What's the point of patching?

But of course then Z8 would lose $50 in potential revenue so we can't do that.
Mass-Bans are done. They have been performed several times and 1 or 2 were publically announced. No sir, you're the fail: Horrible ass moderator that can't close a mother****ing thread without trying to troll people. You landed in that MOD status without knowing how. I seriously and honestly think if you are MOD, anyone can get it. Please do this community a favor and ****ing shoot yourself or at least close the ****ing thread and keep your hands off the keyboard, because, let me say it clearly: every time you touch it, only crap comes out.
Id feel insulted if you werent using such bad languagewhy don't you MODs just say it X-Trap is more like X-Crap hell you can't even talk to the guys that make the damn thing cause they can't even speck english. So much for the English only terms.
as far as the patch goes yes it's all about the money cause everything in the last 3 patches have been for zp.
free game yes to a point. A very >limited< point.
thank you
athrun
How do you know they dont speak English? How do you know G4Box staff dont speak Korean?
So what if its been ZP? Even if it was GP, people would be buying ZP anyway to either get more GP or to buy older crates/weapons. Either way money is made.
So saying that just doesnt make sense.GodlikeAngeL wrote: »a question to you [MOD]BlindRob:
i don't know much about how a hacker acts or so... but is there no chance to make a ip-ban for hackers? as i said i'm really not well versed in hack-things... and i believe that it isn't that easy for g4box/x-trap to handle all the hacks... and i know that z8games act more as a broker, than has the authority to decide all the things or not?
IP Bans are issued. Theyve proven to be inneffective howeverNeoSpectrum wrote: »But X-Trap (and potentially Z8) are possibly ignoring player suggestions on how to block hacks completely. They seem to think we are a bunch of dumb eleven year olds who have no idea how the game works. Some of us are incredible developers and security experts who know how to solve problems. If X-Trap gave us more info on how the current system works and what suggestions they commonly get that aren't possible, we could eventually reach the solution. I still stand by my idea of using MD5 file verification to look for modded clients, but again, I have no idea how the hell it works and so as a result I'm not sure if my idea is brilliant or just flat-out ridiculous.
But another I idea I have is to find a talented hack maker from either of the two infamous websites, and pay them a crapload to work for Z8 so they can tell X-Trap and Z8 how they make hacks.
The most famous generals in battle used to think like the enemy would, how could that not be good in this situation?
EDIT: Another example is when the FBI hired a famous criminal for fraudulent crimes to crack down on identity thieves. It was very successful and one of their best moves by far.
Chances are most of the people here do not know how the game works and just spew out ideas without thinking properly about it. Im not saying they ALL are and the ideas that seem plausible are actually taken into consideration. They may not publically say this but they are.
XTrap will never publically release information on how XTrap works simply because it may fall into the wrong hands, and once that happens, then there is no chance XTrap will work.Well GameGuard was protecting this game and was crap, but they are protecting other game and they are not that crap. Care to explain why?
Because AVA isnt worth hack.ing. Crossfire is a much larger game with a larger community. In short it has more hack.ing potential.
Granted, AVA is a big game, but GameGuard is just horrible... chances are there have been/are hackers, you just havent noticed it since the hack.ing comunity isnt big there.
Either that or theyve stepped up their game... which I highly doubt. -

like i said before free to a point and very >limited< and the X-Crap still stands guess it is the cheapest 1 they can find 1 yen a year. when you care more about a bisiness then you do the buyer. why in gods name would they wanna repect you.
oh other news of the day hacks are on the rise 10% zp sells up 3.5% over all another good day in Z8 boys looks like we get a bonus.

I mean the use of a patch is to 'upgrade' so most hacks that are used will no longer work ingame, now I logged on back after the last patch, and noticed the hackers have almost trippled then before. Now i know there are a lot of complaints about this.. But its really annoying, because the reporting ticket doesn't work for ****.. The day before yesterday I reported a total of 7 hackers, and they still log on to the game and use hacks.
So why won't you guys just patch the HACKS in the game, instead of adding some pink weapons and gay grenades..
Please explain this to me, because it makes no sense at all....
Cross Fire patches are not what is used to patch the hack content. xFire needs to patch and update in order for hacks to go away.+1 to this thread

here is a concept i have been working on, why not make applications for people who play in game, who are not idiots, to have more votes in vote kick. if enough people apply and become these people, it will be much easier for hackers to be kicked. so a normal person gets one vote, a hack detector, gets 3, so if there are 5 hack detector people, and they all f11, chances are he is getting kicked, no matter what everyone else wants.

xDAva.
....
I play Ava quite regularly, and i have seem people on my team, stare straight into a wall, and just fire their gun thru it, and kill players on the other team. So no, Gameguard does NOT keep that game from being hacking into, you just may have been fortunate enough to never see one. -

nice another faill QQ thread. Go complain to XTRAP its not the mods/devs/z8's job to deal with hacks -
What would make a lot of people (especially "forumers") happy is to revamp the support ticket system. Instead of closing all hacking reports automatically, have statuses that show the players something is being done (replay in the processes of being reviewed --> player banned/IP banned/no hacks detected, etc).
This would give players who take the time and effort to save/review/submit replays some closure. I understand that z8 has a ton of replays to review everyday but it's disheartening as someone who submits replays to see a closed status report and the same hackers playing 3 months later.
Everyone says blame X-trap but cleaning up the game requires effort from both X-trap AND z8.
Of course this suggestion goes on deaf ears as usual. -

dude seriously you fail at making jokes. The moderater is far way better then your useless ass. Get out the forums man seriously. -
the point of patching is more money. and for the people that saying no thats not the fact.
then make this zp crap gp crap.
for making reskinns of weapons that dont ask any skills.
only a real nub donate to run with an pink noob gunny.
they dont care about hackers so long we play this game they dont care at all.
the day most people quiting. and only hackers ar in game lets see how fast they will change from xtrap to something that does work. -
Why does everyone suggest ip bans?but is there no chance to make a ip-ban for hackers?
Do you know how useless an ip ban is? A five year old kid can get around an ip ban. All you need to do is use a proxy.
As a software developer I know that it isn't an easy job. Nothing is hack proof. Look at Windows, Unix, or Mac. Two have billions of dollars to stop hackers. Yet they can't, they release patches just like everyone else.
As for X-trap being crap... how many hacks do you think it stops every day?
Probably a heck of a lot more than it lets slip through. -
I never said they don't have cheaters.I play Ava quite regularly, and i have seem people on my team, stare straight into a wall, and just fire their gun thru it, and kill players on the other team. So no, Gameguard does NOT keep that game from being hacking into, you just may have been fortunate enough to never see one. -
in posts before, someone talk about exploits used by the cheat coders...
i am asking... how many exploits are in this game? (rethorical question, since i don't expect a number
)
and... in 2 years of crossfire... the developers of crossfire AND security solutions aren't capable of removing these exploits? -
[MOD]BlindRob wrote: »As it was said, hacks are patched. but X-trap is our main source of blocking hacks. Often when hacks are patched they just find new ways around them. It's a never ending battle that's not as easy to win as most people think. Basically every game on PC still has hackers in it. This is because if the program is on your computer, you can do what you want with it with some know-how. Even WoW has hacks for it still, and just think about how much Blizzard has to dump into preventing them.
To think that G4box does not care about everyone hacking their game is just foolish. Being you guys want to go back to this "all they care about is money" idea. If someone just starts playing the game and runs into hackers every other game, do you think they will play it for long, let alone by ZP?
I'll keep this open as long as you guys can keep it logical.
Thtas true
.....Btw. who make this tread pls stop QQ-ing.....U think u are only 1 who hate hack.ers? pls -
for me the whole situation is no problem....
there are many hakers in public games?
fine i go and play with friends or i farm myself
both is nice
new game content and especially FPS improvements are always prior to blocking some haks that come again in version 1.2 the next day
a much bigger problem are technical things like
- monitor refresh rate problems
- the fact that this game has still only 4 resolutions ( no windowed mode also) and the fact that
- u cannot disable public chat permanently
and hey - sure making money is the first goal of Z8 games and this is legit since this is a company and not some social welfare organisation that s only existent for u -
[MOD]Polleus wrote: »This is what MOST people in the "forum" community don't understand. Users here in the forum make up only a FRACTION of the people that actually play this game. You are NOT the majority, only the English-speaking / English-understanding majority that can use the forums.
There are FAR more players in this game and NONE of you know the actual numbers. So, to say that what SmileGate and G4Box are doing isn't working? I would love to hear the facts on that one. You're saying it doesn't work because people in the forum community don't like it?
Now to address the patching situation. G4Box has NO control over patching hacks. SmileGate uses the auto-ban system but that is the only point of control outside of X-Trap. X-Trap has the responsibility to patch the hacks that G4Box sends them and they do.
Here's a thought - Try blaming that actual problem which is the hack coders. Hack coders are what ruin this game, not G4Box and not X-Trap. There is only so much you can do against a group of people who's sole purpose is to hack your game. Eventually, exploits will be found. That's inevitable. All we can do is keep patching. We have no control over how fast hack coders find a way around it, it's going to happen.
For those of you who claim other anti-cheats are better, please enlighten me. WHAT online PC first-person-shooter doesn't have cheats? Quake Live got rid of Punkbuster because it didn't work. You can find cheat programs for almost any popular FPS out there and thus shows my point. Care to give G4Box a better option? I'd like to see you try.
+1 you got rid of that stupid looking sig -
Well, to be honest, X-Trap doesn't stop that many hacks itself.. I registered myself on the **** forums, to see how many and how fast things are getting released.. And the thing is, its all about the Injectors..
If you use a detected injector, you won't succeed with a hack that is released 5 minutes before. And considering there are around 10 injectors that are frequently used, it's a lot easier for X-Trap to get rid of more hackers in a more sufficiant way. It's just that they are lazy or whatever, because if they researched some of the stuff I looked at the past 4 days, they WOULD be able to get rid of hackers.
I tried it myself, I made a new account.. Downloaded a brand new hack, and used a older injector, My account got banned for 3 hours the first time. Then I made a new account again, Downloaded a older hack, and used a newer injector and it worked.
Now I posted on **** forums why it is that it depends on the injector, and they explained to me that a lot of hackers used the same injector (Faith) and that it's known by X-Trap, so thats why that injector got detected, but a lot of other injectors are undetected, so as long as X-Trap doesn't put some efford in detecting the injectors, there will always be hackers, even if they detect all the hacks. -
