Any tips on running a clan?

I just started a new clan (18 members so far) and I wanted to see if you guys had any tips on running a clan.

I'm not stupid, I just want to hear from other clan leaders.

  • if u ask ppl on CF, they'll tell u to make a team with friends, disband in 2 weeks, then remake it with a different name!
  • I was leader of #Converse. for over a year. I strat called, and thought about what I did during.

My first tip: Show the team how you want them to act. I mean, you get one of them days where you totally hyped up off coke? Control yourself, dont go crazy; make sure your team respect you as you respect them.

Second: Dont be afraid to tell someone whats on your mind. If you get a player that you may feel you will have to work to keep, dont show him. If he thinks hes ahead of the clan, put him in his place. I had this problem with Baddy, he was little so i didnt really shout at him, and he turned out to be #Converse.'s downfall.

Third: SET A TRAINING TIME AND STICK TO IT. Give someone 3 strikes and theyre cut, obviously if they give you 24 hours notice that is fine, but nothing is more annoying than having half a team turn up and then you dont get anywhere.

Last: Have fun with it, dont let it ruin your life or cause you stress. If you feel you need a week break, take it. Let the team build into what it needs to be, dont stop it.
  • Build up chemistry, keep the team small, and make sure your members trust you and are loyal.

This is a great example of good leadership.
I'm the leader of WeAreLegion. We've been around for a while now. You have to remember that, yes, you are the leader. BUT you are only as good as your clan is. You can't carry a team alone. You need to train your team to be as good or even better than you are.
  • Hi i'm the leader of DeathCharity we have 35 members but we are low rank since the point of the clan is to take in newbs and help them out with tips and make sure they don't become one of those QQing asses that always kicks skilled people.

    1. Don't let someone be a leu because they are a high rank sure they may be better but they still may be an ass and kick everyone in the clan.

    2. Give people something to shoot for. For example have a leu spot open to be taken to a very active member or give zp away as a contest etc.

    3. Try to aim for all ranks unless you are some pro clan or something don't just go for leus+ because chances are they are just going ignore you unless your clan is pretty popular.

    4. Finally don't be an ass. If your always bossing clannies around tell them they HAVE TO leave their games to clan war then they won't like you and most likely leave the clan to join a better environment
  • Make sure you're all friends, and everyone gets a long. Last thing you need is a massive clan fight, because as leader everyone expects you to fix it somehow and sometimes that requires losing members.

So make sure everyone gets along and that you're friends with everyone.
  • I was clan leader so here are some tips.....Try to have as less drama as possible cuz drama leads to a big arguement and big arguements lead to clan leader choosing which side and every1 in the clan chooses a side..if u choose 1 side the others leave...This has not happened to me but been passed down to me by other clan leaders
  • First step : U need a Nice Name Not Like King Or Owners
Second Step : Recruit Players that play well
Third Step : If You got friends Let them apply too Your Clan :)

And This is My Advice Be Patient And Ur Luck will come :)

it's not easy to make a clan famous, if you want to make it knowned over CF, You have to be Major and lt.s high level, and dont recruit noobs, just recruit High levels.

But, It's funnier to be in a new started clan with friends too.. funnier to play with. And funnier to talk with on ventrilo/skype etc.

    Excellent advice!
    Heres some of my advice.

1: Yourself(The clan leader) must good at the game and have a game seance. If your getting carried in a scrim by a member, then I think something should be improved.

2: Use a communication program when scrim/wogl/esl it's alot quicker then typing. Go for Vent or TeamSpeak 3!

3: Keep upto date with your players! If your members are doing a great job in scrims/collecting points & ranking the clan up? Reward them. Also if your any members get accused of hacking, who ever accused of them hacking(not them being a no.oob or something) for evidence.
  • I had this problem with Baddy, he was little so i didnt really shout at him

    Lmao .

    She's lying.

    Okay I lied.

    Cookies do help.

OT: Get vent/ mumble, it's easier for a group of people to form an identity with another if they can actually talk to other people, if someone doesn't have vent or mumble, that's even better, bring them on and show them how much fun it is. If you don't know what Ventrilo or Mumble is I suggest looking into it.
  • A good leader builds relationships with his members to a point in which respect is being built
A good leader understands each of his members and also understands he cant deal with member A the same way he deals with member B
A good leader is stern and fair.
A good leader demands alot from his team but never enough to but a strain on his players.

    just some characteristics
  • This is all very great advice guys! :D (I didn't expect this response)

Thanks for all the tips! ^.^

BTW: Make sure you get some kind of communication like Vent/or teamspeak3. If you can't afford Vent, get mumble or raidcall.
