Things that need to be said and heard - Part 2
Going to dive in to a couple more delicate subjects for this part of the series. I respectfully ask, once again, that if you can not contribute to the discussion/debate in a healthy manner that would encourage the life of this thread rather than destroy it, please do not even post. These are observations and topics I feel should be addressed, discussed, learned, and applied. Enjoy.
I. Freedom of Speech: I have the right to say what I want, where I want
United States Constitution Amendment I
II. Let the Moderators do the moderating

I. Freedom of Speech: I have the right to say what I want, where I want
United States Constitution Amendment I
- Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
- Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.
- Freedom of Speech, as I understand it, applies to restrictions that the government is able to impose. This does not apply to private property, which includes web sites that an individual, or a organization may possess and operate. For example, if someone is protesting and holds up a sign that states a belief or opinion that you don't personally agree with, and they're on a public street, you can't do anything about it. However, if that same person later breaks into your home and gets "in your face" about it, then you can remove that person from your home. The reason is that he is then on your private property. This still holds true even in the case of areas that are open to the public, even if they are in fact private. A web site is similar. What that law means is that if you don't like the content of a particular web site, or if you don't like the message of a particular individual, then too bad. It's their right to promote that message, using their resources. What it does not mean, is that an individual has the right to simply come into the community and act in a manner that the administrators of Z8Games don't like.
- Freedom of speech means you have the absolute right to voice your opinion, but you have to do it in a way that doesn't violate anyone else's rights, and more importantly for this website, it has to be done in a way which conforms to their forum rules. You must understand that although the constitution of the United States of America and the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights guarantees freedom of public speech for citizens of their states and countries, this website is not a US state, nor a UN country. The behaviors and activities of members of Z8Games are governed by the established rules and Terms Of Service agreement.
- The GM’s and Moderators have every absolute right to control the content of these forums, in whatever way they deem necessary as per the guidelines laid forth. We are in their world. We must conform to their rules and policies. No ands, ifs, or buts.
II. Let the Moderators do the moderating
- I have in fact been guilty of this on more than one occasion. I try to catch myself when I can, but do not always succeed. Moderator instruction is the exclusive domain of forum staff. Posing as or impersonating staff is not really encouraged. We are to participate in and enjoy the forum as members. It's for a good reason citizens aren't all given police badges, guns and the right to arrest each other.
- Members have no business with each others' violations. These are matters specifically between forum staff and the members. The usual logic is that letting members act like Moderators creates a lot of bad blood between members, therefore promoting a very unfriendly atmosphere.
- Let's try to think about this one, all of us. As I said in the beginning, I am guilty of this one as many others are as well. The GM's and Moderators are there for a reason. Let them do their jobs. I am not discouraging people from helping out, but leave the Moderation actions to those who have been given the responsibility to do so.

Mini mod's seriously annoy me tbh >.>
Or else a mod that's really picky / biased (no names >.> )
Also, the Declariation of Human Rights isn't a law. Therefore doesn't have to be obeyed =P More like a set of guidelines i think??
Also,i think that the trolling side of this game won't change. Its a f2p game, getting all the ''kids'',especially from the hated countries (turkey / brasil). Unless everything gets evened up,and most people in this game actually grow up i think that the trash talk and nonsense that goes on will never stop. I think that the bit of trash talking is good before a tournament match,to add more tension and hype - but besides that I find it mostly pathethic if someone judges a player from a randy pub / pug / scrim and goes on for months saying how horrible he is etc. -
Nicely said. Gamers and forumers always quote "Freedom of Speech" yet sadly, it's poorly understood and not read carefully enough.
People just know that they apparently have this "freedom" but they don't know everything that makes it up.
Greatly said Polleus. Hm, Polleus, that makes me think of greek gods..
Anyway, I might refer to this time to time, when i first got my mod spot, Grey had linked me to this and has been useful. Good post, like I said, alot of people think they can just say whatever they want, with no consequences. -

There is a fine line between someone who is a "mini"-mod, and someone who is just willing to help out.
OT; where is part one? To lazy to find it.
Definitely a fine line. One must walk that line very carefully.

Many seem to forget the old saying:
'You have the right to freedom of speech,
but your also your responsibility of what you say.'
Also being a MOD is not as easy as you think, they technically are enforce to think about the words they speak and the responsibility that it brings and many don't realize that because of such, they aren't always able to speak their opinion. They are people just the same, and should be treated as such. They are no more, or no less. The most they do is take care of the responsibility of the words overall.
^..^ Heh are we to expect a good solid ***** of these Polleus? Would be a good thing to educate a good number of people with your great wisdom. Stickies ftw! -

Hehe ^__^ I do plan on releasing more. Not sure of the amount or when, but I doubt I will be stopping these anytime soon as long as people are willing to read and listen. So far, that has been shown. -
It's for a good reason citizens aren't all given police badges, guns and the right to arrest each other.
Well technically speaking, I could put you under civil/citizen's arrest as a civilian.
But that's a whole different story, Good thread! Would like to see some stuff in here happen.
Also thought that I'd point out, when you said that the website is not a U.S state or a UN country, that might be true, however the servers for this website are still hosted in one of those respected states/countries, and being so hosted under those countries means that the laws of the country still apply to the website and/or materials that are hosted on it.
Opening a discussion about Freedom & Rights on the internet shouldn't be opened since it gets way to political =( -
Excludable wrote: »Add to that, the fake people who are just annoying on the forums, but when it comes to MOD applications, or anything of the criteria, people interchange and become a mini-mod.
If the correct term is mini-mod, then I will always be one. I enjoy helping out,
and generally pointing out mistakes, whether it's rule breaking, or if someones
annoying another member. I'm not one of those people who start once the
applications come out, I'm one of those people that start once they register.
I think it's just fine to help out, and point out mistakes, as long as you're nice
about it. -
Polleus bored at work Pt. 2

Keep it up Polleus, props to my main man.
Also, MODs do have the right to delete any post of yours, freedom of speech doesn't always apply to a forum if they have a set of rules that are official.
For example:
"Trolls about BR" are liable to be closed as it's against forum rules, even though racism against BRs in real life isn't punishable by law.
Overall, amazing read. -
interesting.. I haven't run across such intelligent posts since I left CF forums and the competitive scene. Glad there are people like this out there.
Tried to keep the standards up but it hard bro..
I've developed a thick skin
I've learned to take the good and the bad, no matter what shape or form its in. I stated in another thread its important to stick to who you are and not play fakes, so when things do get tough its easier to handle. I hope to help to establish such an environment to bring users such as yourself back. It will take a lot of work to keep the standards up and I wish anyone who wants to assist me in this to do so. -

That was our alliance from the start. Hit me up on Xfire in a bit, gotta speak to you about a few things
. Heading home in a bit. -

Crossing that thin line of being helpful and assisting/participating in people's questions/comments/discussions and doing a Moderator's job, without having Moderator powers.
so according to rust, you are doing a moderator's job.
i don't see you requesting to close threads, i don't see you acting like killgod.
all you're doing is trying to help people and trying to make this community a little bit better, step after step. -

I will use an old saying and apply it to this community.
This community, comprised of all its individual users, must "learn to walk before it can run". Step by step is the only way we can do it. The important part is to actually take those steps. As bad as this community seems to a lot of you, it can be influenced and made right. All it takes is time, patience, and a little hard work.
Such things a loser like me is willing to do
and like I said before I encourage others to assist me in that. -
