How Good is Pinpointing?

Met a member today. Killed us in GM. Knew where we were right as we were in the same area. Traced our Bhopping. Can you get that good at pinpointing? How?

Depending on luck or skill. I get many luck Bunny Hop kills. It also depends how well you Bunny Hop; if you mess up, you will see bullets flying.
  • I can never find out where the breath is coming from.

    ear phone, turn to max
  • Most amateur bunny-hoppers tend to go in a straight line and fail at least once so look for the fail then spray in a straight line (if you're using a silenced gun of course, don't need more m12s/sg552 sprayers -_-)

My boyfriend didn't believe much in pinpointing, till I did some private practices with him and showed him how it worked, and he became great at it. It's one of those things you acquire from practice mostly, and good headphones.

Well see, I was watching my teammate, who executed a bhop perfectly, and boom, turned around and killed straight away. And I doubt this person was hacking, honestly. I just want to learn to pinpoint like that. And turning up my 'phones to the max kills my brain.
  • Maxing the volume doesn't help much, just get it to a comfortable level to hear breath and that's all. As far as getting good at pinpointing, if you already know how, it's just a matter of practice. Eventually centering ghosts breath happens in an instant.

The only way to counter them is to bhop out of hearing range and come right at them killing mid bhop. Otherwise pro pinpointers are next to impossible to kill.

Get a friend for a 1v1 ghost match.. be sure he's on black list then let him go to one of the bomb site... play hide and seek with him... train urself to hear where the sound is from (be sure your headset is place the good side... right on right ear and left on left ear.) when u think u found him with sound... shoot, dont spray random.

  • A good pinpointer can take out all but extremely experienced bhopers. You'd have to be doing a perfect or near perfect bhop and would need to be able to swing and kill with your melee weapon in mid-bhop to be able to kill most experienced PPers in a clan match. In a pub, it's slightly different due to spray.
But you can almost always hear someone bhopping. It isn't that hard, and direction isn't hard to pinpoint if you know how to strafe with your character and your mouse. After that, you do a few test shows and they'll typically be dead pretty quickly. A good PPer can acquire and kill a bhopping ghost in 4-5 seconds typically. A very experienced PPer can acquire and kill a bhopping ghost in a second with good headphones and a soundcard.;)
It's all about practice and experience. Make sure to practice in pubs, scrims, and private pubs with your clan (which is the best way to prep for real scrims).
The best BL players typically either confuse a player via multiple ghosts in an area (for a 3v1 situation, for example), or they swing and kill mid-bhop, timing their bhop with a PPer test shooting (typically trying to come up behind the PPer test shooting or kill his buddy close by).
Remember, a BHOPing ghost can easily die via shooting at them in mid-crouch jump (whenever you jump or use crouch, the physics system seems to consider this an automatic register as an HS, but it only happens during the animation process of it seems; if you have a perfect bhop it won't be as easy for an HS to happen).
Overall, PPing can be countered. But it takes even more practice and experience for a BL player to be able to do such a thing. But a good BHOP can be countered via no noise/buddy system/walking/smoke/flashbang/grenade in key choke points/and many other techniques.
It all depends on one's experience on GR and BL. The better you are at one, the better you'll eventually have to come in the other to be able to learn how one counters techniques, and visa versa. Eventually it will make you extremely capable regardless of the side, like -pF-Chingy. Watch some of his vids and you'd be amazed how he utilizes timed test shots on GR and kills a ghost by know the typical bhop pattern, or gets up behind the GR and causes massive chaos.;)

  • Video links please? im not really bad at ghost mode... just wanna see how much amazed i'll be ;)
  • I can never find out where the breath is coming from.

same , ghost mode its not for me :(
  • I'm pretty good at pinpointing, I got a video [YT= k0nvikter] with kills from a few pub games
Down to experience, headphones, and game sense.
  • Gamma 77%
Headphones, be sure to check out the wave sound that it's on 100%
and the pc sound put it to around the 70 a 80% just check out if it hurts than lower it till it doesn't hurt.. and than check if you can hear ghostbreathing

and keep in mind when good players do bhop you can't hear them breath till the stop bhopping

And be sure to play allot of GM maps that way you will adjust to the map and knew where people will hide and before you know it you will get kicked because it seems like wallhack to the noobs..

Tired of people saying bullshjt things, Like 100 Gamma, 100 Wave Sound.

The only things whihc i feel help are, 16 Bit Color, and making sure you're PC Sound is set to HEADPHONES. Amazing how many people don't have this! :)
  • Generally, most people make at least one mistake when bunnyhopping, which can give them away completely.
I learnt how to track pinpointing by having people bait for me (unknowingly) :p
But I've got a new montage project coming up which'll show a few of the smexier kills ;D

  • Thanks forever.

Watch my tutorial guys. It will teach you a lot I'm sure.

As for seeing ghosts... It's more than just gamma 100 and headphones cranked.

Other settings help you see ghosts better and YES you can follow a bunny hopper by sound.

It's not that hard if you practice. Hope the tutorial helps you guys and girls out.

    Happy hunting,
    Buck
