The game developer, Smilegate, will release neither map tools nor server code to anyone. I noticed someone mentioned the lithtech map editor. Since Crossfire is a modified lithtech jupiter engine, straight maps from that editor would not work.
It is highly unlikely that this will ever happen. -
With all good words, Z8 Games won't accept anyone on the forums, neither accept any programs given by a fourm user. They induct themselves to staff only that work for Z8 Games in Toronto, including G4Box.
Something like this happend before, so I would know. -

As that may be true i knew of someone who had made his own cf server but stopped his project form lack of interest

No quite simple norinuextreme wrote: »Hello, everyone. I'm a designer and programer and I'd like to know if I could create my own map at Crossfire. I know that due to organization reasons this may not be possible, therefore I'd like to propose a new system that leads us into Counter Strike system of maps and zones. We would have these great default maps or we could import our own maps to the game in order to introduce new ideas and amusement to all the players.
You see, unfortunately, it appears to be that some players know hidden glitches at some maps. It occurs to me as an example, the Ship, where we can hide inside the containers, or the Zone 13 at Mutation Mode, where it is possible to climb to several places that are quite hard to reach.
Yet, this is one more reason to allow players to expose their ideas and creations on Map Editing so that every player would be facing a new map and wouldn't know the secrets of it. Each player would be able to save each map to his "Favorite Maps" list so he could play that map later on or even edit it later at his own taste and will.
I'm quite sure that everyone would see this as a nice improvement to this game. I was actually surprised and sad to know that we couldn't edit or create our own maps on this game and I was forced to actually buy "Counter Strike: Source" in order to create some maps.
With this said, I ask the Moderators of this Forum to be alert and to take this in consideration, and please work on this nice feature. I also want to ask for any support by other players who read this thread and together we may take this forward and actually embed this option in the official game.
Last, but not least, I wanted to thank every producer and staff member envolved on this wonderful game which has addicted me so deeply and glued my face to my computer screen so easily, hundreds of times.
Honest regards,
Ricardo Estevez

In my opinion:
This will not happen because Z8Games will be handing out their mods for the game... Otherwise... Once handed out... Private Servers will easily be made and this company would lose A LOT of money.
However, I do think that this is a great idea... And I would love to make my own map as well. (: -
Good Idea. But for a reason I think it would't be that easy. When people create new maps they may be not good enogth to play and crossfire will have to chek all map's before put them in game. I am not telling you are a bad map maker but some people may do maps that are not good to play and they put em into crossfire and it will thake mutch time to em to see the map's they can get on game and the ones that can't. Good Idea but don't think it will happen. Keep tryng and good luk.

It will be a great idea...
If Z8games were to do that, they will definitely get hundreds of more players.
People will be able to make their own maps, and publish it on Crossfire.
And z8games could make a server for player-made maps.
But the only problem will be people making too many maps and slowing the system. -
It's not a fake prediction, it's a fact.
Yes its true
because there is a lot of good and easy suggestions, but administrators said NO or Discusing with customers (it means no f***g way
) .
For example gp rank bonus suggestions and others, by new maps. -

It could be the casting of maps, not all maps would be allowed. But I think its hard to do that... because cs, css is diferent game and servers systems than cf... -

the diffrent is, u should know this as programer, a big diffrent to css is that css server are "own server" so they run on a out - standing server
so if u would add it in here, the map have to run over the main server
so u have to have acces to the main server to upload it
so it would be way to easy to hack it i think
and u would fill the space of the server and all would be going + 100 ping or w/e -
IF motherators reads this . Please dont do that idea. is the most horrible and bad idea i ever heard. the crossfire will imba su.cks after that. the maps from now are ok u can suggest 2 add some maps by them but in NO WAY to make our own maps. Please this is really shiiiiiiiit!!!!

Wow! I hate to resurrect an old thread but there are multiple reasons for game developers to not release their editors.
I may be wrong but I have a few in mind...
1. Access to their tools and programs equals access to hackers to exploit them...
2. Crossfire is a FREE game to play unlike Counter Strike which requires you to purchase something...if they allow people to "mod" or create maps then there has to be servers to play it on, if you haven't noticed theire isn't an option to create a server so who is going to host this stuff. Also with that being said in order to give you that option that would have to do some programming in order to make that availible which they are most likely not going to do.
