Help. game won't start! "Cannot find the file needed for patch".

Earlier i tried running crossfire and xtrap loaded, then nothing happened. the game didn't start.
I un-installed the game, cleaned my registry then download and reinstalled.
When it came time for the game to patch, i get an error like this: http://img573.imageshack.us/i/sanstitrebc.png/
but mine said, "Cannot Find the file needed for patch."
I'm running Windows XP 32 bit.
any solutions?
