Sometimes evolution isn't all it's cracked up to be.

It's the font being used being condensed via the Free Transformation tool. It works like that with many fonts that weren't designed for any font lower than the default 12.

Yes, but it looks like they put the style to "none" which makes the font pixelated, and when it pixelated, it is easily readable under size 12.
