AWM vs DSR-1
Ok look i been asking ppl whats better either the AWM or the DSR-1 and i been hearing the DSR-1 is better and the AWM is better and i also hear they are equal (Which i know for a fact is not true) So i decided to bring this to the "Forums" ok im asking you world whats better the AWM or the DSR-1. Time to decide and here r my thoughts (my opinions) the AWM as you shoot it like moves all around but when you shoot the DSR-1 it stays still allowing you to stay on target thats all im saying xD so whats better world?? =/

scopes in quick
Bolt action
DSR
Semi Auto
Sexy
Good if you want to stay scoped in after shots.
Shtty reload

Heh your not gonna find much luck here about making a decision. These forums are pretty biased and whatnot. But Coke Munzta is basically summing up the known factors about the weapons. Some a bit debatable.
Personally, the DSR is my baby. For obvious reasons and I do well with it. Anything is good in the right hands. -

basically, the question is:
are you going to controll a crowd?
yes: get the DSR, it's RoF makes it perfect to fragging crowds
no: get the AWM it's good to aquire specific targets, since it's 2x zoom helps at precision shots, also the 1x zoom helps in closer combats, a thing the DSR makes up by having a f*cking precise no-scope -
I have the dsr-1 and i already tried the awm.
Here's the difference:
1. are you hard scoper (dsr-1)? or are you a quick scoper (awm)?
2. Same as #1, the distinct different feature between the gun is the "scope", where after firing the dsr-1 there is 1 second (or less) delay before you can scope out. Because of this, it is better for dsr-1 users to be hard scopers. Unless, you switch weapon after firing. Awm, after firing goes back into normal view then scopes back in.
- Scope out will help you survey your surroundings
- Now, this divides the guns into two situations, dsr-1 benefits in hallways where people can bunch up like tdm prison (sides). So you can do rapid killing and know enemies are in one area where you don't need to scope out. While awm benifits in open areas like in front of the spawning areas of prison (i know you can still do good at the side with the awm).
- OF COURSE, these type of examples adapt to different maps and people use the "qq" method of switching to secondary or knife to scope out with dsr-1. But remember, this technique originated from the awm and doesn't really suit the dsr-1, where it would take a long time to get the dsr-1 ready to fire (and disregard it's "use" being hard scoper).
Other features are common sense, like rate of fire, damage, weight, etc. -

You're wrong there. The DSR has a quicker reload then the AWM. The DSR reload just seems longer because it has more animations in the action.
The AWM is better for quick scoping, the first zoom is good for that. The DSR is best in my opinion, the ROF makes no scopes easy in Prision, but the zoom also makes it good for long range.
All depends on how you play. -

Wow, can't we all just agree that the best gun depends on how you prefer to play the damned game? Just shut about which one is better. They both have good things, they both have bad things. Deal with it and let the player and his style decide which he uses. -

IMO DSR is one of the worst sniper rifles. Sometimes I would prefer to use M700. Why? DSR is sure great with it's high ROF and one shot kill feature, but there is too many downsides.
First: Reload is HELL. 2 seconds? 3? 4? ... Doesn't even matter, you WILL be dead by then.
Second: Slow pull out. You don't want to quick switch with this gun. You don't want to switch to your pistol or melee for running faster. And if you do, you won't have enough time to shoot your target if you spot one.
Third: Only one scope. While not an immediate pain in the ass, this will bring you down on extreme long ranges. I use Prison or Monaco to take down DSR users effectively. It takes a little more time to aim at extra long range without the adittional magnification.
Fourth: It stays scoped in. Wich means you can't quickscope a few shots in a row. Restricting you even more on close range. It also means that you won't be able to watch the battlefield after each shot, and you will end up flanked and busted down.
Fifth: It takes too much time to unscope it after you shoot. A second I think. That means that after you take down your target, you're going to stay away from battle for one second, and only then turn around, scope in again, and shoot the other guy. Sadly, you can't bypass this by quick switching like you would do with PSG1, for the reasons I listed up above.
