GM to SnD

I was just noticin like last night, how much of my ex-friends and teammates that i've had from my GM days that moved over the SnD and became a big hit. These are the ones I can think of:

theRuST
Jimmy [jsx/phong]
SaintMalice
Dellz
Snipes
Zoom
Aenaes
Dot

there's tons more but my memory has deserted me -.-

  • Well, GM and SD are very similar, except that there are more competitive matches for SD, than GM.

Also, if you're good at GR @ GM, then you'll be an amazing SD player once you learn all the spots, angles, and strats of the SD maps.

you're a big hit? lmao what have you done? i don't know why you think you're a 'solid' player. You aren't good. When you going to quit anyway? you made enough threads on it. attention much?

I'm going to have to disagree.
Going GM before I went S&D was the worst decision I've ever made and wrecked my gamestyle in so many ways I'll always be a sub-par S&D player.

First its the aim. You don't really have to, in GM. You pinpoint, which isn't the same thing. Pinpointing is turning your mouse for audio cues.
When the target runs away in GM, you stop shooting and run the other way.

Then its the actual movement. This is one of the few areas you'll benefit from when switching to S&D. You can bunnyhop like a boss and it will help you since it works in S&D too, for silent fast traveling (not invisible though).
Its also an area which will mess you up.
You'll look for targets and shoot at them without considering they'll shoot back. You won't fall back properly, because in GM, they don't shoot.
You're always used to being in the visual range of the enemy in GM, and it doesn't bother you.
    In S&D you're dead.

i lost my thread, longpost is long.
tl;dr: dont switch from GM to S&D.
  • Never liked Ghost Mode, I'd rather play on modes that have all players visible :P

i did this 1 week ago....-. from good reasons i would say 1. my old clan [1+year] -had a fight with leader , after i have been kicked all good players and good friends of mine left.
    2. gm its full of hackers...they wall like hell ....

    ESL s1 - 2nd
    ESL s2 - 2nd before I left/cut
    Charlie Division champions wogl-eu s1
    4th in wogl-eu s1

Who are you so tough alt guy. You've probably not ever even played me or played with me. And I don't play anymore, just pubbing this week since i'm back home. I have quit but I just stay around on forums, cuz randy kids that think they're tough/cool like you really amuse me. And I dont need attention. I get enough followers on my twitter page.......

Once you can adjust, I would think it'd be easier because you would have a better eye and could see people out of the corner of your eye, and you could PP the sound better.

BUT I've never been a good GM player so Ill take your word for it ;p

Not to mention, you are more attuned to the sound of running boots, helping you catch an opponent off guard as he turns a corner and finds himself shot at.

So which FPS games were you referring to, that has a developed competitive community?
CF certainly doesn't fall under that category, few f2p fps-games does.

i played with this guy before http://clan.z8games.com/charstat_cf.aspx?usn=6158502

I know why Asians (living in parts of Asia) are better at video games. Something to do with being smaller, and thus impulse time between muscles and brain is much shorter, allowing for faster reflexes.

But explain to me the physical differences between North Americans and Europeans, that explains why Europeans aren't or can't be as good as North Americans at video games?

Only video games there good at are RTS and RPG they mostly get rolled in FPS except CF
  • Personally i have to disagree with Dot, GM adds more elements to SnD than most think that benefits them greatly. Hell, not even SnD, any mode with sound.

The player mindset is the only thing that would hold one back. Its why I personally still snipe in gM, because aim and perception as well as strategizing when to fall back or push forward is needed, since if you go in the wrong spot, you die. Just like in Snd.

The key thing GM provides is speed and sound. You'd be surprised how many active SnD'ers don't utilize sound, a major key element in finding enemy positions.

Reloading, gun switching, water. These are the main 3 things that a GM pinpointer can locate with ease and take advantage of it. Secondary to that is shooting sounds and footsteps. There is an element to stealth in CF that many people never put into practice and its helped me a ton.

If you can balance your pscyhe as well as your skill its no problem.
  • I'm getting pretty good at SnD and I'm an old and experienced GM player.
My eye and reflexs are faster than most of the players+I hear better.
    not saying im good tho

this is true .. word on blaze ;)

Back in the day when me / bLuNt made sensation (aka KarMa) we decide to be a GM/SND clan .. cause we were already good in GM ..

GM taught me many things .. now in SND i can call where people walks/run or whatsoever ^^
  • funny thing is, how many players switch weapons all the time without a reason. its one of the sound which can be heard the farthest

A lot. And just like spell_caster, I too get called a waller for taking advantage of that. Just like using the sound of footsteps on water, wood, stone, sand or metal.

Alas, this also has a disadvantage, because as an experienced GM player, I automatically use my shift key to walk, so I can hear better without being heard myself, making me a slow target.
