeed the real limes. You must have got the point by now, all you're being now is a troll.
  • FYI No one is denying that mods don't make errors. They do.

Most of the time a moderator knows when they've screwed up. And they are part of the solution to fix it.

When a regular user screws up they don't really become a part of the solution. They just continue to become a part of the problem.

    There are exceptions as always.

Mods have lives too, because they have XFire does not mean they will respond to CF Support stuff. Most MODs have xfire for various reasons, for various games, it is not out job to be a Moderator 24/7 when out of these forums.

As well, many of the questions we receive from players on Xfire, are questions that belong sent in to support.

That includes in game, sometimes in game we wish to just play, chat and hang with our players, getting closer with the community.

mods should never do errors. if they do it means it wasnt a good choice to promote them

Moderators are chosen because they give something to the community. They may not appear to be the best moderators, but trust me, they work their butts off behind the scenes. I'm friends with a few of them, and the things they do would make the average forumer cry.

Some moderators may be as some say, "immature". It's because, with amount of [insert bad word here] that they deal with everyday on the forums, they just can't sit down and type full out sentences like you and I. They have to go around and constantly work. That's why we have moderators from different parts of the country, so that some mods can go have a break and live their lives.

Trust me, I've worked with tons of people in one day [ESL administration isn't a breeze, you know]. It gets tiring.

That speech was beautiful! It was absolutely beautiful!

Then there would never be any moderators, or even any administrators.

If you have a problem with something a moderator has done, please either send a Private Message to another Moderator who'm you trust and they'll being it up to the right people, or private message directly to an Administrator.
