he has troubles getting a positive score.
and you think that guy represents the UK players?
also, there's lots of good european individuals in this game, there just seems to be a problem with keeping teams together. -
I do just fine in Crossfire GM and S&D. If ya do em both, they're aren't hard. If ya came from counter-strike, it is bloody easy. If ya came from CoD series, it can be annoying, but it gets easy.I'm going to have to disagree.
Going GM before I went S&D was the worst decision I've ever made and wrecked my gamestyle in so many ways I'll always be a sub-par S&D player.
First its the aim. You don't really have to, in GM. You pinpoint, which isn't the same thing. Pinpointing is turning your mouse for audio cues.
When the target runs away in GM, you stop shooting and run the other way.
Then its the actual movement. This is one of the few areas you'll benefit from when switching to S&D. You can bunnyhop like a boss and it will help you since it works in S&D too, for silent fast traveling (not invisible though).
Its also an area which will mess you up.
You'll look for targets and shoot at them without considering they'll shoot back. You won't fall back properly, because in GM, they don't shoot.
You're always used to being in the visual range of the enemy in GM, and it doesn't bother you.
In S&D you're dead.
i lost my thread, longpost is long.
tl;dr: dont switch from GM to S&D.
The only thing which takes practice is getting consistent HSing down, at least for me.

I was just noticin like last night, how much of my ex-friends and teammates that i've had from my GM days that moved over the SnD and became a big hit. These are the ones I can think of:
theRuST
Jimmy [jsx/phong]
SaintMalice
Dellz
Snipes
Zoom
Aenaes
Dot
there's tons more but my memory has deserted me -.-
Big hit? Maybe.
Although my early stages of S&D were terrible, until Zoom gave me the chance to join #paranoids and get to play with experienced and great S&D players.
Despite the fact I do well in S&D now, and people acually recognize me as a top rifler or a cheater (hi phys1x #1 eu team!) - I would come back to GM anyday if it was as fun as it used to be. Lack of competitive scene (for example: WOGL picking up GM) also forced me to move onto S&D. -
GM allows SnD players to be what I call "scouts". GM, if you properly play both sides, allows you for fast and totally silent movement AND ennemy detection of a higher degree. Once you study your maps well and know where the ennemy can be by what time, you will become a fierce stealth fighter, knowing how to flank and ambush the ennemy.
You can as such win battles without even fighting, assasinating ennemies one by one or making a major diversion and taking out packs of ennemies on your own.
Although I have to agree that SnD players have better fighting skills and tactical sence, making a GM player less valuable at pure combat situations (defendind or attacking head on isn't what a GMer will have an easy time to beat SnD players on).
Than again, for pure assault, TD is more usefull than SnD for TD will train your reaction and your ability to take down multiple ennemies. It will also force you to analyse the situation faster than in SnD, since in TD you often can't run away or hide like in SnD and since ennemies WILL keep attacking in TD. -

Aye agreed, even though HK only lasted like......idk a month it was really good craic.
And by big hit I meant that like...... you are well known/recognized in the snd scene. I know im a baddie :P
and btw, dot could probably crap on most of the imbeciles here without even playing for ages. I don't know any GM teams anymore but I don't imagine they can be as good as panthers or hk or dark.
