Whats an optimal fps???

optimal fps in most games is around 70 frames per second (depending on the human eye of course, people see differently)
in crossfire it's a different story considering this game was poorly constructed, I'd say about 120+.
is there a difference between 100 and 500? no not really. -

this game is also targeted to run a cheat free and non pay-to-win environment.
greycloak, +60fps has an obvious difference in this game. -

Short explanation for ya: If it's around 60 all the time, you'll be just fine. If it's below 30 or so, you need to stop playing on a freaking laptop with crappy integrated graphics, or stop playing anything except solitaire and minesweeper.
Long explanation for ya:
60 FPS is what is the maximum amount the typical human I can see. Not talking about refresh rate in case anyone is wondering. Most monitors it tops out around there unless they are CRT's or high end IPS panels.
For the game, you want to do a few games @ 1024x768 on in room with 16 players all playing. Egypt is great with all the nade spam. Check and look as u die what your FPS is, and what the minimum amount of FPS is on average. Either way, you want to see a minimum of about 30 FPS for the game to be playable. I could do a more realistic benchmark (record the active FPS during a replay of a game) and that would give u the accurate minimum, maximum, and average FPS.
For just about any game, you want a minimum of 30 FPS for it to be playable.
Why? 20 FPS is the point at which the brain adjusts to the eye's and it stops seeing individual frames. 30 FPS is where roughly most human's stop perceiving the f******ing effects of lower FPS and can start to assort the images correctly into a moving correlation. 30 FPS helps keep the average a bit higher then the 20 FPS limit, but it might still drop down occasionally to a very noticeably sideshow 5-10 FPS.
Higher FPS can also lead to more accuracy in physics and better interpretation, such as some of the jumps in CF. The same thing goes for CoD series and most other FPS's. Otherwise, anything above 60FPS is not useful except as a way to judge how much one will avoid the less than 20 FPS mark. Honestly, minimum framerate is far better to judge by then the average FPS one gets in a game.
For a game like Crossfire, it's not hard to achieve 150+ FPS. Me, I get roughly 250FPS in a room with 7-8 people in it. I drop down to 150 or so with a full 16 players. The very lowest I've seen my FPS drop to is around 80, and that's with a ton of players, nades, and normal gayness which comes with the map Egypt.;)
Ping in this game is almost more important then the FPS. Especially the ping of those you're playing against. One can use a spraying gun with low FPS and be just fine, but if the opponents lag, you're screwed. Spraying is only half-way decent against high pings.
