My hair tells me that most people believe he isn't dead due to lack of real proof, and the fact that his re-election is nigh completely secured by becoming a hero and doing what the last President could not.

Also, I'm told that as he wasn't doing favorably, this is what he needed most.

Basically, they think it's too convenient that some one who has eluded kill or capture is now dead, right around the time where there is a person who stands to benefit so much from it.
