Are the Forums Dying or Already Dead?

It's very possible to voice your opinion without telling someone else their opinion is garbage in such a way that it just incites more insults and useless posts.
Especially if the fact that for the most part you are referring to something game related and your negative opinion is toward us, the game or something irrelevant to another player.
The discussion here seems to be about the forums or community dying.
The question I have for that is why is the level of forums or community judged by whether or not someone agrees with an item, or function, or whatever, that is put in the game. The community should be a place to gather and find other people to game with and to discuss the game. It shouldn't be judged by whether or not a suggestion fails to make it in to the game. That should be one aspect of it.
But this is just another case of something we're never going to win at.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that despite the fact that there are still hacks in the game. They are significantly reduced. And now all of a sudden we aren't getting an hourly thread about anti-hacking failure.
But now we're getting an hourly thread about community forum failure. So it just moves from one negative aspect to another. The forums, like the game are never going to be perfect or please 100% of the people 100% of the time.
The forums are ALWAYS going to be allowed access to anyone with a Z8Games account. So immediately right there that is enough to upset off some sort of "respected" crowd.
It's difficult to address some of the other points in this thread without completely derailing it. So I'll leave it at this to see where it goes next.
Nice.

Nice.
You planning to answer my question?
Renaming channels within servers is not possible or worth it at this time.
We couldn't actually implement the restriction. And we already know that no one really reads channel names in the first place. So this would create problems and more work for us when we have to deal with the complaints that "someone is making a 4v4 game in the 3v3 channel".
If we named the server then it would also put too much restriction on the game. We would end up fielding more questions about why we can't change this.
Also, the idea of increasing competitiveness doesn't come from bringing in publics into a 3v3 match. The complaint is that people don't want to play in public games with public people anyways. Why would renaming a channel to 3v3 decrease this fact? It would only increase more publics playing with people who want to play competitively.
At this point in time there is no plans on changing the server names to "3v3 only" or imposing such restrictions. If we see a reason which will actually increase the users or improve the community then we will look to implement things.
But this idea is no different than if you made a forum post encouraging "most" of the community to play 3v3 only games in UK3 Channel 5. -

So how bout those NA & UK restricted servers there bud? I'm pretty sure there is a million reasons for this. Yet you still claim there is no legitimate reason for it to be implemented. Also how the hell is it so "difficult" to do if the other versions of CF restricted the WHOLE GAME to just them? -

Because English is considered an "universal" language while korean, japanese, chinese, etc languages are not?
Just sayin'.
You have no idea (none of us do) of the work that is involved in this business, if you wanna complain about it, fine, become a GM for another game, come back here and I will be all "ears". -

Hehehe *Still Reading*.
Allright you admit that the CF community is stupid and do not understand that a 4v4 channel would only be for 4v4 games. But do you not think it will be a usefull feature for the CF community? More usefull than a new Hat for our spops? It might be not be as easy as I think to do/code, but would it not be usefull? (I know you will ignore this question). You see no reason/You see no proffit, ok.
I don't want to send out the vibe that I hate this community, because I dont. It has many ups and the more highlighted downs. But time and time again it seems to be the same problem.
And why do we even have a Suggestions Board? The MOD went all quiet when I said that.. perhaps you can explain what it's for, coz I know you ain't taking no suggestions from us. -

I'd think Saidin's explanation of how many more problems it would cause then fix would be a good enough answer. -
2bad the Z8 staff doesn't deal with the coding.
Yea funny how that works huh? Noobs rage on these forums about the stuff that's put in the game when Z8 is just a name and has nothing to do with the developers who actually decide what goes in and what doesn't.
OT: This thread is hilarious. He makes a thread about a dying forum and look at how many people he sent into a tizzy. The mods are all up in arms that people post random junk on the forums and no one bothers to visit them except for trollers, but its their fault that the forums are dying? I dont think so.
So what if the forums are dying anyways. There are more people than ever playing the actual game so who cares if no one wants to come on and see noobs asking about the most basic junk or fool e-thugs arguing with each other. Its not worth wasting their time and personally i only really come on the forums to help people in the technical support area but when i saw this thread i knew he was starting trouble. -
well i think all Z8 comunity (i meen on crossfire game) is bad.
Maybe more people will come and wisit it if its updated more times and have some good games to intrest people.
For example if you look on Z8 CrossFire home page you will see that there is GUIDE that isnt updated for I dont know what time.
I dont see half new weapons that are in game, I dont see that STAR caracter. I see that I can buy for example scar light on STAFF SERGEANT 4 rank but ingame I cant buy it at all on that level, and more other little things on page are bad.
Moreover, there are lot of users on this forum and this page is really slow. If you delite every account that is inactive for more than half a year this site will be clean from inactive players, and if you put something intresting on this page everyone will come.
I know only few people will read this, and that is another reason why this page is so not good. -
think of it like the weather, if it's nice out you might mention it in passing, but if there's a storm coming that will strike up a conversation. So if the forums are quiet, that's a good thing, people are running out of things to ***** about. The only real hot topics now are the vote kick and the ever annoying "which gun" threads. When things are going well no one can figure out how to make a conversation about it, but find something they don't like and they will write pages.

The game can be either fun or boring, and we are responsible for its annoyance.
You get into the game thinking that you'll get bored eventually. There are plenty maps in this game to play, different modes and a huge amount of guns, re-skinned or not. And the game is patching frequently, and that doesn't happen in other popular games (Counter Strike - Source, for example, that today reached 72,841 players on line simultaneously).
Do you see people complaining about 1.6, Source or other steam games that never got a content update? No. So why do you complain about Cross Fire? Is it because of the poor reg? Or because of the hacks? Humm, let's take a look at the facts.
First, this is a free to play game. Therefore, you play for free, no costs, you only pay if you want to - and this does not happen in other popular games.
Second, find me a free FPS game on the internets that doesn't have latency problems. I'll be happy to know if there is one.
Third, yeah. Hackers are annoying and some of them are from countries that do not speak english. Correct, ok. Therefore, let's prevent all players from other countries, including the legit ones that only play for fun while their mommy is doing the dinner, from getting into the servers! Let's do it! Let's see how this game will become incredibly more monotonous with less players playing.
People, you have to realize that the game just gets boring if you want it to be boring. I don't know, start something that the community will like. Play with friends. If you are expert in photoshop, make new killmarks, new UIs, new banners, new WHATEVER. Now don't let the forums die because they have good information here, and this is where great debates are made. -
[GM]Saidin wrote: »Not all videos are parades of kill shots. When you do teaser trailers and fun videos this is what you get.
I didn't have to post about it here. But in case those who were in those games had some fun maybe they saw their names flash by in the video. Maybe they didn't. There's no reason to crap all over everything we do 100% of the time.
And you wonder why the community is dead. Pretty soon we're just gonna stop doing fun stuff like this because no one appreciates it.
Oh hai dur -

What do you think? Idk about you...Just I seem to see the same people post everyday. Also a different assumption is that a lot of people are less upbeat & aren't as fun as they were before. (Trolls Now Or Just Left Altogether)
(Sections other than CrossFire Barracks are basically dead.)
So what do you think forums dead, dying, or everything is peachy keen?
Just a question, if you will ask me I would say dying.
Drenkip is gone, Tasty doesn't troll as much except put qustionable pub videos of himself and say hes the best sniper who's never played on client but like once in a wogl pug maybe in his life. And since I am the last of the remaining forums trolls of the holy troll wars, I don't have much to troll about.. and school started lol. -
At the same time? I don't believe I stated that. My opinion is that meaningful discussion has been limited to rare threads, where like old times, the experienced and knowledgeable get the respect and time of others. I am fully able to contribute to such threads. Can I say the same about the 1000th thread about why the SPOP is considered unfair? Surely you can see the difference?[GM]Saidin wrote: »There's never anything wrong with voicing an opposing view. It's very possible to voice your opinion without telling someone else their opinion is garbage in such a way that it just incites more insults and useless posts.
Threads such as this one mainly bounce between a few who have an understanding about what the topic, and "garbage" opinions are often ignored or countered very effectively (I would not find it appropriate to say your opinion is trash here, and hence wouldn't post it). However, many other threads have garbage posts picked up by the new face of the community. Every time the hitbox is mentioned in a SPOP thread, something inside me dies. There is usually an obvious line between what deserves a reasonable answer and what doesn't.
I believe the forums as some of us know it are dying, and if you read my original post, you'd see my reasoning. While I do have some negative opinions towards Z8, my posts were directed towards the game. The gaming community in CrossFire directly influences the forum community. The forum community changes when respected and older players leave because the experience in-game does not cater for competitive or fair play.[GM]Saidin wrote: »Especially if the fact that for the most part you are referring to something game related and your negative opinion is toward us, the game or something irrelevant to another player.
I judge the level of forums by the kind of typical conversations that get going, and by the dominant forum group and who this group encompasses. There isn't a whole lot of genuine discussion going on, in my opinion. I don't believe anyone who has posted here judges the community by individual suggestions. That's just silly. It's more likely that suggestions are used as a simple example.[GM]Saidin wrote: »The question I have for that is why is the level of forums or community judged by whether or not someone agrees with an item, or function, or whatever, that is put in the game. Exactly. Idk how people can't see it...the forums are dead. There are threads that haven't been touched for hours & they've been bumped lmao.
Plus to prove what you said the typical thread is just a weapon made with that god awful site, or a pointless event from a [GM] etc. There really is no flow of conversation like it used to be. All it is now is "Hao joo doo een?" <--- Speech like that is all you see rofl. -
It's funny how you say you rarely come on the forums, but visit this thread and dodge vital points put forth. One was that the distributor-developer relationship of CF NA is dysfunctional. Suggestions and feedback should go through the portal to the developer, and the developer should then provide what is needed / wanted. You should not have to directly communicate with the developer unless the developer is also the distributor.Yea funny how that works huh? Noobs rage on these forums about the stuff that's put in the game when Z8 is just a name and has nothing to do with the developers who actually decide what goes in and what doesn't.
No one whose opinion was duly noted in this thread blamed the moderators for the state of the forums. No, it's the change of direction this game is taking, and the subsequent change in demographic. The forums used to be a place where I could learn more, teach others, and hold more frequent VALUABLE discussions. That's what it was about, and that's why this thread was posted. Don't jump to conclusions about starting trouble. The mods are all up in arms that people post random junk on the forums and no one bothers to visit them except for trollers, but its their fault that the forums are dying? I dont think so.
So what if the forums are dying anyways.
Sorry if this has been previously discussed. I understand this takes the idea a step further, and will be harder to implement. Only allow for the specific room sizes to be created within the specific server. People should catch on eventually, those who don't should get an education.Max_Skillz wrote: »I'd think Saidin's explanation of how many more problems it would cause then fix would be a good enough answer.

Flow of conversation, that's a phrase I've been looking for. Describes the issue quite well. And if I see another Munzta post a "witty" image response, my head will implode. There really is no flow of conversation like it used to be. All it is now is "Hao joo doo een?" <--- Speech like that is all you see rofl. -
While the forumers may seem to always take something to pick on, when there's some truth and discussion to go with it, I say it's something worth talking about. The hacking situation really couldn't have a whole lot of discussion, it was just "Z8 do something". This is much deeper, because it ties in to Crossfire's future as well as the forums'.[GM]Saidin wrote: »I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that despite the fact that there are still hacks in the game. But if there are enough of the "respected" crowd to continue with a dominant or rather major trend of meaningful threads, then it will be fine. The problem is that many of the "respected" have left or gone into hiding. I'm only upset because the open access has somewhat allowed "randoms" to "take control".[GM]Saidin wrote: »The forums are ALWAYS going to be allowed access to anyone with a Z8Games account. Bad Community + Shitty Gameplay Experience (All Around) + Whiny Company
= Less interest in things such as events or patches. Which causes the population to rapidly deplete. Simple.
@Saidin: How the hell do they expect you to run a company if you can't even voice your opinion about what is needed/wanted? Get some backbone...Like seriously. Also if you stop "begging" the devs for these stupid and feble attempts to "fix" the most common issues by working around them instead of directly attacking them head on...would'nt you be pretty annoyed too? Take some pride in your company and tell the mods to shut up about how you're a nice guy. Any dumbass can see you clearly have a good heart (But obviously has gone shady when the doe started rolling in with such little effort). It's just when are you gonna stop complaining that the relationship you have with the devs isn't so good. Do you realize how unprofessional and how much of a \(|)/ That makes you sound like? Once again to end this long rant...Get some backbone and start demanding sht not asking politely all the time. One last thing if the relationship isn't so good with the devs don't come to them every time for content annoying them...Ever try actually conversating...maybe about life? idk.
^ Rant is Ranty. -
