Teams - A Suggestion to Further Competitive Play in CrossFire
The Ideal
The increase the level of competitive play in crossfire, change the chemistry and overall respect for fellow players, and hopefully make the competitive community worthy of recognition. Pipe dream? Maybe. But who cares?
The Motivation
Besides thinking it over, and some upcoming events which I'm not at liberty to disclose, the main motivation for this is the fact that, now that WOGL will be partnering with G4Box, there may be a bigger chance that good ideas from this community will have a much bigger impact than before. Especially in the competitive area.
What is a Team?
A Team would be a group of players similar to a clan. However, a Team would have a few unique features.
A 10 Member Limit
In order for a team to be successful in competitive play, they need to get to know each other. They need to know each other's play style as well as they know themselves. With the current default player limit of clans (25) this is not very encouraged.
Competitive Opportunities
a) Tie it in with the WOGL partnership. Have specific leagues and tournaments for serious teams.
b) Separate Format. Dedicate another server for competitive play among teams. This server would have specific weapon restrictions (possibly according to WOGL rules of any Team based league or tournament going on) and specific match format. This server would also allow players to join at any time, as disconnections would always be an issue. Another thing would be a locked round format, such as options between First to Nine and 11 Rounds Per Side and such.
The Reasoning
By creating a separate system of smaller Teams, this would build chemistry and respect among the players within each team. By creating respect for close friends, you help influence tolerance and respect for other Teams and players. By doing this, you create a more friendly and welcoming competitive community, which has a much bigger opportunity to grow.
There are more options and expansions this can provide, I've only scratched the surface. Hopefully the CrossFire community will dig deeper.
I hope that one day that the players of CrossFire will compete not to win, but to improve.

You guys can also consider the all new Combat FPS League.
Combat FPS is currently creating the league to evenly match teams in our Pools. Better teams will be in one pool and teams and teams will be matched in skill level for our league.
We are doing our best to create an intereactive, fun and still competitive league.

This has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Please post something relevant or leave. -

Build Chemistry and respect...half the decent players in this game are major clan hoppers, not to mention have huge ego's (EX: Pugs)...not loyal to any team but the one that's wining. Larger more competitive community? If anything this would shrink into a small group of the "popular" crowed people chosen by other egotistic maniacs...and any "teams" not in the Popular crowed would be shunned... -

No. Denxi is right. ACTUAL competitive gaming will make this compulsory for any team that truly wants to compete. You think you can win with your 25 man clan of soloers that never plays together vs a team of 7 players that have been playing together daily in a coordinated way with a smart strat caller watching over them?
If WOGL actually brings in a tourney with real cash prizes, this is going to happen. If it doesn't, CF players are going to get ****d by cs and cod teams lured by the smell of cash. -

If high level teams provide a good example, then hopefully the lower levels will follow.
All it takes is a good attitude, something which you haven't seemed to include in your prediction. -

All the good players need to stop trying to move up from whatever team they're on and instead move the team up.
I mean, someone is a starter on a pretty good team leaves them to roster ride Life Line? That just hurts the community.
Life line will most likely always use their s5. It would be extremely hard to break that bond. You can scrim with them, but you won't be considered S5. -

I never said I was in a 25 man clan now did I...o and btw this is a free online game...the major part of the competitive gaming was lost as soon as they slapped "FREE" on the game...While I do think some competitive gaming still survives is CF, a random forum thread about making "teams" and a new "special" server isnt going to help. Go make a clan of 7 egotistic players and see how long that last...because that is what the so-called "team" is all about. If high level teams provide a good example, then hopefully the lower levels will follow.

This Idea will stay as a forum thread...nothing more nothing less... -
DUDE SERIOUSLY! it was cool at first but the more u shove it down our throats the lease we want it, and we will soon throw up, wen we are hungry, we will eat, we kno about it[CFC]Paradox wrote: »You guys can also consider the all new Combat FPS League.

An opinion about what will happen in the future if certain things transpire is a prediction... -
Yeah, they need to make a section and a rank for,
Clan and Team.
My suggestion is
Clan section determined by points, who can farm the most basically
. Which we already got.
Team rank determined by scrim winnings, 1 win = 5 points per person in the winning team. Which we need. -

I'm sorry but my opinion in my first post was not about what will happen in the future...it was about the competitive situation on CF, and what it is like right now. If you see any "prediction" into the future...then your looking to far into things m8... -
I never said you were in a 25 man clan, I was speaking in rhetorical terms. Competitive gaming lost because of the ''free'' tag? What does that have to do with anything? Counter strike, arguably the most competitive fps to date costs a mere 10$ right now, dollars which have NO LINK WHATSOEVER with the leagues that picked up the game. AVA, a free game, has recently touted a tournament with a grand prize of 50000 euros and a trip to the WCG in Korea.I never said I was in a 25 man clan now did I...o and btw this is a free online game...the major part of the competitive gaming was lost as soon as they slapped "FREE" on the game...While I do think some competitive gaming still survives is CF, a random forum thread about making "teams" and a new "special" server isnt going to help. A clan of 7 egotistical players? You make claims which have no backing whatsoever. It is a known fact that any team that has gone anywhere in pretty much any esport rarely consists of more than 10 players. 7 or 8 players playing together and building teamwork and working on good strats is the preferred format for the competitive scene, and that is a given to everyone but CF players, apparently. What Denxi is saying will be obvious to anyone who has any idea what a competitive scene is.
And besides, what's with the negative attitude? If that's how you act with your clan mates, it's not hard to fathom why you think teamwork within a 7-man team is impossible. -

Any1 who has ever been in a clan with me knows I hardly ever complain, and in general i'm not hard to be around, i'm actually a pretty good guy...I just don't think this is a good idea, its my opinion and I can see you have a different view...I also don't think CF is a competitive game. And you know for a fact a lot of decent players have a inflated head... -

I'm not attacking you, I'm attacking the idea you put forth. I agree that right now, there aren't any real competitive teams but, as I said, If real money comes into the equation, people are going to start trying, and the 25-men teams will be replaced by smaller teams. There may still be roster riders but they are going to be more distant from the starters than they are right now.
Like I said, if this doesn't happen, one of two scenarios can predictably happen: One, the teams that I know are forming right now are going to destroy the competition or two, some cs team is going to come in and reap the rewards. -

Hopefully the latter, and hopefully that actually inspires people to improve. -
if this were to be taken seriously by a bunch of teams there could be a very effective IRC channel or Xfire group much like source ringer
when teams run into the problem of having 7 members, and only have 4 online, they can easily get a fifth player and easily get their 5 for exhibition scrims
of course for matches and leagues the 5 would all know to get on -
I like the idea.
But the CF community is filled with so many dumb asses that if this gets released, they're going to eff it up.
That is the exact thing im talking about...Overly confident Players...who blame everything on the lesser half of the CF community the "dumb asses" always thinking its them who are going to "eff it up"...when actually its people like this guy who have giant ego's and when ever someone trys to reason with them...they blow up and cause issues... -

[Insert blowing up statement causing issues here.
Rage indicating that I am finished with the conversation.]
But in all seriousness, I suck at CF, yeah, but seriously? There have you seen the CF community? -

50k euros is imaginary ingame money in ava, kinda like gp
don't speak about stuff you don't know anything about. it's a common flaw in this community.
it doesn't matter if players have ego and they are good. i'm sure almost everyone on lifeline has an ego -

Team rank would be determined by powned beating TEAM COW in "scrims".
