the shovel... as i say...
shovel, for the players who still cant own with an axe.
actually i got both the shovel and axe and i pwn harder with axe than shovel. shovels too glitched for me, i cant get the timing -
the axe is an ok weapon to duel with (killer if you can time the left click), and the shovel would be ok as well, if you only used the left click, no one can argue it, the problem with the shovel is one that, even after all these patches, STILL hasn't been adreesed:
when you "special" swing the shovel, it swings at the same speed as the axe, only left to right instead of top to bottom, which threw me off at first, thinking it had a different timing when it doesnt, that's fine and all, and the animation looks nice that way, the problem is the secondary animation... allow me to explain
CF uses two model meshes in game; a higher quality version for the player to see, and a lower quality version for other players to see, it's also done this way because the weapons have two versions for this reason as well, and because the animation are different in either view (ex, the axe swings like you see teh shovel swing when viewed by another person)... if you want proof, look at the PSG-RD, which has red at the end of the nozzle when other people look at it, but not when your holding it.
the animation for the shovels Right click, attached to the model other people see (not the one you see), is sped up, throwing off peoples timing, and they then move in to attack you when it appears that you've finished swinging (even the sound plays at the wrong time), when in actuality on your screen, you're swinging slower, and while you hit them when the shovel hits them on your screen, because the alternate models animation is sped up, it looks like (to the other person) you are hitting them well after you've finished swinging.
you may have to read that slowly to understand, but that is the reason the shovel/spade is currently an unfair weapon... if they'd just get off their asses (no offence) and fix that little problem (I'm a technical animation student, that would be an easy fix for even me) the shovel would be a fair weapon... however, because of said reason it is currently unfair.
all they need to do is move a couple key frames, re-export the animation, and include it in their next patch.
maybe use another program to convert the file type to the proper format, but again, easy. 5 minutes tops, as all you're playing with is data, no actual textures or models, and then replacing the old animation data. -
