Recent Lag?

Okay. so i play crossfire about every other day. always around 35-55 ping. lag free. but today my ping goes from 80-4000. and major lag....is it my connection? no the connection is fine, same as it was yesterday when i had no lag. but today i got an error from gameshield or w.e the hack shield is called(**EDIT*** XTrap). it said it had an error with memory something.(i dont remember the message much cause i didnt think much of it.) so i closed crossfire re-opened no problem, no error message. but when i get on a server(tried them all) i get around 80-4000 ping and major lag, like i said before. i dont have hacks(some accused me of lol) but there has been a sudden change in ping recently. should i redownload/reinstall crossfire? or what?
