Computer support
I have a broad understanding of computers and I personally enjoy helping people with their own. Any questions regarding computers, computer upgrades, software and anything computer related can easily be answered by me.
I can also build you a computer at any price range you want. I'll link you to parts off of www.newegg.com where you can order and put it together yourself (building computers has huge benefits compared to buying prebuilt ones, some are the fact you save 40% of the cost)

Need a new monitor.
20" or more please, really cheap.
I recommend this Asus 22' monitor with a 2ms response time (optimal for gaming)

comes in at around $150, can't beat it for the price. -

And upgrade your power supply to this http://www****lonline.com/product/55296/CMPSU-500CXUK/Power-Supplies/Corsair-CX500-Builder-Series-500-Watt-ATX-PS/2-Power-Supply-Unit/PSU0201/
That's if you're using your computers stock supply (I'm guessing it's a prebuilt)
Im building from scratch so power supply isnt a problem
Im assuming thats cclonline?
EDIT: yeah..
Thats the best I can get for £200? what about a 6950 2GB which is £217 that ive been looking at. -

approx £600.
Im pretty set on a AMD 3.2 6 core for the processor. Rest ive kinda not 100% decided yet -

GTX460 is £140
The 6950 is really good, although I don't justify of that price. Even If I had the money, I have no reason to spend that much more money on a card that is only marginally better. That's just me, I prefer the efficient computer with an over the top build. -

You want to spend 1/3 of your budget on the graphic card? Invest more in the power supply and the processor. You can still get a good card, but you'll have the knowledge that it's running way more efficiently than if you would have bought the 6950 with a below average PSU. Really, you don't need a HD6950 unless you're planning on playing that one game, Crysis maxed out on a 30inch LCD monitor.
Not to mention hardware in the UK is so over priced, like really, a 6950 is $230 in North America (around $100 less) -

Yeah it is... PC gaming isnt AS big as it is in America so high end parts are overpriced...
I am planning on running crysis/bad company 2 on a 23inch monitor thats all im bothered about. getting 50-60 fps at least consistently... Though id probs play crysis once.. go "meh" and play something else..
Battlefield 3 is another concern
So what do you suggest creepily nice TastyLimes -
Crysis and Battlefield 2/3 are two different stories. Crysis is much more demanding, especially if you want to play it maxed out. The only reason people buy Crysis is to see how good their computer can run it (nothing wrong with that) but it is by no means a good game.
Anyway, with £600 you won't be able to build a computer that can run Crysis fully maxed out at native resolution with 50-60 fps. It'll probably be able to play it at medium-high with playable framerates, but nowhere near maxed out. Dual graphic card i7 systems can barely play it smoothly maxed out.
With £600, you CAN definitely build an up to par gaming rig that'll be able to play all new and upcoming games on high with playable frame rates. But when building this rig, you have to take things like upgradability, efficiency etc into the equation.
I'll post the build for you in a few minutes. -

I read your line about being set on a AMD 3.2 Six Core, have to ask whether you have considered that Bad Company 2 only uses Dual Core Multithreading (Quad Core Max) and Crysis uses corse multithreading, ergo it drains 2 cores most, then 2 other cores for PHYSX and the likes.
Battlefield 3 will most likely use proper multithreading, though nothing confirmed. (ie up to Oct Core).
So my point is: you will be best off getting a Quad Core or higher spec Dual Core for gaming. This will be especially noticable over the next few years (ie until 2013) or atleast until the new xbox comes out. (the current one is triple core, so any ports will likely mimick this at best).
Thats just my CPU advice
Though probably not as nice as the OP, but heyho. -

Yeah I have thought about it :P
I dont plan on gaming alone. I plan on using skype aswell as recording so a 6core is a reasonable option for me -
£30.49
NZXT Gamma Steel Black Midi Case
£68.32
650W Corsair TX650W Power Supply
£132.92
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Processor

Samsung 22x DVDRW SATA Drive (Black)

Sold build. Knew you wanted the x6 processor so I threw it there. Will definitely run any game maxed out with good framerates. (taken from cclonline, just copy the names into the search box and they'll pop up) -

Fair enough, oh and did i mention, AMD sux
(jokes, though I do like nothing better than an Intel CPU, fanboy approach ftw). -
gfx card under 50 tht runs using a 300 psu
You're very limited

Nice. Seems good enough. Might drop down the 6gb though and knock off the case and DVD drive since I got them already.
Is that the power needs for the gfx card or is that more than it takes. Id rather have more than I need.
So this gfx card will run pretty much anything I throw at it on high (other than crysis obviously) ? Thats all im nervous about buying since I suck with graphics cards since ive never actually owned one.
Haha AMD offer better price to performance to be honest. If you got the money for Intel then fine but im on a budget :P -

sure go ahead.
The 600 watt Corsair is sufficient enough. When we start dealing with high wattage requirements like the computer I just built you, the ampage matters more than the wattage. Corsair TX line, and Corsair power supplies are notable for being top of the line. A 400 watt corsair will definitely out power a 650 generic power supply you get in a computer, take my word for it
Yes the 6870 will run everything you need perfectly. You shouldn't be nervous, you're going to have one of the best cards on the market. Any source-engine game (CSS, L4D2, ETC) will have 300FPS+ maxed out. Battlefield Bad Company 2/3? maxed out in the 70-100 fps range.
Really, I don't even think you need stuff as half as good as this. 8GB, 6870 and a 6 core processor is enthusiast level. But of course, it's always good having a computer you can use for years to come that you can easily upgrade. -
Soundcard????
If you dont have one - get one. I know you might be thinking.. its sound (or you might already havean epic one) but its GOT to be said. Look at getting an x-fi titanium at least if you dont already have one. Gaming is 50% your picture, 25% your peripherals, and 25% your sound.
Oh and can I make one or two suggestions (sod it, im going to anyway)
- Price check at ebuyer and save like £30-40.
- Look at upgrading the motherboard if you have any spare $.
- Get a 1TB samsung F3 instead of the WD. Should be around the same price for twice the storage. -

Im good with pcs, and building them, I just get stumped at what graphics card I want for the reason I said above.. I just have no idea.. im clueless.TASTYYYLIMES wrote: »sure go ahead.

Hmmm thats alright then.
Good for CSS especially since im looking more and more into that game recently. Though im pretty psyched for running Battlefield 3 maxxed out. Thats all im bothered about really...
Yeah that was the idea. I dont plan on upgrading for a while now... time to focus on getting a car this year.
Thanks for the help.. Its nice to see you around here actually being helpful

Haha yeah way ahead of ya. CCLOnline is a pretty decent site for hardware but often you can get some dirt cheap bargains from EBuyer.
Might look into it and the HDD... could look for more storage. My Steam list is growing consideratly large especially since I just bought Portal 2 and Borderlands and plan on video editing since I do enjoy it so ill need the space.
I now have a base to go on from Tasty's advice -

Sounds good. Changing the HD, ram etc to your liking is a good idea. Although I do advise picking up the GPU, CPU, motherboard and supply I provided you. -
