What AV are you using?

i had this problem also.i cleaned registry uninstalled crossfire and deleted the program files in C: fixed registry and cleaned(ccleaner).uninstalled avira(which deleted trojan changing game files in process causing report file missing i think).reinstalled crossfire now am using avast free and program works fine.maybe this helps

turned off every single AV, i always have an AV for an hour and then i delete it. uses up too much RAM and i don't do a lot anyways.

Well something is messing with cf when you install it. Try and find out what it could be. look at your running processes
