Are the Forums Dying or Already Dead?

Zoom has a point to say this game seems to prefer to attract young children that rather spend their money on ZP instead of on booze and condoms. The competitive community is't recieving anything. If it wasn't for ESL and WOGL, there would be no competitive CF scene at all.
Looking for a scrim in the clan server is like looking for a needle in hay...
An idea like changing the Clan server channel names to 3v3, 4v4, 5v5.....etc.... gets completly ignored by Z8 and instead they focus on hallloween which is one day of the year and brings in random zp crap no one over 16 years of age cares about. I dont sleep with my bunny, why the hell would I want it on my head in a FPS game...
This forum and community is becoming a MMORG spray fest. Thank god for WOGL Section or there would be nothing worth reading here at all.
Peace.
PS to Dot and Zoom, I am not drunk looooooooooooool. -

Without looking at the rest of the thread. OP wise and this. Truth also is that more people are willing to post about things they want to complain about rather than positives.
Funny how that works out. -
who said i wasn't a part of it?
stop jumping to conclusions. this community's a joke, you're a joke and your effort at getting the title of mod is an example of your worthlessness.
I simply took your words. You said no one that posted in the thread didn't belong to closed beta. I'm not looking for mod, there has been several mod calls and I never applied once and most likely wont.
I've been here since pretty much it started and I know how it was in the past.[GM]Saidin wrote: »Without looking at the rest of the thread. OP wise and this. Truth also is that more people are willing to post about things they want to complain about rather than positives.

I don't see why you should complain about positive things. Also if you're trying to improve you should take what you've done wrong, acknowledge it and then change it, otherwise you won't go nowhere.
You could live in ignorance and just focus on the positive things and say "Oh, what a wonderful community we are" ignoring what needs to be improved.
Of course I'm counting constructive criticism and not pointless rants/trolling. -

Without looking at the future patches, funny how Z8 has patches that totally irelevant to what goes on in the suggestions section of this forum.
That being said, this forum might as well be dead, nothing's gonna change. -

Do you not understand that G4Box only has some INFLUENCE over game content? The final decision rests with Smile Gate, our Korean developers. Funny how people still don't understand who actually sends the patches to our version and place blame where it's not warranted. -

Ok go delete the Suggestions Board, it's useless. -

I guess the community, and I haven't had any positive points to be posting about at the moment really, Although I haven't seen any hackers in a few days, that's the only positive thing I can think of, and yeah of course it's a big thing, but there are more things that need to be improved at the moment, then maybe you'll get some positive threads going, about how you're tackling different things in game. (Check the suggestions board..)
And if you're ignorant enough to ignore them, good for you!
Anyway, AFK - Might be asleep i don't know. -

PZ.
I'm done this is pointless. Nothing gets resolved on these forums, and when you want to PM a MOD/GM to have a civilized chat about the game they are too busy reading these threads.
Good night. -
The community dying is very much the same as the forums dying. I'm going to go out on a spark of courage and say that those of the community who wish to get serious or become an important part of it will get involved with the forums.
And what has the community become? I was around on the forums in the last days of Suba. Back in those times, I felt that those who were slightly more experienced and competitive had opinions which were treasured, and the community was willing to learn from them.
Nowadays, who rules the forums? I'm going to offend some people I don't want to, but it's some forum post-whores, and a bunch of randys who call themselves Munztas. There's nothing wrong in that, but those who are a dominant presence are not the ones with knowledge, or maturity. As some of the younger players get on the forums, guess who they idolise and get picked up by.
And ideally, patience just runs out. I've spent my time here trolling changes I don't like, and providing points that have a hell lot more evidence and experience backing them up than 99% of the points the "typical" forumers provide. In the end, I haven't really got any sense of success - the gaps just continually open up and the forums get crowded by irrelevance and immaturity.
What can I change as an individual? On the CrossFire side, any suggestion or general idea is shut down by the fact that apparently the developers get to do whatever they want. That's an absolutely ridiculous distributor-developer relationship at best, the developer should be listening to the community via the distributor and providing content that is wanted/needed.
On the tourney/competitive side? I believe recent events have shown that those in charge can show a similar stubbornness to the developers of CrossFire that we all despise.
Content has been geared towards an immature and "fun" community. If WOGL didn't pick CrossFire up, where would we be? CSN was a disaster, and that goes to show how hard it is to gain traction with a community such as this one. WOGL allowed the creation of rulesets (that up until now were generally smiled upon by the competitive side). It allowed non-league players to have some guidelines to follow so we could participate in competitive scrims without the commitments.
When I came to CrossFire? Nearly all the weapons / items I still use have been around since then. K2, M4, AWM, Deag, Conda, AK, AUG. I occasionally take out my TAR & XM8 for fun, but the XM8 has probably been the only real change. We've gained about a million types of AWMs, M4s and AKs in the meantime, and a crate system (I guess you can nullify my points here because I never won anything). I forgot the addition of Ghost Mode perks that demote skill, overpowered weapons such as the Thompson, Kriss & M12, and embarrassing additions such as a pumpkin head and a Malaysian stripper. Those are geared towards a bad community who need items that go against the whole point of a balanced shooter - time and time again I have encountered players with 1/10 of my latency, who are literally unable to frag without their beloved M12.
I can complain about how the reg has arguably gotten worse - I spent my first few months playing in Alpha without the amount of annoyance I have now in "US West" - but it also comes from the change of playstyles, where CFers now just sprint around and spray, which directly hits a poor reg system. Honestly, my rifling has always been stronger than my sniping, which dies under pressure. Yet, because of the AWM's reg, I pull much better scores.
Now to go through each specific forum. Meh at barracks, there used to be some decent conversations going on. Now it's just about 10000 threads about how to spend ZP, and random screenshots of stuff that isn't funny anymore. Guides still has the rare Denxi winner, but that has been overridden by duplicate posts from unknowledgeables who believe specific strats on a specific map can be considered a guide. Fan works used to have laughs and edits from great people - many moviemakers who are still around today aren't as active, and of course there's the loss of Paradox. It has become "give me original sound files" and "hi this is my tenth edit, but I don't take criticism so it's still bad". The clan forum has benefited slightly from the loss of trolls. Weapons and gear is just duplicate post and duplicate post, maps & suggestions are pointless, and off-topic is dead.

Thanks, but I guess my *speech* kind of contradicted itself. Because of the shift in the forum, my posts become irrelevant. What I stated as irrelevant and immature becomes the relevant and appropriate to this community.I read all of that. Why?, cause I respect you. -

Now THAT I agree with.
I can probably tell you that Smilegate are just in it for the asian versions. Us "Westerners" just get what we're given. G4Box DO try to get other stuff but they just wont hear it. I cant go into more detail but that really does appear to be the jist of it. Something needs to be done on a higher level than Saidin.
Also, I'd consider myself a competitive person, however, I keep my distance from competitive gaming souly because I hate the community that comes with it.
Also, what do you mean by that last point? -
For me, it's about the kind of talks we occasionally get going in threads such as this. Previously, I would remember intelligent conversation being carried out in many threads across the range of subforums. I would be able to visit Weapons & Gear, then Barracks, then Guides and view some great works and responses, not to mention contribute myself.[MOD]Giggletron wrote: »Also, what do you mean by that last point?
While I'm not deluding myself by saying the past was perfect (or anywhere near it), I feel the old-timers only get to express their knowledge and expertise on a rare topic like this one. Whether the shift in the community is good or bad in the long run, the general mood and atmosphere of the forums have changed, and most threads no longer seem to hold the capacity for experience to shine through. -

So tell me, please... Is it within the person's power who sits behind a PC and clicks START and then our CF starts Patching, to simply rename the channels in the Clan Servers chennels to 3v3, 4v4, 5v5.. etc. Simply that will help the CF competitive community and everyone else who wants a scrim for fun or team practise. You don't need to set code rules, simply renaming the channels might work... Why is that so hard to do for our Devs???
(PS this is Rufus' idea since he came up with it before I did -_-, so infact this is a idea that's being out for atleast 4 patches and still nothing.) -
Pretty sure Munzta's or what ever they are called would get eaten alive if they annoyed anyone. If anything they are simply fluffy sheep that provide some constant scenery.

People learn to not quote entire texts and instead cut it up and use only the specific sections you wish to respond to. If you agree with the whole idea then simply say "I AGREE WITH LUMIC" most people could careless if you agree with Lumic. Simply saying that you agree is much like saying "cool story bro" its pointless fluff that shouldn't even exist.I mean look at all the fun you can have wish quotes! You can even make it look like people said something silly.
I think people need to learn the difference between a rotting corpse and death. One could say that the forum has been dead for a while, simply all of the trolls made it seem to have life. -
I believe "trolls" have a home on a forum, I wouldn't try and get them all away. They bring excitement and opposing views. However, trolling is a rather broad term - for example, the "serious" trolls are ones who laugh and publicise death, which is rather appalling. I troll when I'm annoyed at something, but I'm willing to voice a good opinion if the thread allows. That's a balance that allows for life to flow through a community.

There's never anything wrong with voicing an opposing view. But trolling is not appreciated by anyone who is on the team trying to get things done. I fail to see how you can voice a good opinion against something and troll at the same time.
It's very possible to voice your opinion without telling someone else their opinion is garbage in such a way that it just incites more insults and useless posts.
Especially if the fact that for the most part you are referring to something game related and your negative opinion is toward us, the game or something irrelevant to another player.
The discussion here seems to be about the forums or community dying.
The question I have for that is why is the level of forums or community judged by whether or not someone agrees with an item, or function, or whatever, that is put in the game. The community should be a place to gather and find other people to game with and to discuss the game. It shouldn't be judged by whether or not a suggestion fails to make it in to the game. That should be one aspect of it.
But this is just another case of something we're never going to win at.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that despite the fact that there are still hacks in the game. They are significantly reduced. And now all of a sudden we aren't getting an hourly thread about anti-hacking failure.
But now we're getting an hourly thread about community forum failure. So it just moves from one negative aspect to another. The forums, like the game are never going to be perfect or please 100% of the people 100% of the time.
The forums are ALWAYS going to be allowed access to anyone with a Z8Games account. So immediately right there that is enough to upset off some sort of "respected" crowd.
It's difficult to address some of the other points in this thread without completely derailing it. So I'll leave it at this to see where it goes next. -

IT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER, and they even don't look at our suggestions.
Why'd we have a suggestion section, Saidin? -

Which is what SERIOUSLY puzzles me...How do you run a game for NA & The UK without speaking the slightest bit of English? -

Translators ftw.
They do have occasional English or grammar errors.
But, I bet they do speak it, but probably not as their first language. -
