To summarize hackbuster's post:

Did z8games have ever reviewed his report?

Even though I personally have the same complain, I know the way you put it out will get the thread closed. Z8 might have more than enough complain, they need some understanding and a feasible suggestion to reach some better solution.

1. If I were them, I would start an official thread to claim the hacker identified, to:
a. let kids know that cheating is not cool;
b. let kids know they have to be responsible for their behavior and will get punished;
c. satisfy the legit player that I care their wish to play fair;
d. make the enthusiastic reporter's heart warn;
e. TO MAKE both legit player and hacker know the system is working;
The fact is, when the work is secretly done, the influence will be very low. People think hackers are not banned.

2. The report system is not easy to use for both reporter and reviewer. A button to create a report about hacker name, starting time and end time, etc during review (first person view) would simplify work a lot and made auto statistic possible when needed.

3. "One thing I'd like to see is for them to set up a database of reporters, and +1 their rating for every good report, and -5 for every false one. This would help them prioritize the checking of reports by user". ---- This is decent idea, I proposed a similar one before, (not taken). I would summarize the advantage.
a. It has educational meaning that reputation need to be accumulated, and can be ruined very quickly. Same rule works for both real and game life.
b. Higher rating people's report more worth reviewing. Some one with negative points is more likely to be biased, unless they correct this view by constantly correct report.
c. Higher rating player's vote on vote kick might have more weight, because they are known trying to make things right.
d. The community participate the managing in a right way.

Now talking about the assumption that z8 is afraid of argue with paypal. To my understanding, hacker's fun is ruining others' fun. They normally don't care the rank system (unlike farmers, they really need to set up environment). New weapons? If they kill 10000 per day, they sure will get all those bought. ZP weapons? Why do they care about it, a customized AWP is still an AWP, the extra magazine means how much for them? So we can conclude even though someone paid and hacked, they are just a minority. If there is no way to discourage them to do so, it might goes to majority. At that point, no one would pay to play the game, or even play the game. I think z8 should know this, the point that z8 is afraid of arguing with paypal might not stands.

For GhostBuster's statement,
"But one thing I am really asking myself since a moment ,If I was running a business and by banning so many people out of it ,will for sure decrease my profit by a huge percentage. So will it be in my interest to go in that direction ? "
My answer = I would be the biggest idiotic business man in the world .

I would post some questions here:
* How many percentage of players are trying to hack?
* How many hackers need better weapon or higher rank to make a kill?
* Will the hacker pay to buy customized weapons?
Now hacker is minority. But if there is significant sign to stop it,
* some kids will easily choose a way to revenge the unfair players,
* some kids in ambiguity with morality will choose to be winner,
* legit players will be expelled because there is no way to fight hacker,
* and legit players choose another game where a fair play seem possible,
* do you want to protect them from be exposed when you know that your business will be ruined by them.

I am a switcher from warrock, and I experience the process that from 100 games to play with to end with only several room remains. So there is always some question come to my mind -- If player like the game, why they choose to hack? (We need not answer).

  • We're not setting up a reward system for reporting, bans will never be made more public than they are, users will not get a personalized reply for every ticket they submit.
    And no, we're not releasing any statistics.

    So just to make the report simply, can you guys create a button in the replay to fill a form? With a form (maybe in-build with the replay file), it is much easier to abstract information and make the review faster.

    Or it really doesn't matter, I would not bother reporting any more.

    And about the player seach, I want to find if my previously reported player still play. I end up with a strange record.
    Character Name Rank Exp. Kill Death Last Played
    ****** 0 0 0 3000-12-31

    Maybe it is a bug in the system 3000-12-31.

    ======================================
    Ok, I just noticed that the report system is improved and is different from what I saw in June 2010. I think it will be ok for some time.

    My suggestion (last mentioned in the thread from which this was spawned) is to have a trusted reporter rating that only Z8 staff who work with reporting would use to prioritize their workload. I certainly wouldn't want to place anything on a user's public profile to act as a target. You start out with a 0 trust level and work your way up to 100. +1 for accurate reports, and -5 for inaccurate ones. All reports would still be looked at, but the ones from people known to make good reports would be seen first.

    Have you not watched the live interview?

    Sorry not yet. But I really think the rep system can be helpful in many ways. But as you mentioned they are improving it, and as I found the reporting system being improved in at most last six months, I would wait to see if we can stop the tendency of growing number of hackers in game in recent several days.

    I also want to know why kick vote seldom works. Should we not count the one who give up their right to vote, or should we force everyone to vote.

    Anyway, after you carefully effort towards your goal kdr, and got ruined by hackers once and once again, when you want to play a fun game in your favorite map, and got messed with waller and botter, when you feels you are lucky to find a hack free game, and all of sudden some one jumped in and make craps there, and when you decide to kick them using kick vote but would not work, what else you can do to fight them back?

    Remember, players has only limited weapon (2 I guess) against hacker. While the ban is the final method we can depend on. We want it to happen faster. No matter if it works or not, to involve more community member to participate the combat would definitely help.
  • there will always be hackers. I just learn to live with it lol
  • Ever selling anything on ebay with paypal? For paypal: if you ever used paypal as a SELLER, instead of a buyer, you know that sellers in paypal stand a very bad situation, if the buyer says anything, most probably you have to refund the buyer, partially at least.

    [Mod]dot and Rex get the point, patch more, you guys buy the VIP ha.cks like saidin said in the interview, you guys try it out and patch it as soon as possible, that's the way which gives most of us convenience and peace of mind than investing tons of man power to review hac.k reports. To kill a snake, cut off the head.

    I have sold things from ebay and get paid through paypal. I know how it works. But problem is not here. Just one question, are you sure those who pay to play the game would think mess it up with hacker code. If so, will it be a majority? If answer is yes, I guess there would to no remedy for this --- Once the hacking is not immoral publicly, you have no way to fight with it. So the most important thing is to enhance it to the kids.

    It is always a game of this. So it will never end. Agree. But do we want to improve our siutation? If yes, take some extra measure. The patch, will works for sometime, but every patch will put development effort, at the same time, the man power for the support can never be removed. On the other hand, in the game between the patch and hack, hack always leads one or two months. Patch only comes when there are two many certain hacks. So hacks will always ruin it for some time.

    But, it is not simply a match between the two. Players will be easily expelled from the game (or turn into hackers for revenge if not mature enough). That means, percentage of hackers keeps increasing, if no new blood comes in.

    Now see if new blood will come in. If I know a game is full of hackers, I would not bother download it. Others might have other thinking, they download hacking code at the same time -- you know my point.

    So we need definitely ban player for cheat. I also think it should be published officially. To know a hacker has been getting banned is an encouragement for the legit player who hate hacks. And it is kind of only hope when you have no legit way to fight against hackers.

    I will stop here to avoid another wall of text.

    F*** you, you suck, and we hate you.

    plz tell me where your insentive for players to actually report the hackers are then... i dont see none :/ plus i think i have given up on reporting cuz all t hey do is make a new account a bam they are back :S not a good thing...
  • One of the main reasons why alot of people including myself let the hackers slide and don't report them is because we get no reply wether or not they are punished or if they are a legit player.

    But I would like one word reply for my post like "Banned" or "Legit" as of now I don't know if my reports are being worked on and if the hackers are punished.

    I have sent in alot of reports and I myself have a 2.5+ kdr so I know just because a player is good doesn't mean they are hacking.
